Chapter 6
After the attack on the school happened Symphony finally agreed to stay home for now until this person was caught. When they got back to the mansion Alexander helped her up to her room and told her to rest, he would handle things. When he left her, she was slowly slipping into sleep. He hoped that she would have a restful sleep but with what she witnessed today he doubted that would happen.
He made his way to his office while he scrolled through the numbers in his phone when he finally found the one, he was looking for he dialed it. It rang 3 times before the voicemail picked up.
“Hey, Its Alexander. I need your help. Please call me back at this number.” Alexander left the message.
While he waited for a call back, he sent a message to his tracker to see if he had found anything and he also sent a message to Gavin to have him send over the security footage from today at the school, they arrived shortly after. Alexander spent hours going through the footage from that morning frame by frame, trying to find something. The only thing that he found was what looked like the guards’ fighting ghosts, there were no other people seen fighting besides his guards and he did not like that one bit. That meant that the attackers had help from some other being to camouflage themselves. This spelled trouble. If the attackers could be cloaked, then they would be untraceable and could show up and take Symphony without anyone even noticing their presence.
Alexander ran up to Symphony’s room and she was fast asleep. He texted Gavin and let him know what he had found and told Gavin to not disturb him. Alexander then sat on the couch by the window and watched over Symphony.
Symphony had a restless sleep, she kept seeing the guards that Alexander had put in place to protect her being killed by some unseen force and it scared her. She was relieved when she saw Alexander walk into the gym looking for her. She didn’t know what he was doing there because she thought that he had went home but she didn’t care, he was her protector.
When she awoke, she was taken back by the figure of Alexander sleeping on the couch in her room. She didn’t realize that she had been out for so long, when she fell asleep it was still light out and now it was pitch black. She gently shook Alexander awake and he apologized for falling asleep as he wanted to keep her safe. Symphony chuckled and rolled her eyes at him.
“Come on sleepy head, Ill make us some dinner” Symphony giggled as she headed out of her bedroom.
Now it was Alexanders turn to roll his eyes.
“Hey, she’s a good cook” Dax remarked
“That she is” Alexander quietly agreed.
When he arrived in the kitchen, he could already smell the meatloaf cooking. His stomach rumbled. Before he was able to step into the kitchen he was stopped by a serious looking Gavin.
“We need to talk” Gavin said sternly.
“We will. But first Symphony made meat loaf and it would be a shame to eat it cold.”
“It can’t wait” Gavin insisted.
Alexander at that point was getting a little heated from the way Gavin was talking to him. He knew what he had to say was important, but it could wait until after dinner. He gave Gavin a look that made him cower; he went to say something but decided against it as Symphony had come to get Alexander for dinner. Alexander did not need Symphony knowing what was going on at the moment, he knew that she was under enough stress.
They ate in silence, which made Symphony uneasy. Very seldom did Alexander try to hide anything from her but tonight was different. She knew that he wanted to protect her but at the same time she hated being shut out, especially when it concerned her. She also noticed that the normally cool and collected Gavin was on edge. Something was definitely up, and she was going to get to the bottom of it. Her wolf agreed but wanted her safe as well.
After they all finished eating Symphony started to clean up the kitchen. Both Alexander and Gavin kept giving her a look like they should tell her what was on their minds. She cleared the table and started on the dishes and thought she could hear them whispering in the dining room. She tried to listen in with her wolf hearing but even that did not work, stupid Lycan’s, she thought to herself.
When she made her way back to the dining room the boys had stopped talking altogether. She was a little annoyed by this but when she saw Alexanders face, she decided not to say anything. From the looks of thing Alexander and Gavin had been having a heated discussion about something and they didn’t look pleased with each other. Symphony shrugged her shoulders and told them she was heading up to take a shower and head to bed. They nodded.
“I will be having extra guards outside your door and also on your balcony tonight” Alexander said before she left the room “I know you don’t like the idea, but it is to keep you safe.”
She nodded and headed up to her room.
“Now that she is gone, we can continue our earlier discussion in my office” Alexander told Gavin as he stood.
They made their way to Alexanders office on the other side of the house, away from prying ears.
“Now what was so important that you forgot who you were speaking with” Alexander asked Gavin, a little annoyed.
“I apologize about that sir, I forgot myself.” Gavin said before he continued “The attack that happened today, it was no random attack. Whoever attacked the school had been planning this for awhile and had outside help. They were not able to be tracked by our best trackers and from what I saw on the videos our guards had no way to see them. This is not good sir, for any of us. The only ones that can pull something like this off are the witches.”
Alexander furrowed his brow; he hadn’t really given the witches a thought he automatically came to the conclusion it was rogues.
“I never gave it a thought that the witches would be involved in this. I knew that whatever had masked the attackers had to be a strong force, but I thought that it was just the rogues. The possibility of the witches makes sense because with their power they can do anything, including making the guards think they are being attacked by an unseen force. They don’t however hang up their victims and attach notes to their bodies that was definitely the work of rogues” Alexander said.
Alexander then sent Gavin away. He needed to think and come up with a plan. He hoped that the message he had sent earlier would be responded to sooner rather than later. This needed the big guns called in the only person that he knew was that qualified was his uncle, Damion.
