Chapter. 2

I cared for nothing else, and I started running immediately.

"Oh, where are you going?"

He asked as I got further away from him, but since I couldn't answer, I just kept on running.

I arrived in the guest room of my house, and rushed towards the front door. I realized that the door was locked, and it might take time to unlock the door using keys. So I used my speed and momentum, and lifted my foot forward.

BRAAAAKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn… Why is it so easy to break through the door?

I ran outside after breaking the door and the locks. I climbed up the tall metal fence, then I jumped from the top of the fence to the road outside. I fell with my back first to the asphalt floor in front of the gate, and it felt like the pain in my neck got worse.

That fall definitely dislocates some muscles inside my opened neck. The pain was so insane, that I needed a second to just sit there on the ground to forget about the pain.

I started running again after that. As I was getting further, I realized that he wasn't chasing me, so I stopped right outside my neighbour's house.

Realizing my neck just got slit open from inside, and that I couldn't speak for the rest of my life, I really want to know what just happened.

"...khh…"

I tried letting out a sound, but nothing came out besides blood. I don’t even dare to put my fingers inside the hole in my neck.

This wound is more serious than I thought. Did I get stabbed from the inside? That's right, it could be from the drink. But that doesn't explain how as he lifted his hand, my neck bleeds out. Maybe a magnet? Or an explosive? Is he using advanced technology?

Aside from that, I'm trying to hold my sanity from this unbearable pain. To the point that I didn't notice that there was someone nearby.

"Why didn't you run further? You thought I wouldn't chase you?"

Hearing his voice, my heartbeat stopped.

I turned around gradually, and found him slowly floating down in the air, right in the middle of the road only five meters away from me. His black robes are bigger than I thought, and his face...

He took the hood of his black robe off, allowing me to see his face. It was a clean black skull with red pupils as the eyes. There are no gaps on his head, like a skull would. Which means it's not a skull, but a very thin head.

It's like a ghoul I would see in movies. He is truly, without a doubt, a demon.

Seeing as he was waiting for me to react, I mustered up enough energy to my legs and stood up.

I started running again. Holding my neck, I started to think if this was pointless. Hell, I'm dealing with a floating demon here!

I tried screaming. My mouth was opened really wide, and voices can be heard coming out of it, as well as a massive amount of blood. But unfortunately, it was not louder than a cat meowing.

No one could possibly hear it.

Three seconds into running, my body fell due to a sudden input of pain into my brain. I can feel a great pain in the lower part of my body as I slowly fall down, and my head crashes to the asphalt floor causing a massive bleeding. Ouch.

I felt a sharp pain on my lower body, then I realized that the pain I felt on my head was nothing compared to the pain on my lower body.

I lifted my body and just sat down right here, wondering why I couldn’t stand back up. I turned my gaze around, and found the very object that I was looking for.

Why… is my leg over there?

Did I learn some separating body technique, like a lizard? Why are my legs disconnected?

One second passed, and the pain finally arrived on my head again. I tried screaming, very hard. Even the air on my neck couldn't flow properly, only the sound 'haahh' came out from my mouth.

I held my leg with my left hand while my right hand continuously punching the asphalt floor until it bled. My eyes and mouth were widely opened, but no sound came out.

It was so painful, and my eyes turned blood red from the pain. I turned these very eyes towards the person that is already floating towards me, and using these eyes, I asked him.

'Why are you doing this to me...?'

My thought pleaded as I stared at him approaching me. He is actually floating in the air. I am truly facing a demon, and he has now taken my legs away from me, as well as my ability to speak.

"It’s painful, isn’t it? So please, don’t waste any more of my time. I will give you one more chance, so let me ask you again..."

He puts his face close to mine. I really couldn't feel any breathing from him, even though we are 'this' close to kissing.

I can sense death and fear emitting from his red eyes. The feeling of just being next to him puts me in a frozen position. I couldn't feel the pain in my legs anymore, because the intense fear pressure that he lets out doesn't let me to.

I don't think I peed my pants yet, but I'm probably close.

"Where… is She?"

This time, I shook my head. I really don't know what he is talking about, and all these... pain... is insane.

There is a hole in my neck, both my legs are severed, and my head is bleeding rapidly. Left like this, I probably wouldn't survive for... give or take, 30 minutes? Assuming he will just let me bleed out to death.

Having received an answer from me, he stood back up.

