CHAPTER 2 CAN IT GET ANY WORSE??

Gemma's POV

As I kept running, making sure to hurry up and get away from the Alphas, I kept thinking back to them.

They had confused me about why I was in his arms. Why were they here? How? When? The worst thing I could feel was how safe I felt in Alpha Asher's arms. Don't get me wrong; they are super cool-looking. Being a wolf, I wanted to jump their bones, but the way they treated me made me hate them, and they hated me too. The worst part is that they saw all my scars, and the way they spoke to me was all new, but I didn't trust them one bit. Arriving at my gate, I gulped as I knew what was coming. I didn't need to open the door, as Khloe must have smelled me coming. She opened the door, and she was fuming, pulling me in by my arm. I screamed, but it was cut off by a slap.

"I don't have time for your pissing around. Do you think I'm a fool? Your teacher is ringing me because you're fucking around. Who do you think you are, leaving school? And another thing, I kicked you out early this morning. Why the fuck were you late?"

asked Khloe as she landed a punch right in my mouth, splitting my lip open.

She smirked, but something inside clicked. I pushed her back; the smirk was soon replaced with blackness. "You little tramp, who do you think you are? Wait till Richard is back; you're going to be my bitch for longer than I will kill you myself."

She marched toward me, slapping me on the side of my face over and over. I was crying and begging her, "Please stop it! Please, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry; I didn't mean to."

Picking me up by my hair, yanking and pulling me toward the basement door, and coming to the steps, she threw me down.

The minute I hit the floor, I must have blacked out.

Opening my eyes what felt like hours later, my head was hurting. There was dried blood on the floor and all over me, and my face; my nose felt sore to the touch. My fingers and knuckles were cut and bloody. My head was hurting, my side was killing me, both my arms were sore, and for some odd reason, I couldn't feel my legs. I thought I’d try to get up, but I couldn't.

"I see you're alive, you bitch. Richard will be back soon, then watch you, rat," I heard Khloe shout. I didn't reply, as I knew it would probably kill me.

Khloe never liked me; she says I'm an abomination, I'm a curse, and I know she's right. But why does she keep me alive? Why help Richard to save me? Why not let me be slaughtered at the hands of my own real family, by my blood?

It was getting later and later, and there was no sign of Richard yet. I wondered why. Well, how wrong was I? No longer than five minutes later, I heard Richard's car pull up. It's amazing to know that I can hear from miles away. Don't get me wrong; I do need to clear my mind, but listening to the birds and other animals can be quite relaxing, especially while living my life.

I heard the door opening, and straight away, I heard Richard say, "You need to sort your bitch of a niece out."

"Why? What's happened? And lose the tone with me, Khloe. I've had a busy day at work. What's your issue?" sneered Richard, as the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

All of a sudden, I felt happy to be in the basement.

"Well, Richard, you are not the only one with a job, and let me inform you that I had to leave my work early, which got me into trouble with my boss—all because your niece can't be on time and then decided she could leave school and everything would be alright. That's not all; despite me telling her to get home and hurry up, she didn't. Then, to top it all off, Richard, she pushed me," replied Khloe to Richard.

"Gemma pushed you? Wow, that's shocking! She's getting too big for her boots, but is it my fault the teacher rang you? And let me guess, it was your friend Shaw?"

"That's not the point! What are you going to do? I will kill her, let me tell you!" I heard Khloe shouting, but she must have been cut off as she went silent. However, I did hear a slap.

Maybe Richard slapped her; well, she deserves it anyway, I thought, with a bit of a smirk on my face.

"I hate you! I'm not coming back; we are done. Don't bother coming or ringing me, as you're getting blocked. Remember, I'm a strong witch with a wolf, so you can go and be with your niece. I will kill her and ruin your plan," was all Khloe said as the front door opened and slammed shut.

"Oh wow, Khloe's left; now I'm in for it more."

I heard banging around; it sounded like a chair was being moved. The door to the basement opened, and I could tell he was bringing the chair with him.

"Well, well, well, Gemma, you are fucked. Khloe's gone, and it's all your fault. I will make you pay; you will do as I say."

Richard put the chair in front of me, then yanked me up and dragged me towards it, sitting me down. He yanked my arms behind me. He then went to his pocket and pulled out a pair of handcuffs. I gulped, and Richard saw me do it.

"Oh, you will be scared. Trust me, Gemma, I will make you pay. And if Khloe doesn't come back, well, it won't be good for you. Just wait until the minute you turn 18; you won't see daylight again."

What did he mean by that? When I turn 18, I will not see daylight anymore.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when Richard punched me straight in my already broken nose. I screamed and screamed, crying for someone to cut me off with a knife to my throat. I didn't even see him hold it.

As he was making small, deep cuts on my back and shoulders, I became numb to the pain. My back went numb, and I closed my eyes for Richard to slap me again.

"Open your bastard eyes! Did I say you could sleep?" As I felt the knife dig into my shoulder more and more, I felt blood pouring. Richard said, right in my face, bending down to make eye contact, "I see the truth. Richard, he really did hate me; he didn't like me. It brought back the memory of when I made the mistake of calling him 'uncle.' I was battered for it. He and Khloe took their turns hurting me."

"You will sit in this chair all night. You will not move, and tomorrow you will be staying home to clean and cook me and Khloe a nice dinner. You will say you're sorry, and don't bother acting, as I will know. I will kill you, Gemma. Don't think I'm a clown; I will make you suffer for everything. Let me tell you something: stay away from the Alphas. I can smell them on you, even if it's old. Do you understand, you stupid dog?"

I couldn't reply, so I nodded my head. I was dreading staying in this chair all night. I'm going to die tonight, and there's nothing I can do. I'm a goner. Well, it's not been nice being me; maybe I will have better luck in hell. Who was I kidding?

I felt tired all of a sudden, closing my eyes as I let the darkness come. I couldn't help but think of the Alphas. All of a sudden, I wanted the Alphas, and I don't know why. I don't like them, and they don't like me. Staying in the chair all night, my body is riddled with pain.

Waking up a few hours later, I still wanted the Alphas, especially Alpha Asher. I needed him, but he hated me, just as I hated them. What is wrong with me? I hadn't already hidden from them, yet now all I could think of was them.
