4-stranger

“I’d rather die than follow you anywhere.” I hissed at Samantha’s face. She looked shocked that I would say such a thing.

There was no way I actually was going to follow her. This could be a trap to kill me.

I was already creating a plan in my head. It was a simple plan. In the dead of the night, I was going to run away, start a new life, and stay the hell away from this pack.

“Alpha” Samantha said rushing to her feet and bowing her head.

I turned ready to give Kaden a spiteful bite, but then I saw his father.

I bowed my head in submission. Kaden’s father was a father to me. He adored me as his own since he always wanted a daughter but never got one since his wife was incapable of giving birth to another child.

“Alpha” I bowed my head. Greeting him.

“You Caused a scene today. You know how important today is for Kaden!” He said raising his voice at me. I moved back from the shock.

He had never spoken to me this way before.

“But he is my mate?” I said in a small voice, hoping he would reason with me and understand. Kaden’s dad was all about mates and all, I hoped that he of all people would understand why I reacted that way and even speak some sense to Kaden.

“no, your bond with him was nothing but a mistake that the goddess made, one which we must correct. You simply cannot be Mated to Kaden”

I looked at him with disbelief. This was the same man who taught me how to ride a bike, the person who was there for me when I would come home with injuries as a child and he would calm me down and make the pain go away.

I thought he of all people would support me. I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat as I looked at him.

“and why are you against him mating with me?”

I said raising my head so that I could at least show that his words didn’t affect me.

The pain found it a perfect time to show itself again, causing my knees to buckle.

“You see that? That right there is the reason why. A leader is meant to be strong, his partner is meant to be someone who would make him stronger” he crunched down to where I was on the floor. “You, on the other hand, are weak. You’re just an orphan with no power, no wolf, an unimportant member of the pack”

I felt like I had been punched in the guts by him.

Is this how he had always felt about me?

My mind went back to the first time, Kaden and I told him that we were dating. I remember the smile on his face along with Luna’s face.

Was it all a lie?

Did he really despise me and think of me that way?

“Take her to the infirmary, and make sure that this nonsense she is spewing out of her mouth doesn’t reach anyone in the pack.

“yes alpha” Samantha said, like a lap dog.

I was getting weaker and weaker, I could barely sit up straight.

I heard people talking and then Eric came through my door, carrying me like I weighed nothing.

I tried to fight him, tried to shove him away but my body was numb. My words came out in a mumble.

I was placed on the bed and people started touching me from everywhere.

“stop, don’t touch me. I just want to be left alone, I want to die.” No one seemed to be hearing me.

“Her wolf is going into forceful heat!” the doctor yelled.

I didn’t know what she meant by that, I could actually care less about what she meant. I just wanted it to end.

“what does that mean” Samantha sounded scared, ready to ball out her eyes.

“Whoever her mate is, if they don’t get here soon, she might go on a rampage, or just end up dying.

Sam rushed out of the room, going to call Kaden when I held her back.

“don’t go” It was embarrassing how I had walked out of there after throwing a tantrum but for him to see me in this state was not something I was willing to risk.

“You can’t be serious!” the tears she had been fighting finally dropped. “look I know you’re mad, but your life is at stake. I know he is not heartless, he would answer if he knew it this important”.

“he doesn’t have to mark, just scent you enough that your wolf is calm enough for us to find a permanent solution.” The doctor added.

I reluctantly let go of her wrist that I had caught while she was rushing out.

I started to see the sun go down from the opposite window but no Kaden.

Soon after. Samantha walked into the room, the look on her face told me everything I needed to know.

“I’m sorry,” she said falling on her knees beside me.

I looked at her.

At this point, to say anything was so much work.

I laid down on the bed.

This was it, this was really it.

How I was going to die.

I half expected him to at least care that I was dying.

Was he phased when you told him?

Did he even care that I was dying?

These questions kept running through my mind as I lay on the bed.

Sometime in the night, my body stopped aching.

My head stopped spinning and...

I moved my hands, they could move.

I sat up too fast.

He came, he really came.

“easy,” he said, only that his voice didn’t sound like Kaden’s at all.

He was scent marking me.

I could barely see him in the dark, but I knew for sure that the man that stood in front of me, scent marking me was not my mate...

He left before I could identify who he really was and I immediately felt tired, closing my eyes and welcoming sleep.
