Chapter 1: First Day Back

Tricia's POV

For some reason this morning I woke up before my alarm, and Stacey is sitting uneasy and nervous in the back of my mind.

Hey Tricia, do you feel that? Stacey asked.

Yeah but I can’t tell if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. We need to just continue to go on our way that way and just try to survive the day. I told her. There’s not much I can tell her that will put our mind at ease.

I roll out of bed and my feet hit the soft carpet. I could sit like this all day if I had the chance. The carpet in my room is a cream coffee color and super soft. My walls are a baby blue and I have a king sized four poster bed sitting directly across from my door and in between two floor-ceiling windows. I have a huge walk in closet with more clothes than I could even imagine to wear in a lifetime. There’s a wall that separates the bathroom and the closet but a door that links the two together. My bathroom walls are white with checkered tile floors, couples sinks, a jacuzzi bath tub and a walk in shower with 3 heads that rain down on you from the ceiling.

I walk to the bathroom and start my morning routine. After using the toilet and brushing my teeth I take a quick warm shower. When I’m done with my shower I go to my closet and look around for what I’m going to wear today. I settle for a cream-colored crop top with black skinny jeans and nude heals. I go back to the bathroom and blow dry my hair before doing my make-up. Nothing special just my normal eye liner, mascara, and some tan colored eye shadow to really make my emerald colored eyes pop. As for my jet-black hair I settle on an elegant messy bun.

When I’m finished I make my way downstairs to the kitchen where Silvia is preparing dinner for all that live in the pack house (about 300 members).

“Good morning Silvia, how are tour kiddos doing?” I ask.

Silvia is a younger woman in our pack. She is exactly what you would picture to be as a ginger. Red hair, blue eyes, freckles the whole nine yards, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t beautiful. She also stands about 5’4”. Werewolves have natural beauty, but some people just get an extra advantage when it comes to genes.

“Good morning Alpha, they are all doing well I just wish that the baby would learn sleep is important.” She said with a chuckle. “But I’m not going to hold my breath.” And that causes both of us to laugh.

“What’s for breakfast this morning?” I asked her because I feel like I’m starving.

“Well I was thinking we could have eggs, bacon, sausage, and French toast.” Silvia informed me.

“Alright well just let me know when its done. I’ll be in my office if you need anything what so ever.” I tell her with a smile.

I walk to my office that sets at the end of a hallway. I like where my office is because as long as my door is open then I can see whoever walks into my home. It has an older mahogany desk with matching shelves. The shelves have files of every pack member. My father liked to keep order in everything he did which included making sure that everyone had a roll to play by what they were good at and what they wanted to do. On the right side of the room is a liquor cabinet along with whiskey glasses and shot glasses. On the left is a round table with about 15 chairs around it. On the right side of the door on the inside is a leather couch with a coffee table in front of it. In front of my desk are two chairs with leather backs and seats. Over all it’s a pretty cozy office with a very warm vibe to it.

“Beta Taylor, I require you in my office before I leave for school this morning. But I do want you to eat breakfast before you come to see me.” I said through the mind link.

“Yes Alpha.” He replied.

I’m so glad that the pack welcomed me with open arms and didn’t appose me being Alpha. After all I do have alpha blood in my veins. As a pack and a community, we have all become closer after losing the Alpha and the Luna. I also lost my parents. The only family I had left in this world. My parents were amazing people. The pack loved and respected them. That’s why I can’t disappoint them, that’s why I must be strong and give them something to be proud of.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by a throat clearing. When I looked up I see that Silvia is standing in the door way of my office and she has my breakfast and some warm honey sweet tea.

“Sorry Alpha, I didn’t know that you were busy. Here is your breakfast.” She said.

“No, I’m the one to blame. I take it you tried the mind link?” I asked.

“I did, but when I got no response I assumed that you must be busy, so I brought your food.” She replied.

“Oh, okay. Well thank you.” I said with gratitude in my voice.

Silvia leaves as Beta Taylor walks in.

“You wanted to see me Alpha.” He stated while taking a set.

“Yes, please have a seat.” I told him, and he did as I asked. “The reason why I have called you here is to discuss something that should have at least some importance.”

“Alright. Whatever you need I’m here to help in any way that I can.” He said with a genuine smile on his face.

“I will be going back to the school today. I intend to finish my last year of high school.” I told him, and he nodded in reply. “Now, what I need for you to do for me is to make sure we have plenty of snacks and drinks for myself and Alpha Richards. Him and I are having a meeting and I expect you and Delta Thomas to be here with me when he arrives.”

“Yes Alpha, what time will he be arriving?” Beta Taylor asked.

“He will be here around 4 o’clock this afternoon. So, I will be home before he arrives.” I told him.

“Alright, I’ll see you when you get home. Have a nice day at school.” He said then got up to leave.

“Oh and Alpha?” He said but it sounded more like a question.

“Yes, what is it?” I inquired.

“Your parents would be very proud of all you have accomplished and the decisions you have made since they’ve been gone.” Beta Taylor told me with a sad smile before exiting the room leaving me alone with my thoughts.

School went by fast. It’s like I arrived and walked through the doors and then turned around and walked back out the front doors five minutes later. The day was pretty much uneventful since the teachers were members of the pack, and I didn’t fall behind in school too far.

I never figured out what the uneasy feeling was and it is still very present. Even Stacy thinks something important is going to happen today. I am just praying to the moon goddess that everything goes smoothly this after noon with Alpha Richards.
