Chapter 9: Beyond of expectations

Justine's POV

I should be feeling this. I should be following my instincts and natural inclinations as a woman, but they were unexpectedly triggered by the last person I expected. I want to push him away, but I can't help but succumb to my desires.

As he looks into my eyes, I whisper, "Can you wait, please? I want to have my first time in my bed." Lawrence's eyes dilate after I utter those words.

He chuckled and then stole another kiss from me. I know he will remember what I said, but I don’t care at all. “I will make sure that it will happen. What if we reschedule our flight for tomorrow and go home to your house and...”

I covered his lips and chuckled. “Take it easy. Let’s go to Switzerland. I haven't been there and I heard it’s beautiful. I think this is the perfect time for me to go there. It’s lonely to go on a vacation alone,” I whispered.

He let out a sigh and even pouted, which made me laugh. "Alright then, you'll have to make it up to me as soon as we get back. It's been a year since the last time we had sex. I'll make sure you'll get pregnant before you know it," he said with a mischievous tone.

My lips fell open in surprise at his words, and he laughed even louder, clearly enjoying my reaction. I playfully pinched his cheeks and flicked his forehead. "You and your dirty jokes, Mr. Edwards. Please spare me from more cringe," I teased.

He continued to laugh as I left him alone to pack our things. As I looked at the wedding gown, I wondered how to fold it since I'm not good at folding dresses. After struggling for a few minutes, I managed to fit it inside my bag.

"I'm ready," he announced, and when I turned around, I saw his fresh, handsome look.

I found myself wondering what Gianna saw in her cousin. Jaxon doesn't possess the same level of charm and good looks. Did she use a love potion on him, or are they both up to no good? I dismissed the thought and then realized he was standing in front of me. He gently lifted my chin and locked eyes with me.

"What's on your mind? Are you imagining things about me?" Lawrence said in a low, husky voice. His words gave me chills.

I pushed his hand away and shook my head. "I would never imagine that about you. Ugh!" I retorted, rolling my eyes.

He chuckled, clearly enjoying himself. Then he patted my head. I glared at him. "You look cute when you're annoyed, Mrs. Edwards. By the way, have you packed your wedding gown yet? Don't forget it. I've heard that women like to keep their wedding gowns and pass them down to their daughters," he remarked. I just laughed and turned away.

"I'm ready. Let's go. I don't want my grandma to wait too long," I said. He nodded and grabs my luggage from my hand. He also pinches the elevator button.

Upon seeing my grandma at the table, I noticed her gaze fixed on my neck. I understood what she was curious about. "Don't worry, grandma. I use concealer to cover it," I reassured her. She chuckled softly as we looked at the menu and called the waiter to take our orders. Opting for a heavy meal, especially since I don't usually eat much on flights, to avoid worsening my jetlag.

"Make sure to give me a great grandson soon. You have two months," she insisted.

"If you have to work every night, then do it. I'll send vitamins to help speed things up. You know how impatient I am, Justine. You know what I can do."

My grandma didn't hesitate to make her demands in front of Lawrence. I was relieved that I hadn't hidden the truth, as Lawrence suddenly laughed and smiled too!

"Grandma, that's not a bad idea at all. But of course, she'll need some days off. Those are her tough days because I know it's hard to deal with cramps and mood swings," Lawrence says. I couldn't believe it.

Did he just agree to my grandma's request? My grandma was smiling and enjoying her conversation with her grandson-in-law. "Then you better take care of her during those days. I'll give you some tips one of these days," grandma says, winking at my husband. I sighed and shook my head.

On the plane, Lawrence was staring at his phone. I knew what kind of picture he was looking at. It was a photo of him and his beloved Gianna. I was really confused about why Gianna chose his cousin over him. Jaxon is boastful and looks down on other people.

"You really love your fiancée, huh? Well, you two have been together for so long. I understand your feelings anyway," I murmur. I opened my laptop and started checking my emails. I wanted to see if Gianna or Jaxon had even tried to contact me in any way. I disrupted their plans and I know they would be even angrier if they found out that I was the one who told Lawrence the truth. I rub my neck.

"You're working too hard. Can you just take a break and stop bringing work into this moment?" he suggests.

I just shrug. I do my best to stop thinking about Gianna's threats in my sudden marriage. It's better than dwelling on nonsense. As long as I have the heir, then we can move on from each other and just co-parent our child together. After an hour, I close my laptop after responding to my employees' questions. I glance over and realize that my husband is already asleep. I get up and grab a blanket.

"Let's see how tough you can be with your cheating cousin and fiancée. You better teach them a lesson or I'll do it myself."

I stroke his cheek and leave him. I go to the bathroom and take a shower. I suddenly feel sticky. After showering, I ask the flight attendants to bring some snacks. His phone rings again. I noticed Gianna's name on the screen. I pick up his phone and answer the woman's call. I remained silent, allowing her to speak.

"Hello! What did you do with my bank villa in Manhattan? Why didn't they let me in?" she roars. I suppose I can respond to her, but is it even appropriate, given that she is angry? I believe I'm being insensitive. I'd better drop it.

"Hello! Answer me, asshole! You will not get away with this. It doesn't follow that just because that bitch saves your face, you will be happy. I'll make her suffer!" she screams. I close my other eyes after Gianna irritates my ears.

"Could you please lower your voice? I'm not sure what happened with the villa you mentioned, but if he locked you out, you probably had it coming. You were involved with his cousin and cheated on him. You got what you deserved."

I can only imagine the expression on her face right now. I heard the sound of something breaking, probably a glass or ceramics. "You! Why do you have his phone, huh? Why!"

I shook my head and let out a deep sigh. What a screaming maniac. "I have every right to have his phone. You keep calling and interrupting my meal, so just stop it!" I shouted at her before ending the call.

I don't have time for her. "Why do you have my phone?"
