Chapter 4 Someone Came Looking for Him!
Aaron lay on the bed, watching as Nora sat down beside him. He said, "Was it you who saved me?"
"Yes," Nora replied, feeling his forehead and noticing he still had a slight fever.
The sunlight outside filtered through the windows, casting a soft glow on her face.
Aaron studied her delicate features, surprised that the person who saved him was so young and beautiful.
He tried to move, struggling to sit up.
Nora quickly pressed him down. "Don't move; you can't get up yet."
Aaron sensed something was wrong.
He furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?"
"Your legs are broken, so you can't get out of bed yet."
His legs were broken!
Aaron's face darkened, and he clenched his fists tightly.
He tried to move his legs but found them completely numb. He had survived a disaster, only to become crippled!
Aaron's pupils contracted, and a cold aura surrounded him.
"Don't get agitated; it won't do you any good," Nora said calmly, seeing Aaron's cold and fierce expression. "Don't worry, you won't be bedridden forever. I can heal you."
She could heal his legs!
Aaron's eyes lit up as if someone had pulled him from the icy depths of a lake to the shore, and he could breathe freely again.
"How long will it take to heal my legs?" Aaron asked.
"At least two to three months, at most a year or so. It's hard to say," Nora replied honestly.
Hard to say? Was her medical skill reliable?
"Aren't you a doctor? Why can't you be sure? I want you to heal my leg as soon as possible." Aaron's voice was cold, habitually giving orders.
Nora glanced at him. "Are you ordering me? I saved you out of kindness, and this is how you treat your savior?"
Aaron pressed his thin lips together and scrutinized her again.
"You're so young. Are you really confident you can heal me?"
Nora's red lips curved slightly. "If you don't believe me, you can have your family come and take you away. It's not my obligation to heal you."
It was not the right time to have someone take him away.
Aaron's eyes remained fixed, and he said nothing.
Seeing his silence, Nora asked, "Give me your family's phone number. I'll do a good deed to the end and have them come to take you home."
Aaron's brows furrowed. "I didn't say I don't believe you."
Thinking of the news she heard at the mall, Nora asked, "What's your name, and where are you from?"
Aaron's brown eyes darkened, and he heard Nora continue, "There was big news today, saying that the new president of the Gordon Group was in a car accident, and his life was uncertain. You wouldn't happen to be Aaron, would you?"
The news of his accident had made headlines.
A dark light flashed in Aaron's deep black eyes.
"No," he immediately denied.
Aaron couldn't reveal his true identity to Nora yet, as he needed to keep his whereabouts hidden and find a way to catch the mastermind.
"Really not?" Nora looked at him inquisitively.
"No," Aaron still denied.
Nora squinted her eyes. "But your clothes are of good quality."
Though damaged, the craftsmanship was clearly from a renowned designer.
Hearing the word "clothes," Aaron suddenly realized that his body under the blanket was nearly bare.
His eyes deepened as he looked at Nora. "Did you help me take off my clothes?"
"Who else?" Nora retorted.
Aaron was speechless.
Nora had seen him completely!
"If you're not Aaron, then who are you?" Nora scrutinized Aaron, seeing his cold demeanor, her eyes narrowed. "You wouldn't be the leader of a criminal organization, chased by enemies and fell off a cliff, would you?"
Aaron was speechless.
What was she thinking?
"Mommy, the man has amnesia," Samantha peeked in from the doorway, running in with her short legs.
Alex and Billy followed closely behind.
"Amnesia?" Nora looked at Aaron skeptically.
Aaron's eyes flickered, and he responded with a nod.
Since the children had given him an excuse, he might as well pretend to have amnesia.
"Mommy, it seems he has no money to pay for medical expenses. We can only let him stay and work off his debt," Billy suggested to Nora.
Nora raised an eyebrow, her gaze sweeping over Aaron's hands. His hands were long and well-shaped, with a thin layer of calluses on the palms.
Aaron didn't look like a man who could do hard labor, especially since he was currently crippled!
Nora studied Aaron for a moment, shook her head, and after giving him a few more instructions, she left with Alex, Billy, and Samantha.
Watching Nora's slender figure disappear at the door, Aaron let out a long breath.
He looked around, his gaze falling on the bedside table.
There was a phone there, likely left behind by the triplets.
Aaron pressed his thin lips together, reached for the phone, and dialed a number.
Outside.
