Shopping
"Alright. Everything has been bought. Does Miss Finola need anything else before we go home?"
Maya stared in amazement at the pile of bags that Evan's maid was currently carrying. Maya knew that Evan wasn't short on money to buy whatever he wanted. But buying almost half the shop just for her clothes was still too much for Maya. Previously, the girl had kept insisting that she didn't need that many clothes. But unexpectedly, it turned out that the people who came with her had indeed been given instructions to buy several sets of clothes for Maya this time. Maya had to try on different outfits since then. Starting from pajamas, outdoor clothes, party dresses, casual clothes, to sports clothes are also calculated differently by them. Maya who was never tired even when she was being chased by zombies was surprisingly a little tired now, as she sat on the bench provided by the store just to take a deep breath.
However, her complaining stopped immediately, as she stared at the smartphone which she holds in one of her hands. Apart from buying clothes, Evan also seems to have instructed one of the maid to take Maya to the cell phone shop first. Since Maya herself didn't know which cell phone was better among the many cell phones in the store, the maid who went with her was generously willing to choose a good cell phone and at the same time teach her how to use it. Maya was lucky at least she had used an old cell phone in the past. The study time wasn't very long, and Maya had understood the outline of how to use a modern cell phone that she couldn't have in the past.
Evan had given him a lot of valuables. Maya felt that now was her turn, to give the man something valuable too.
"Auntie, can we stop at the chemical store before we head back today? There's something I want to buy over there."
The woman Maya spoke to was the person in charge of the shopping finances who worked under Evan's direct orders. She was the one who had been forcing Maya to choose various kinds of clothes for different purposes. So without needing to ask, Maya actually already knew that the woman was the one holding the money for shopping this time.
After Maya planned to cook healthy food for everyone, she actually discovered that the ingredients in this world were slightly different from the ingredients she needed to make the magic food. The fresh food that was in the house, was actually the same food as she had in her previous life but in a fresh form that was not contaminated by any foreign substances. Maya needed some chemical concoctions to turn the ingredients into the food she needed. Only when she has the right ingredients, she can make the food she actually wants.
The woman raised her eyebrows when she heard Maya's request. "Chemicals shop? There is one kind of shop like that in this mall. But if I may ask, why would you go to such a shop?" the woman asked in a surprised voice. Maya smiled shyly at the woman's question. "I'm going to try something. But I need some chemical solution to do it this time," she explained half-heartedly. Maya was grateful that the woman did not ask her further. The woman simply nodded, as she ordered the other maids to go first and take Maya's luggage into the car before returning to follow them later.
"I understand. Please follow me, Miss Finola."
Smiling, the woman told Maya to let the girl follow where she was going this time. The woman led her into a large store that had many bottles of chemical in its storefront. A waiter greeted them as the two walked into the shop. Maya's bright eyes saw the liquid one by one in that place. This was probably the first time for Maya, to see someone could possess chemicals in such large quantities.
Seeing the various types of chemical liquids that were there, Maya was honestly amazed by the completeness of the ingredients from this peaceful world. The girl began to stare at the liquid one by one in that place, before she finally found what she was looking for from that place.
Seeing Maya unhesitatingly buy various kinds of chemicals and tools as if the girl knew all of them very well, the woman who escorted Maya couldn't help but feel surprised. She never knew that this innocent-looking young girl had a pretty good knowledge of chemistry. The girl intimately talked with the shop owner, until they finally got a discount because Maya's knowledge managed to cheer up the shop owner who was happy to see a child as young as Maya knowing so much about chemicals.
"Auntie, is it okay if I buy this much?"
Maya asked as she showed her several large bottles of chemicals she needed to continue her plan. Actually, Maya had been trying to restrain herself by only buying the minimum amount she needed to mutate the ingredients she needed to cook later. However, because creating the process itself was very complicated and difficult, Maya couldn't just reduce the number of materials and tools she needed to make the food.
To be honest, using that mutation technique should also be impossible as long as the materials don't naturally mutate with the help of meteor dust. But Maya spent her entire life researching and surviving not just so she could create food just from mutated ingredients. Maya dedicates her time to unraveling the mutation process and how they got to mutate. Even if this world didn't have the meteor dust that should act as the cause of the mutation of the ingredients that Maya needed, Maya could still produce food that should never be exist in this world.
It feels like Maya has cheated. But apart from helping Evan recover from his illness, Maya doesn't know what else she can do to repay Evan's kindness when she has nothing but knowledge and experience from her previous life.
"Of course it's fine, Miss Finola. Mr. Evan have told me that you can buy whatever you want for today."
Even though that maid still doesn't know why Maya wants such a large amount of chemical solution and chemical tools, the woman still follows Evan's direct order to grant Maya anything she wants as long as her request is reasonable. Money wouldn't be a problem for someone like Evan anyway. The woman didn't even blink an inch, as she paid for all of Maya's necessities in quite fantastic amount.
Unfortunately, Maya still quite blind about the concept of money in this new world. If only Maya had known that she had just spent almost a year's salary of a regular employee's paycheck in one go, the girl might find it even harder to repay all the kindness Evan kept showing to her since she knows the man.
When Evan's maid finished paying for Maya's needs, Evan's people once again had to take the girl's stuff into a separate car from the car Maya used to go before. The girl really wanted to carry everything by herself. But Evan's maid immediately forbade it before Maya succeeded in carrying out her intention. They kept on insisting that they couldn't let their future Mistress of the house carry all the heavy stuff alone to return to Evan's house. Carrying things and serving Maya is their duty as a maid, and Maya doesn't have to worry about troubling them whenever she wants.
Having bought what she most wanted right now, Maya was in a good mood as she finally didn't refuse the strange arrangement. Although Maya is not used to relaxing and being helped by other people in doing things, the girl still trying to change for the sake of Evan's good name as well. Maya knew she couldn't embarrass Evan with her old habit, especially when she was about to marry Evan even though the marriage was only a mere agreement.
Her steps were light and relaxed, as she couldn't wait to get back home and make the food that served as medicine for Evan's health.
