The Pocaterra mansion

"The girl identified herself by the name of Clarisa Stevens , her dental records allowed us to know her origins and contact her family."

Commented the chief police officer , in a serious and intriguing manner .

"The girl had her neck torn, apparently a beast tore part of her throat and chest, we believe it could have been a wolf or some wild dog, but most curious of all is that all the blood from the body apparently was sucked continuously , which takes our suspicions to a deeper level, worthy of being investigated with caution and precision".

Said one of the forensic experts who had arrived in a slow and controlled manner , I guess that seeing beheaded corpses was already common in his career , and his analysis was more direct and profound .

"Can there be a theory that this crime was committed by some kind of psychopath , and not by an animal ?"

Asked the police officer to the coroner .

"It may be, although a psychopath would make some sort of pattern on the body which is not evident here. Psychopaths have a particular style of killing their victims , they strangle them , or use some sharp weapon with which to cause cutting wounds quickly and accurately , something that here also can not be spotted , there are no wounds that are produced by bladed weapons "

Replied the coroner , lifting the sheet that was covering the corpse and pointing with a kind of pointer without touching the body.

"I understand, that is to say that it could not have been a psychopath, it is something enigmatic that we will have to investigate thoroughly . It is already the third corpse in the area , in half a year , with the other two corpses was corroborated that the murderer was a kind of wolf , and closed the case . But I would not want to take the wolf theory for granted so quickly , we have spoken to the rangers and they have been patrolling the area , they have not reported any threats or irregularities "

The coroner looked silently at the officer , and did not utter a word . After a couple of hours they lifted the body and took it to the morgue for analysis. They all collected the evidence they had acquired and got into their police cars, leaving the place locked down.

"You two go after the cops , I want to know what you get inside the corpse , clues about the killer , or some trace that will be useful to us ."

Said the coyote to his two spalderos with a commanding voice . And they obeyed without question.

" What do I do? "

I asked expectantly , thinking that perhaps there was some particular job for me , although I was not an expert in the matter yet .

"You and I will follow the scent trail of the assassin to see where it leads us , maybe we should visit La Mansion Pocaterra tonight ."

A strong shiver ran down my spine, at the thought of voluntarily going towards the mansion where the predator of the centuries himself lived , and the culprit of the atrocious change in my life .

"If you want to run away you can do it , I do not tolerate working with chickens ."

Murmured the coyote , nailing me a determined look .

" I will not deny that the very idea of visiting that madman terrifies me , but my life is already in pieces , and I can not turn back time . I must fight and protect my parents at all costs ."

"For your parents don't worry , two of my men are watching them day and night and if anything happens they will not hesitate to protect them to the end "

Hearing the comforting words of the coyote , I entered in me a feeling of calm and well being, I had made the right decision , my place was next to the coyote and not Araticús.

We followed the scent trail of the neophyte who had murdered the girl, and this effectively led us to the Pocaterra mansion. The place I least wanted to be, but we had to get to the bottom of this matter, and the dark bottom always led to Araticús.

We decided to keep our distance when locating the mansion so as not to be so obvious, it was obvious that going alone into a place infested with vampires was against us, but we could certainly watch from afar without being discovered so soon.

From our current position, the mansion looked very gothic. Edgar Allen Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher" came to mind.

The bluish light coming from the night moon made the dark bricks look like precious stones. The Pocaterra mansion had at least three levels and was adorned with several sharp spires.

We had to walk up the mountain before reaching the entrance gate, where they probably kept their luxurious cars. We could see that at that moment a car parked in front of the giant pontoon, and two men got out of the car and set out on a long walk, passing through a tall wrought iron gate with security cameras, and two guards who watched the gate with extreme coldness. The guards were as pale as we were .

"Their top security is due to us , they probably already know we are here . But I don't think they will attack us tonight , apparently they have high level visitors ."

Whispered the coyote , next to me . We were both on one side of the mountain that surrounded the gate , watching very attentive to every movement .

"We must corroborate if the scent we tracked here belongs to any of Araticus' neophyte lackeys and then we will leave . I'd like to know if they are still blatantly kidnapping humans , but I'm afraid that won't be possible tonight "

Whispered the coyote , with a look of latent anger in his dark eyes that turned blood red .

He really cared about humans , and everything related to them , he was truly a champion

of our race .

"But what have we here , two more guests to our lavish dinner ."

Said kindly a voice he already knew and did not intend to hear at the time .

" Araticus , what a surprise how did you know we were here , so close to your mansion ?"

Commented the coyote with a tone of irony in his voice .

"What are you supposed to be doing?"

I asked the coyote with my nerves on edge , as I looked at that face full of irony in front of me again .

"Nothing for you to worry about ."

Answered the coyote , as he climbed down from the tree where we were comfortably spying .

"I guess your minions informed you that I was here in your territory , and you decided to come down from your throne to give me a cordial greeting" ."

Said the coyote , as he took a leap and stood in front of Araticus in a firm and controlled manner .

"You assume wrong , because I did not come down from the mansion to see your face depressing human . I came down from my comfortable throne to see a friendlier face , the face of my dear friend Christian Hall ."

Hearing my name on the pale lips of Araticus , my body tensed in terror , I never wanted to dialogue with that man again , let alone after everything I had read about him .

" I don't think Christian wants to talk to you right now , I really brought him here to see with his eyes what he shouldn't become "

Said the coyote firmly . as he clenched his jaw tightly .

"Are you sure , I would like to hear those words from the voice of Christian Hall himself , or is it that he needs a mediocre mediator to be able to communicate with others ".

After saying a couple of persuasive words , Araticus fixed his disturbing gaze towards the tree where I was still climbing , looking for the right words to reaffirm my recent position .

"He needs no mediator , nor will he be anyone's slave . He has no owner , he will not be the lap dog of any imitator of English royalty ."