Nora called Alex upstairs, "Alex, can you help Mommy check what the heir of the Gordon Group, Aaron, looks like?"
Alex, being very smart, instantly connected the dots.
"Mommy, do you suspect that the man we saved is Aaron, the heir of the Gordon Group?"
"It's possible." Nora nodded.
Alex went into the room, took out his computer, and sat upright.
His small, fair fingers danced across the keyboard.
After a while, he furrowed his brows.
"Mommy, I couldn't find any photos of Aaron."
Aaron was mysterious.
Nora raised an eyebrow and glanced at Aaron's profile.
Aaron was twenty-eight years old, the only child in his family. At sixteen, he had already earned dual master's degrees in finance and law, making him an extraordinary individual with high intelligence and education.
Last year, Aaron had just taken over the Gordon Group, and in just over a year, he had already led the company to new heights.
Such a leading figure in the business world would surely be a thorn in many people's sides.
"Alright, if you can't find it, then forget it."
It was better if the person she saved wasn't Aaron to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Nora went downstairs to get the medicine she had prepared. Pushing open the door to the room on the first floor, she saw Aaron resting with his eyes closed.
"Wake up, it's time to take your medicine."
Aaron opened his eyes and looked at the bowl of dark, murky medicine, his brow instinctively furrowing.
"What are you looking at? Are you going to drink it yourself, or should I pinch your nose and force it down?" Nora asked.
Aaron shot her a displeased look. "You're a woman. Could you be a little softer?"
Nora responded with an eye roll. "Do keep this in mind: freeloaders have no say."
Aaron was speechless.
In the future, he would definitely shower Nora with money, making her fawn over him!
"Open your mouth."
After Aaron finished the medicine, seeing his furrowed brow, Nora stuffed a piece of candy into his mouth.
The sweetness masked the bitterness of the medicine, and Aaron's tightly knit brow slightly relaxed.
Nora looked at him. "You really have amnesia and don't remember your name?"
Aaron's eyes flickered. "I don't remember."
Nora thought for a moment. "How about we call you Thomas from now on?"
What a casually chosen name.
"Why Thomas?"
"Just a random pick," Nora answered frankly.
It was the first time in Aaron's life that someone had treated him so casually.
"Where is the father of those three children?" Aaron suddenly thought of something and asked in a low voice.
Hearing this, Nora's face slightly changed.
"Thomas, we are not familiar with each other. Please don't pry into each other's privacy."
Aaron looked at Nora, and after a moment of silence, he said, "I was being presumptuous. If you don't want to talk about it, I won't ask again."
The sunlight outside gradually faded, and it was already dusk.
Aaron suddenly smelled the aroma of the cake.
His Adam's apple moved slightly. "Who's cooking in the house?"
"My three children are baking a cake."
"You let such young children bake a cake?"
"They like cooking themselves; why should I stop them?" A soft light flashed in Nora's eyes.
Her children were truly the best gifts God had given her.
Alex, with his extraordinary intelligence at such a young age, Billy, who took to tailing her into the kitchen as soon as he found his feet, and Samantha, ever so soft and adorable, had completely melted Nora's heart.
"Mommy, the cake is ready. Come and eat!"
"Alright," Nora said, walking out with the empty medicine bowl.
"Mommy, can the man eat cake now?" Samantha asked.
"Not yet."
"Why not!"
"Because his stomach is still very weak."
"Okay then!"
The sound of the mother and children laughing and talking came from outside. Aaron looked at the light and shadows outside the window, feeling that the air had become much fresher.
At dinner time, Nora brought Aaron a plate of cookies and a bowl of mushroom soup.
"You can't eat hard-to-digest food for now, so eat the cookies sparingly. The mushroom soup is more suitable for you," Nora said.
Aaron looked at the light mushroom soup, reluctantly picked it up, and drank it all in one go.
The taste was surprisingly good, so he asked Nora for another bowl.
Then, he elegantly ate the cookies. Nora watched him for a while and secretly pursed her lips.
It was just an ordinary cookie, yet Aaron made it seem like a gourmet meal.
After finishing his meal, Nora couldn't help but sigh, "You have quite an appetite. Feeding you is no easy task."
Aaron was a bit speechless. He had just asked for another bowl of soup, and Nora was already calling him a glutton.
As night fell, the world grew silent, and the earth sank into slumber.
Aaron lay on the bed, listening to the door lock being gently turned. His sharp eyes suddenly opened.
Someone had come looking for him!
