Chapter 6: I'll find proofs
Rafael's POV
Before my two best friends retired to their rooms last night, I confided in them about my true feelings. When our lips met, I was certain it was her. I am convinced that Ellasandra Winters is actually my wife, Ella Myers, and I am determined to prove it.
I assured them that I will gather evidence, no matter how challenging it may be. They shared the same suspicion but were not entirely convinced. They expressed doubts about Ellasandra Winters being my wife and suggested that if she had changed her name, I should uncover the reason behind it.
She softly murmured, "Request?" I nodded, and she gazed at me inquisitively.
"What kind of request are you making, and why are you asking for it? We only met last night, and now you're here making a request. I think you're being unreasonable, Mr. Midnight," she remarked.
I acknowledged her words, but I was willing to be shameless if it meant uncovering the truth. I decided to stay in my private room on the same floor as hers. As I lay in bed, thoughts of this situation consumed me. I struggled to articulate this unfamiliar feeling, but it lingered in my mind.
"Ms. Winters, I may seem shameless right now, but I am determined to do whatever it takes, that's how resourceful I can be. If you don't want your names to be on the internet, then you should listen to me," I assert. She chuckles softly and crosses her arms.
"I can't understand why you refuse to accept the fact that she's dead and we... oh my goodness. What kind of joke is this? I'm surprised that someone had my face and now you're making my life miserable with your regrets. This is ridiculous!" she exclaims. I know it seems absurd, but I don't care. I'm willing to do anything to uncover the truth, even if it makes her angry.
'I will make sure that you reveal yourself, Ella. You will... '
"Don't worry. I'm not really that despicable, Ms. Winters. I just want to invite you to my birthday party tomorrow. It's been ten years since I stopped celebrating my birthday, and I'm planning to change that," I explain. She looks at me, and I can tell what she's thinking. I don’t know why he suspects that Ashley is someone that is connected in my life but it’s true anyway.
Mr. Midnight, I don't think I'm the right person to ask. You should be talking to your girlfriend, not someone you just met. Can I take my son?" Ellasandra says as she walks closer to me.
Suddenly, her son embraces me tightly and says, "No, Daddy."
I feel a surge of happiness as I love being called 'Daddy' by the little boy. Holding him, I feel a strong connection and my heart are filled with joy. I can't help but get attached. "Let's eat first," I suggest, taking Ella's hand and leading them.
I know it may seem unreasonable and creepy, but I can't help wanting to be with them and be a part of their lives. I won't give up, no matter what Ellasandra says. I pull a chair for her and let her son sit in my lap.
"Where's his food? I will feed him myself," I ask the nanny, who hesitantly hands me the plate. The little boy looks at me.
"Daddy, fweed me, " he requested.
I chuckled as I took his spoon and focused on feeding him. I couldn't help but wonder if our beautiful child was a result of pushing Ella in that state. It was a bit surprising for me. If my calculations were correct, this baby was conceived on the night I fulfilled my marital duty. There's a chance that he is my son, so I need to uncover the truth. I must find out if Ellasandra and Ella are the same person or possibly twins. If I don't find out the truth, I'll go crazy.
"You should eat too, Mr. Midnight. I can feed River. Give him to me," Ellasandra said. I raise my hand and smile at her.
I meet her gaze and whispered, "It's okay. I can feed River every day," I murmur. I smiled while looking on this charming baby.
"Yay!" River exclaimed.
He's a bright kid for his age and can speak better than most kids his age. I know by the time he's 2, he'll start speaking more clearly. My mom told me that I started talking at seven months, and it wasn't just mommy or daddy. Ellasandra chuckled. I feel like we had the same traits.
"I didn't expect you to be such a great father, Mr. Midnight. My son really likes you. He never lets other men hold him or even cries when someone approaches me. Thank you, and in return, I will say yes to your request," Ellasandra said. That made me happy.
I'm glad she said yes! I need to prepare a special dinner for her and make sure she'll be surprised by it. "Thank you. Did you hear that? You and mommy will eat dinner with Daddy tomorrow," I said softly. I looked at the baby, and he was giggling. For his age, he’s really a genius baby in my eyes.
"Yay! Daddy and mommy!" he screams and smiles sweetly.
After feeding Ellasandra's son, I held him close, feeling a deep sense of love and responsibility. As I ate, he sat quietly on my lap. I didn't say anything when Ellasandra showed me care, not wanting to make her feel flustered or self-conscious. I hope this feeling is real and that this dream never ends. That is my wish.
After breakfast, I decided to leave for the time being. Ellasandra suggested that I wait until River falls asleep before leaving, and I agreed. As I was about to open the door to my room, I heard loud footsteps and recognized the person approaching.
I turned around and decided not to open my door. The hallway was empty. Ashley rushed towards me and slapped me. I looked at her coldly and asked, "What was that for?" She slapped me again.
"How dare you! You and your friends are shameless!" she roars. If Meredith were here, I'm sure she'd roast Ashley.
"Just go home for now and let's discuss this matter when I'm in the right mood. Ashley, I'm also surprised like you, and making an issue out of it will only make things worse. Just leave," I remarked. She scoffed, and before her hand could land on my face again, I held her wrist and glared at her. I had had enough of her toxic outbursts.
"I've had enough!" I exclaimed.
"You and your friends caused quite a scene last night. Do you realize who Zheng Yu Xuan and Xu Xiao Tong are? They're the most powerful couple in China, and Mr. Zheng is the third richest businessman in Asia," I stated.
Ashley went pale. "Consider yourself lucky that you're still here, or else you'd be struggling to reach your lawyers. Your actions have caused a public scandal and defamation," I warned.
I closed my eyes as I spotted the couple we were discussing walking towards us. "Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Zheng," I greeted.
Ashley turned pale as she looked at them. I didn't try to stop her as she ran away like a coward. "Please, come inside. We can talk privately at my house," I offered.
"Good, I really need to talk to you anyway," Mr. Zheng says.
Upon opening the door, I gestured for them to enter first. After they had taken their seats, I brought tea for all three of us.
"I understand that you are both here because of what Ashley and her friends did to your wife," I acknowledged. I have to get them on my side. Mr. Zheng sighed and took the first sip of his tea, and to my surprise, it was his wife who spoke first.
"Ms. Winters informed us that you are the owner, and I witnessed how you intervened when the young lady abruptly left. It's not your fault if they behaved that way," Mrs. Zheng reassured. I am glad she understands me. I was relieved that they didn't harbor any ill feelings. Her husband then spoke up.
"I'm aware that you're a businessman yourself, Mr. Midnight, and I have a favor to ask. Let's call it an exchange for what your girlfriend did to my wife," Zheng Yu Xuan proposed. I look at them and tried to read what they're thinking at this moment.
