First Subordinate Achieved!
Joan’s eyes widened at Ryan’s words. She didn’t expect him to make such promises towards her, and the sincerity in his voice was enough to make tears well up in her eyes.
‘Despite all the plans and ambitions that Prince Ryan had already made for himself, somehow, he also thought of me being with him in the future that he’s dreaming of,’ Joan thought with a sniffle.
The maid assassin had done her best to hold back her emotions for all these years, but now, she was unable to control herself. All the feelings she had suppressed for a long time came flowing down like a flood.
“A-ah, you really said such things to me.” Joan cried.
“Hey, why are you crying? Did I do something wrong? Do you dislike the idea of being with me in the future I’m thinking of? You don’t have to hesitate. Always feel free to tell me what you feel and want, okay?” Ryan wiped the tears that rolled down Joan’s cheek and intently checked her expression.
‘Did I assume too quickly? I didn’t think that I could make her cry like this since she was so serious and stern before. Ahh, it’s really incredible how vulnerable a person can become if you let them have the chance to open up.’
“Shhh. Everything will be fine, Joan.” Ryan pulled her into a tighter hug, and she buried her face into the crook of his neck.
“I’m sorry for being such an unsightly mess, Master Ryan,” Joan said with a sniffle. “It’s not that I’m unhappy with your promise. In fact, I’m quite honored that you’re already thinking of such things even though I just confessed today.”
“Well, I’m a person who knows what I want, Joan. Why should I hesitate when I’m aware of what I want for my future? I want you to be a part of it, if you’ll let me.” Ryan chuckled as he soothed her by running his fingers down her hair.
“Of course, of course!” Joan quickly pulled away from him to look him in the eyes. Her long pink hair fell across her bare shoulders as she looked at him with her glittering emerald eyes and lips that curved into a beautiful smile.
“I want to be with you, Ryan. Right now, tomorrow, and in the future—I wish to be by your side and be your greatest supporter! Thank you for choosing me. I’ll do what it takes to be deserving of your affection.”
Ryan smiled as he held the beautiful lady in his arms.
“You’ve done plenty enough, but thank you. I appreciate your intentions, and I will also do the same.” Ryan took her hand in his and gently lifted it for a chaste, wholesome kiss. “Let tonight be our cherished promise towards one another, Joan. I swear to make you happy as long as I live.”
“I swear to do the same. I will always stay at your side and support you in fulfilling your dreams, Ryan.” Joan vowed to him with a blissful expression on her face.
Upon those words, Ryan quickly heard the sound of the Grimoire’s voice in his ears.

Ryan was pleased with the results he got tonight.
The amount of Grimoire Points he received was an incredible feat. Not only that, Ryan was also happy to have Joan by his side now as a partner and supporter. He hadn’t honestly expected such a thing to happen.
‘Right now, I don’t know what the future will hold. Even so, I’ll try to pave my own path with all I have and control the things that I can. Some unexpected things will still occur, and the best thing that I can do is be ready for them,’ Ryan thought determinedly.
“Ryan?” Joan called out to him curiously. He had fallen silent after her words, and she was a tad concerned about what had happened to him since he looked lost in his thoughts.
“Yes, Joan?”
“Is there something on your mind?”
“Oh, I was just thinking about how fortunate I am to be in this place with you,” Ryan said honestly.
“You… do you not wish to be at the palace with your parents and siblings? With the luxury befitting that of a Sixth Prince?”
“Oh. I liked the luxury and wealth, alright. And I do miss my family, but I would have never been given the proper opportunity to make a future that I want if I had stayed there. Being here with you right now is the best thing I can ask for, and I don’t need anything else at the moment.”
Unfortunately, when he finished his words, the Sixth Prince’s stomach suddenly growled and he let out a sheepish laugh at the sudden contradiction.
“Ah, I thought you were enough dinner for me, but I guess that wasn’t the case. Luckily for us, the night is still young, huh?” Ryan said with a smile. “We have a lot of work ahead of us tomorrow, so we need to get as much energy as we can.”
“Oh yes. Tomorrow, you will be giving your speech to the village of Stonefall, right?” Joan asked.
“Yeah. I know my mother promised to give me Stonefall Village and make me its Master, but I guess it slipped her mind that it already has an existing leader and forgot to inform the village ahead of time, haha.” Ryan chuckled. “Neither did it occur to my father to send a message too… but do not worry about it, the future is bright for us.”
For the rest of the evening, Ryan and Joan had dinner together and discussed about Ryan’s upcoming speech for tomorrow.
