A Crazy Girl
In a room where the light has been turned off by the owner of the room, a man is tapping his fingers as he stares at a photo of a girl that his uncle gave him a few months ago. All of a sudden, his uncle urged him to get married soon after the man had never really cared about him all this entire time. Evan knew there was a reason why his uncle didn't kill him right away when he knew he was still surviving the accident that happened to him. And the rest of the wealth he had, might be his new target for now. His uncle was certainly not willing, if the wealth he had was instead distributed to people in need if he remained aloof until his death later.
The man has tried to match Evan with a child from an acquaintance since Evan was sentenced to not live long about a year ago. With the aim, so that Evan's wealth could fall into the hands of his wife if he really had to die in the next few years. Woman after woman who was constantly sent to him had clearly never had any good intentions all along. Almost all of them just after his wealthiest, and his life if it is possible.
But really. What can Evan now expect from the people around him? He was an orphan, boring, and above all, a crippled man who could die at any moment right now. Evan could not expect a genuine love from the various women who tried to get close to him. His heyday had disappeared. Apart from choosing to keep giving away his wealth to people in need or marrying an unknown girl, Evan could only continue to live until his breath stopped at this point.
Evan thought his life was useless now. Time to time he was even trying to end his own life. But Kevin, his confidant and schoolmate, has been watching him all this time. The man kept uttering nonsense like he was still recovering. He was able to survive, and he could still walk one day.
When the greatest doctor Evan has ever met say that they can't save him, who else can save this man now? Evan snorted loudly. He was doomed to die. Fighting was also pointless, if he would only meet his end in the end.
Evan had given up, until an unknown woman suddenly made him realize how precious the life he still had right now. As the sharp tip of the fruit knife pressed against his fragile neck, Evan finally remembered that the life he had now had been painstakingly saved by his family. Evan still had to fight, even though his life was on the brink at this point.
Evan stared at the photo in his hands with a straight face, as he tapped the pretty face in the photo with his fingers.
"Finola... Right?" Evan muttered quietly. The man immediately put the photo back into his bedroom drawer, when someone knocked on his bedroom door.
"Evan, it is Kevin. I am going in okay?"
"Come in."
When Kevin came in, Evan was sitting in his wheelchair quietly looking at his friend flatly. Kevin is used to the change in his friend since the accident that happened to him a couple of years ago. The man just let out a long sigh, his feet stepped so he could sit on Evan's bed before speaking to the man.
"Their family seems to have gone crazy Evan. After their daughter has bravely pointed a knife at you on the first day of your meeting, now they are asking that we arrange a second meeting with her daughter. Don't they have any shame at all? Who wants to meet that crazy girl again anyway?"
"You set the place. But I do not like crowds. Oh, no. Just invite him over to the house this weekend."
Kevin blinked stupidly when he heard the unusual decision that his friend had made. The man was speechless, when he saw the change in Evan's demeanor at this point.
"Really? You... You want to see her again? After what she did to you? Evan, she tried to kill you just now! She does not seem to love you either. I know. She must be trying to end her life because she does not want to marry you too."
Evan smiled slightly at his friend's words. "That's exactly what I want. I will make it a weapon, so that my uncle will no longer be able to force me to marry an unknown girl in the future. At least, the girl who blatantly tries to kill me is still better than the woman who smiled in front of me just to kill me silently when they have the chance," Evan said casually.
Kevin's eyes narrowed slightly when he heard Evan's words. "You're not trying to..." Suddenly, his voice stopped as Kevin disbelievingly said. "No way. You... You did not really think about marrying that crazy girl did you? That girl is dangerous, Evan! She's no better than the girls who have been trying to get your attention. She can hurt you in a minute, then be polite and apologize to you in the next minute. We will find another way out. I will continue to protect you, so there is no need for you to keep endangering your life like this, Evan!"
The man's voice sharpened slightly at the end of the sentence. They have been good friends since they were both children. Seeing his own friend mess up and continue to be in danger just because of the wealth he has, clearly made Kevin worry half to death. Kevin wished he could help Evan better than now. Marrying such a dangerous girl was clearly ridiculous, especially just so that his uncle would not keep bugging him with other girls in the future.
"We do not know how long that man will continue to pretend, Kevin. I currently can not fully control my own company. Who knows, maybe my own uncle will kill me if I keep rejecting his advice this time? He probably would not got all of my property. But at least he still has a small part of my properties which he now holds in his hands."
Kevin was completely speechless when he heard Evan say those words without the slightest burden. Well, Evan's uncle indeed like a ticking time bomb for them right now. The only thing that keeping Evan alive right now was the fact that his uncle was a man who always greedy for money. The man will not stop until he takes all the treasures currently owned by Evan. But if Evan continues to play hard, it is possible that the man will take shortcuts by killing him and then claiming the company he currently holds. It's not much. But at least it would be enough, to feed his extravagant family for a few years.
Kevin finally sighed, as he looked at Evan who still looked calm when the man observes his expression.
"...So, you are going to invite the girl here?" Kevin asked for sure. Evan once again nodded confidently. "Also prepare a letter of agreement in her favor for tomorrow's meeting. I will use it, just in case, so she does not try to kill me in our second meeting," Evan informed. Kevin knew Evan was not joking with what he said. The man once again let out a tired breath, as he finally rose from his seat.
"Okay. I will do it Evan," Kevin said a little resignedly.
