Chapter 7: Their stupid rules

Justine's POV

I didn’t reply quickly and decided to think what I should say to make his heart less heavy from all this pain he went through. It’s not easy for a person who gets betrayed to forget everything.

I know he wouldn’t believe the reason why I choose to save him from that situation. I already used this chance different and I’ll look like a hypocrite if I’ll be honest to him. It’s no used anyway.

“It’s because my enemy didn’t deserve such treatment. That’s already an enough reason for me to tell you about it. Plus, I used that on my advantage as well. Let’s call it quit, Lawrence. It’s already late, we should go to bed,” I suggest. I just want to stay away from him because his warmth is making me feel… weird.

“That’s new in my ears. A person who shows compassion to her enemy? That’s weird,” he says. He even laughs to mock me. I understand why he sees my action that way because it’s true.

“We are one of the people out there who have a healthy rivalry in business. We only make our services and products better against each other. We never hurt or even sabotage each other. Also, if I let your friend ruined your business, then I’ll lost a person who motivates me to be a good businesswoman,” I honestly says.

I laugh softly. “It’s sounds weird and stupid right? But that’s what I really feel. I feel excited whenever we have to fight over the market and I did everything just to surpass you, Lawrence.” I know it sounds weird and stupid reason but that’s the truth.

He laughs and I feel offended somehow. I was serious when I told him that I want to him to be my only rival in the business world. “Hey! Laughing to someone’s truth is rude!” I roared.

I turn around and pointed my index finger in his face. My eyes dilated when I saw his reaction. Fuck! He’s eyes were twinkling and he’s also smiling so sweetly. What the hell! Why did he smile when I’m being grouchy here! “I didn’t realize that you’re thinking of me that way. I’m flattered, Justine,” Lawrence says.

I cleared my throat by coughing and brush my nape because of embarrassment. “Forget that I said that. My goodness,” I pout.

He laughs and suddenly places his hand on my head. “I don’t think so. I will always remember what you said,” he replied.

I rolled my eyes and glared at him. I know what he’s trying to do but I’m not buying anything. “Don’t even try to use that on me. I am not someone that will be charmed by that—ugh!” I remark.

I made gestures as well pointing his face using my fingers. He laughs and I notice when his hand was trying to reach the bottle of brandy behind me. I sighed and realize that he won’t stop. I grab his palm and place it in my lap. I glared at him and make sure he will understand my warning.

“Now that you are mine, mister. Taking alcoholic drinks is forbidden, Lawrence. No negotiations about that. Come on, let’s go to bed and celebrate when you really feel like you want to,” I stated. I grab his hand and drag her inside. I closed the door and pulled the curtain.

“Huh? Speaking of devil, your ex is calling you,” I remark.

I grab his phone and answered. “Who is that?! Is that your bitch ex?! Give me the phone,” I remark. I keep a distance so that Gianna will believe that I’m few steps away from Lawrence.

My husband glares at me and I know he wants to stop me in making noises which will never happen. I covered his lips and decided to speak. “Wow! After what you and Jaxon did to my husband, you still have the guts to call, huh? Bravo! Don’t ever call Lawrence. He is now mine and you wouldn’t like if I get mad cheater bitch. Don’t even try to steal him or I’ll kill you!” I roared. All I heard from the other line was Gianna’s laughter.

“You really think he likes you? Oh please, don’t be delusional. You are nothing but a replacement because he loses me. You’re nothing, Justine.”

I scoff and tried not to turn it into laughter. “Well, that’s true. But I’ll make sure that he will never remember you. That you’ll be nothing but a cheater ex in his eyes. I will make sure he will hate you forever Gianna. Enjoy your life with Jaxon,” I continued.

Lawrence on the other hand was trying to grab his phone. I stomp on his foot and glared at him deathly. “You will soon realize how happy I’ll be because of him. Bye… I’m waiting for him anyway. He’s taking a shower. We will sure enjoy the night,” I utter huskily and laugh devilishly.

I drop the call and turn it off. I know Gianna was damn mad. I didn’t give her the chance to take over and piss me off. I take off my palm in his lips and handed his phone on him. I cross my arms and take my seat in our bed.

“I have to make things clear with you, Lawrence. Don’t ever try to cheat on me. My name and dignity as a wife was on the line and if ever you cheat on me, I will let you know what I’m capable off. Second, don’t ever lie to me. I hate people who lies.”

I suddenly remember when dad lied to my mother. No, both of them lied to me. They cheat on each other and just act as a loving couple in front of me because they’re afraid of my grandma’s threats against them. They will lose their privilege in material things and will be kicked out without receiving any single penny.

“Also, I’m serious when I told you to quit drinking alcohol. No such drinks even in social gathering. Once you did, there will be consequences. Lawrence, I will never nag on you over trivial thing but once I did, back off. I’m ready to destroy your life completely. Remember that,” I stated.

I even raise my hand and pointed my index finger in his face. I know it was written all over my face that I’m serious when I warned him to follow my rules.

He stood in front of me and lifts my chin. He lowers his head and looks at me intently. His eyes were emotionless and it will make you feel like a black hole exists on those gorgeous silver gray eyes.

“Then you must listen to my rules. Don’t nag at me in public places. If I told you to shut up, then close that mouth. Don’t even try to cheat on me as well. I will bring hell on you. If I saw you laughing and eating with other man alone, then you’ll be punished. Don’t even try to ruin my image to the public.”

He took a halt and his glances became sharp and predatory. He’s trying to dominate and scare me but I look at him expressionless as well. I promise to myself that no one will make me inferior again especially when it’s Lawrence Edward. The man who bullied me for almost ten years.

“Most of all, obey me. I’m the alpha here and you must remember your place. If you even try to betray me, then pick the most expensive casket in this planet. Mostly, don’t dare falling in love with me. You’re nothing but a wife who will just boost my image. Did you get it?” he says.

I grab his palm and glared at him. It’s time to show him that we’re both alpha of this relationship. “I know one I’ll fall for you. But it doesn’t mean that I act cutely and clingy. Don’t worry. This is just a business, Lawrence. Yes, I might be in love with you one of these days but you’ll never hear me saying those disgusting words. I will never say those words again. Not even in my nightmares!” I remark. I shove his hand away and stood up.

I heard my phone vibrating in my purse. I look at the screen and saw the name on the screen. “Unknown caller?” I whispered. I swipe the answer button and place the phone in my ears.

“Hello there, my darling. It’s been a while,” he says. My forehead wrinkled after I head his voice. I look at the screen.

“Who the heck are you and why are you calling me darling? I have no time for nonsense,” I roared. I am still mad a Lawrence and now an annoying caller were pissing me off as well. Darn it!

“Who is that, Justine? Why is he calling on our wedding night?” he asks.

“How can you be so cruel? Why, Justine?!” he roars and drops the call.
