CHAPTER 6 2 YEARS LATER (17th bday)

Gemma's pov

It's been two years since I ran away with the help of the Alphas, but I didn't trust them, so I ran from them, and it was the best decision I could have made. Although I kept feeling bad for what I had done, as they helped me leave, I left them too. I haven't heard from or seen them since.

I felt ashamed for what I had done to them, but it was the best thing I could have done, as I met a lovely couple called Maggie and John. I heard they became full Alphas, taking complete control. I was happy for them, but I couldn't understand why.

Maggie and John welcomed me with open arms into their home, and it was the best thing I had done. Sadly, I wasn't able to go back to school or college, which I wasn't too bothered about. Maggie decided she would be better at teaching me at home. She also told me how powerful I am, and when she did a spell to prove what I was, she couldn't believe it. I was a tribrid, the last of my kind.

Maggie and John had two children: a girl and a boy, Emily and Sean. I was shocked it was Emily; I never thought I’d see her again, but even better, we are now sisters bonded by family. I got on well with both of them. Maggie was a half-wolf, half-witch—a powerful hybrid, one of the strongest. It turns out John used to be the pack Beta and a relative of the Alphas, but they both reassured me they wouldn't know where I was. I know the Alphas helped me, but they hated me.

Maggie also explained how I'm a powerful, special creature, although I didn't feel it and don't feel power. It's because I was weak every day, and my body was forever healing and taking my energy.

Now I'm starting to feel stronger. I'm beginning to realize that I will seek my revenge on Richard and Khloe. I couldn't do anything to the Alphas, and they did help me in the end.

Today was my birthday, and John, along with the rest, wanted to make it special. But what they didn't understand was that they made it special without doing anything.

"When Emily and Sean are back, we will be celebrating and watching a scary movie all together. As you're going to be 18 soon, as much as I don't want you to turn into an adult, you are, and you're a special person, Gemma. Don't let anyone tell you any different," said John. As he hugged me, he was the father I didn't have, and Maggie was the mum I'd never had.

I was having a magic lesson with Maggie as she taught me to open a portal using my mind so I could travel anywhere I wanted. It's good to know, as I've never been out of the country.

I've only gone to the borders where Maggie and John own a few holiday cabins, and they were stunningly beautiful. Maggie created them using her magic, which was an amazing feeling.

As the day went on and Maggie was showing me how to create a portal, she also taught me about healing potions, death, and curses. It was a lot to take in all in one day.

Time was going by fast, and before I knew it, Sean and Emily were back along with John five minutes later.

"Happy birthday, Gemma! I got you this."

I took the box she gave me and opened it.

Emily said, "I hope you like it."

I replied, "I love it." It was a blue-gold chain with a diamond teardrop. I had tears in my eyes. Emily helped me put it on. I said, "I won't ever take this chain off. I love it; thank you so much; it means a lot."

Sean walked up to me, saying, "It's my turn. Here, here you go, sister."

I took a similar box, opened it, and got a gold locket. One side had a picture of John and Maggie, and the other side had me, Sean, and Emily. Now that did make me cry happy tears.

"Thank you so much, both of you, in fact, all of you. I've had a special day today, and I will never forget it. I don't know how to ever pay any of you back."

"Don't be silly. You made our day by being here and being yourself, and that's more than enough."

"Now come on, let's eat and get the party started. Here is your first glass of wine," said John.

As we were having a good time, there was a loud knock at the door. I froze and said, "Who's that?"

John replied, "Go to the kitchen; I can smell the alphas."

I ran to the kitchen with Emily and Sean, along with Maggie behind me.

John opened the door and said, "Hello, alphas. How can I help? Is everything alright?"

Jayden replied, "We got wind that an attack will be happening on the pack. We don't know when, but we're warning you. You will all come and stay at the pack house, Uncle John."

John replied, "I can't do that, boys. Maggie and the kids won't move, but I'll get Maggie to put a barrier around our house and land."

"Please, Uncle John, come with us. Our family won't leave you unprotected," said Logan.

"Boys, we can't leave Maggie. Don't you know what happened years ago? The pack won't agree because she's different; she's a hybrid, and I don't need them treating her differently, boys."

