Chapters. 6 Unforgettable
"With confidence. Timun Mas threw the last packet of shrimp paste. Instantly, the place where the shrimp paste fell suddenly transformed into a boiling sea of mud. As the monster passed by. The monster plunged into the sea of mud and died instantly. Timun Mas was saved from being chased and eaten by the monster. Timun Mas returned to his mother's house. Then they lived happily ever after. It's over," said Devina, reading a typical children's fairy tale from Indonesia entitled 'Timun Mas'. She closed the picture book in her hand. Devina frowned as she saw that Caca had not fallen asleep. While Mike seemed to have sunk into his dreams.
"How come Caca isn't asleep yet? Dad is the one who has slept here first," Devina said with an amused smile. She shook her head several times. Caca glanced at her father. Then did the same thing.
"Hehe. Actually, Caca wants to go to the toilet first. But, the story is almost finished. So, I'll hold back," she said with a smile.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier. It's not good to hold your pee. Already there you go to the toilet first. Caca is brave, right? Or do you need Mommy to accompany you?"
"I'm brave." Caca quickly got up and jumped off the bed before running towards the toilet.
"Eh, don't run, you'll slip!" Devina shouted worriedly.
"Yes, Mommy," Caca replied without turning around. Within seconds, the little boy disappeared from Devina's sight. Devina smiled briefly, then she moved her neck muscles to look forward again. Right when Devina turned her head, Mike's face was already in front of her face. Of course, Devina immediately jumped in surprise.
"Ish. Mike. You're just shocking me. Didn't you sleep earlier?" protested Devina.
"Hehe. How could I sleep before getting a kiss from you first? Come on, kiss me first," Mike replied while advancing his lips towards his wife.
"This is in Caca's room. What if she sees it? I'll kiss her when I get to our room."
"I don't want to. I want it now," Mike replied, spoiled.
"Ish. Why are you more spoiled than Caca? Not ashamed of your beard that almost covers your entire face. Hahaha," Devina quipped jokingly.
"Let it go. It's aesthetic, you know? Besides, I'm handsome. You're not afraid of being taken."
"I'm more afraid of you being taken by a clam. You know, the green clam monster. Hahaha."
"Ish. Why are you going everywhere? I just asked for a kiss before Caca came back. Come on, honey," Mike whined like a child.
"Alright," Devina said finally.
Suddenly, Mike took both of Devina's hands and pressed them against her cheeks. Of course, Mike's unexpected movement shocked Devina. Seconds passed quickly. As fast as the heartbeat of both of them which is getting faster. Little by little, they eroded the distance. Until the moment, their lips almost met....
"Oops!" said a voice that managed to break their romantic moment. Devina immediately straightened her body again. When she saw the princess standing not far from the two of them.
"Ish. You're taking too long," Mike muttered with a disappointed face.
"Hehe. I can't believe you said that," said Devina. Deep inside, Devina felt guilty for Mike and for herself. Well, whatever she wanted to deny. It was undeniable that Mike's lips seemed to have a special magnetism for her.
"Come on. Mommy wants to kiss Daddy?" Caca teased. While walking closer. Mike immediately grabbed the child's small body and lifted him into his lap.
"Your father asked for it."
"No, he didn't. Mommy said she wanted to be alone with Daddy. That's why she wants to kiss Daddy," Mike teased back.
"Oh, I see. Mommy loves Daddy."
"Ish. What's wrong with you guys. Let's go out, it's late and you should go to bed. So does Dad!" Devina pushed Mike's back to get out of that place.
“Do you want to continue in our room?" Mike whispered seductively.
"What are you talking about? Tomorrow you have to get up early to go to the sea?"
"Dad. Don't forget the bike! It was Caca's birthday yesterday!" Caca shouted before her parents closed the door to her room.
"That's listening! Still want to stay up tonight?" Devina whispered.
"You're right!" replied Mike in a whisper, too. "Yes, sweetheart. I won't forget. Caca just pray for me to get a lot of shells and tomorrow I can buy you a bicycle."
"Okay, Dad. Caca always wishes Daddy and Mommy lots of money," replied the boy with sparkling eyes.
"Good girl. Good night, sweetie!" Mike said as he closed his beloved daughter's room.
"You shouldn't promise things that are not certain, Mike."
"Why is that? I could have bought him today."
"Mike. But, the price of the bicycle is even higher. While your wages from looking for shells are only enough to buy our daily needs."
"Honey." Mike held Devina's hand while looking at her earnestly. "I'll look for a lot of shells tomorrow. So we can buy him a bicycle like his friends." Devina looked into Mike's eyes. She knew there was a great desire to always make her and Caca happy in there. For that, Devina smiled. Then she returned Mike's hand.
"Yes. I believe."
The next morning. Mike woke up early. He immediately got ready to go to sea so that he could get a lot of shells.
"Then I'll leave now." Devina nodded firmly. Then both of them got up from their seats on the front porch of their house. Taking the equipment that Mike had to bring along with the provisions that Devina had prepared. When they arrived at the door, Devina escorted Mike away. She took Mike's hand and kissed the back of it. After that, Devina hugged Mike very tightly. It was as if they were going to be apart for a long time and far away from each other.
"What's wrong with you?" asked Mike in surprise. Devina immediately shook her head while releasing the hug.
"It's okay. Like you said earlier. I love you. I miss you."
"Hahaha. I haven't left yet. You already miss me. I promise I'll be back soon." Mike kissed Devina's lips briefly. Fortunately, it was still dark and the front of their house was still very quiet. So no one saw Mike's actions just now. "See you in the afternoon, honey," he said and walked away.
Devina smiled while looking at Mike's back away. Her sweet smile continued to spread. Then she turned around to continue her activities this morning. However, the moment she entered the living room, her surprise was immediate upon seeing Daniel already in her house.
"You? What are you doing here? How did you get in?"