"That's too bad. You could've answered sooner, though."

He lifted his hand. I can see his hands clearly now.

The thin fingers aren't because he is thin. It's because he had no skin. It literally was just bones, meaning he had no palms nor anything on his hands.

I really am dealing with a demon.

He lifted his hands that only consisted of black bones without any skin. I can tell he must be going to finally end me. So I accepted my fate, and...

I haven't even closed my eyes…

And my chest was sliced in half.

.

.

.

After blacking out from having my body being cut horizontally, I somehow still had my consciousness.

Though, I can feel my energy slowly leaving me. No, it's more like I, myself, am leaving it.

Luckily, I couldn't feel the pain anymore. My eyes are still open, but I couldn't hear or feel anything. Only my vision is the only working sense that I have, which I believe is fortunate because I don’t wish to leave so quickly and be in the dark for eternity.

Is this... sunrise...?

My brain can barely process anything now, but thankfully, my eyes can still see. I can see that the light is coming from the horizon, gradually turning the skies redder and redder.

I couldn’t feel it, but I can definitely tell that the heat is also arriving on my body due to the sunlight. The air turned warmer, and my eyes felt slowly turning watery.

Watery… tears? Am I tearing up?

Yeah… why wouldn’t I?

To die right now… so unfairly, so one-sidedly…

So… cruelly.

Dying at the age of 17. I haven't even gotten to university yet.

This sucks… this is awful. I don't want to die… not yet.

But this is the reality. It is something that Fate has decided for me, and it is something that will eventually happen to everybody.

But… still…

I don’t… want to die…

Please… somebody, please save me.

I am slowly losing consciousness. My vision started to become blurry and darker. All my senses have already cut off, leaving only my brain and vision to slowly disperse.

My eyes are getting darker. I have no more energy to move them around, which made me only locked on to the skies.

And I am thankful…

Because the skies… are so pretty.

It’s very rare for me to see the sunrise, because most of the time I would just be preparing at my house, so I can go to school. By the time I exited the house, the sun was already quite up.

So I’m very glad that the last thing I see is a beautiful sunrise. The big orange… that is slowly eating away the light blue color, revealing the majestic color merge of red and blue.

Despite all that suffering I felt before I died…

I’m glad I can die in peace like this.

After finally letting go, my vision finally turned complete black. My brain has fully stopped functioning, and the light has disappeared from my eyes.

And finally, I have died.

I couldn’t even think of what was coming, after all, my brain no longer functions. However, this feeling did not last for long.

Only a few seconds after everything had turned dark, energy returned to my body. My eyes found light again, and my brain began functioning once more.

… What is this?

Why didn’t I die?

This should’ve been impossible. It’s been hours since I’ve died, I have definitely lost way too much blood. So… which begs the question.

How am I still alive?

It was right there and then, the light that was previously showing me the skies above me, turned much darker. It became the silhouette of a person, who is now placing her face right above mine.

So… someone finally found me?

But, can I still be saved?

Nope. But, I am still capable of having my consciousness. I am still capable of seeing very clearly. I’m not sure how this is possible, but it allows me to see the face of the person that is above my face.

Who… is she?

It’s a woman, but it’s not my mom, nor my sister. It’s not a neighbor either, because I know what all of my neighbors look like.

The face... The robe... The beauty... The white hair...

She is beautiful. Very beautiful.

She has white hair that is flowing down right next to my dead face. Her eyes are pale white as well. It’s as if she is an angel from the movies, she is really beautiful.

Her mouth, it’s moving. She is saying something... What is it?

I couldn't hear what she was saying, so I tried focusing all the life force I had left to my ears just so that I could hear one last time.

Fortunately… I barely did it.

"...I’m sorry… I’m sorry…"

She kept on muttering it continuously. Panic is written all over her face, and it didn’t take much energy out of me to finally piece the pieces together.

She… must be the person that the demon was looking for.

In that case... She doesn't have to apologize. If I die having to protect a beauty like you from a demon like that, I'm willing to die a million times.

Haha, come to think about it, I never had anyone like a girlfriend, huh. All my life has been wasted because I just focused too much on getting good grades.

After being able to hear a voice one last time, my mouth was able to curl into a grin. My energy was completely wasted on those two things, and finally I fell into the deep darkness once again.

This time… there is no more light.

Damn…

I'm finally dead, huh?