"Alright, Uncle John, but promise me you'll be safe, be on alert, and watch your backs. We will pop in from time to time to make sure everyone is alright. If you hear anything, please let us know, Uncle."

"Of course, boys, and you be careful and watch yourselves. Thanks for the warning, alphas."

I, Sean, Maggie, and Emily were in the kitchen. I was shitting myself. What if they come into the kitchen and see me? I'm doomed. They will drag me back to Richard.

After we heard John saying goodbye to the alphas, I was nervous. I told the others, "What if they find me? I'm going for a walk in the forest."

Emily said, "Let me come with you. I don't want you to be alone in the dark."

"No, it's alright. I'll be fine. You go and chill out. I love going to the forest; it's relaxing listening to the wild."

As I left the front door and started to walk deeper into the forest, I came to my place, which is the lake. It's an amazing place to come and relax. I can't believe I've never known about this place before, but then again, I wasn't allowed to go out, only to school and back. How my life has changed! I feel light in my life and not just darkness anymore...

The next minute, I heard footsteps, and I turned around, never guessing who I was looking at. I couldn't believe they were standing there—the alphas...

Alpha Jayden said, "Who are you, and why are you here? You shouldn't be here?"

Truth be told, I was kind of glad they didn't recognize me, but my heart was hurting because they didn't know me; what was going on with my mind? I knew the minute I replied and turned fully around, they would know who I was.

"Oh, Alphas, can't you remember me? Let's not play games."

Logan looked shocked and said, "How are you here? Everyone said they saw you leaving the pack borders. We looked everywhere for you"

"What does it matter? I'm not letting you take me back to that monster of an uncle of mine called Richard and there's no way I'm going to live with you and become your slave," I said.

Asher then spoke up, "He has been looking for you day and night, going out of his mind. He is not happy because we helped you, and we will do it again."

"Oh really? My heart bleeds for him. He's good at acting; he didn't give a shit about me. All he's good at is being evil."

Jayden took a step towards me. I told him, "Don't come any closer; I'll hurt you. I've not forgotten all the horrible shit you've done to me."

"We are not going to hurt you, Gemma, but we did try to find you. What we did to you wasn't right, and we're sorry for that. I know it doesn't make it any better, but please, we were young and stupid. We've grown up a lot; we're alphas, and we've changed our way of living," said Logan.

"I will never trust any of you," I said, sadness in my voice.

Jayden didn't believe I'd hurt him and tried to come closer, so I flipped my wrist, silver and red light surrounding my hands, my eyes glowing silver with a spot of red. I shouted to them, "Back off now! I mean it; I will hurt you."

Jayden still didn't listen, so I flipped my wrist, sending them flying back. When they landed on their backs, they got up and looked at me in shock. They didn't think I would do it, but I did.

After they got up, Jayden stepped a little forward, saying, "We don't and won't hurt you. We're only here because of your amazing smell, and when we saw you, our wolves told us you are our MATE from years ago. But when you ran, we didn't get to tell you. Gemma, you should feel it like we do. We feel the connection, and I'm sure you do too."

So I screamed at him, "Don't make me laugh! I don't feel anything, idiots! I'm not 18 yet, and even if I were, I would reject your arses. Do you understand, Alphas? After all you've done to me, yes, you helped me escape, but you were going to make me your slave?"

"Listen, Gemma, I know you don't trust us, and I get that after everything we've done—but one thing is clear: you are our mate, and we will make it right. We will make it up to you. We want you. We were searching for two whole years, but when Uncle John said you left the pack, we did reach out to other Alphas, but no luck. We prayed to the Moon Goddess that you would come back to us," Logan said.

"Richard also declared war on us because we helped you escape. We did tell him you left the pack as well," said Asher.

"Richard wasn't happy; he smashed up the whole house because we let you go and, of course, helped you," said Jayden.

"Just think about it: with us, Gemma, you will feel the mate bond closer to your birthday, and we won't let you reject us without giving us a chance. We know we've done wrong, and we want to make it up to you," said Logan.

I just rolled my eyes as if I’d give them a chance. I don’t think so at all. I need to warn Maggie that there’s got to be a way to break the bond. I could never be with her. Never give them a chance.
