Chapter 5
Anthony
I walked into the bathroom and stood under the shower. Jace was going to kill me if he ever found out. But I loved her. I always had, and now I'm more in love with her. I heard someone knocking on my door, so I turned off the shower.
“Who is it?”
“Damn dude, you're still in the shower?”
“I was making some calls. I'll be down in a minute.”
"Good, the grill is on, the beer is outside, and the rest of the gang will be here shortly.”
“okay.”
After my shower, I stood in front of the closet mirror and looked at my chest. I had about four hickeys on my chest. I never allowed anyone to leave marks on my skin. I would let her do anything she wanted. I pulled my shirt on and left. I found Jace in the backyard. I grabbed a beer from the cooler and sat next to him.
“What happened to your mom?”
“My dad lied. she just wanted to see Callie, and that did not go well.”
“Oh damn, that's bad, huh?”
“I understand, the things they said to Callie when she told them she wasn't going to be a lawyer were worse than what they said to me.”
“What's Callie doing now?”
"Designer, and she's fucking good.”
We heard someone calling.
“We're in the backyard.”
I saw the gate open, and Mark, Chris , David, Alice, and the others walked in. It was now a full-on party, it was close to seven, and when people started showing up, I just looked at Jace. I was watching the door, waiting for her to show up. I was sitting facing the back door talking to Mark when I saw her coming out of the house. At that very moment, I felt someone wrap their arms around me. I saw the look on Callie's face, and I stood up immediately.
“Hey Anthony, you didn't tell me you were coming here.”
"Rachel, please leave me alone.”
I walked away and left her.
I went to grab another beer, and a guy standing there just looked at me.
“Who's the hot babe over there?”
There were quite a few women around, but none of them could hold a candle to my Callie.
“Who?”
“Short girl, brown hair with the shorts and blue t-shirt. I wouldn't mind tapping that ass tonight. She looks like she would be a wild fuck.”
“What the fuck did you just say?”
“Woah Chill out, dude, if you want her, fine. We can tag team that ass.”
I grabbed him by the throat so fucking fast that he dropped the beer.
“What the fuck did you just say?”
“Let me go.”
Jace ran over to me.
"Anth, let him go, don't kill him.”
“Ask him to repeat what he just said; as a matter of fact, if you say it, I'll knock your fucking teeth out of your mouth.”
“What did you say, Jason?”.
“I just asked about the chick in the blue shirt.”
“He had some really interesting things to say.”
“Were you talking shit about my baby sister? He looked at all of them. Let me make something clear: the one there is My baby sister, anybody tries anything and you're fucking dead, get it, if I don't kill you, he will do it on my behalf, Got it?".
I let him go.
“Get the fuck out of here.”.
Callie
I was bored sitting in my room. When I stepped into the backyard,he was the first person I saw, then Rachel God, dammit. I was talking to Alice when I saw Anthony grab someone. I didn't look at him, but I heard everything. I knew Anthony had a nasty temper. I saw Rachel walking over to me.
“Hey Callie It's good to see you.”
“Hey Rachel, How have you been?”
"Oh, I'm good. I guess you already heard.”
“Heard What?” I asked, feigning interest.
“Anthony and I are together.”
Alice looked at me, then at her.
“Really, that's nice.”
I saw the malicious look in her eyes, she couldn't hide it. Alice looked at me.
“Oh, please, Rachel I know that's not true.”
“How would you know Alice? Besides, I was with him last night,go ask him yourself.”
"Fine, I will.”
“Anthony, would you be a sweetheart and come over for a minute?”
He looked at everyone but me.
“Hey Alice, it's good to see you. What's up?”
"Oh, honey, tell them more about our lovely evening," she urged.
He met my gaze squarely.
"I've already clarified everything, Rachel. I don't owe you any explanations."
"Sure thing, honey," she said softly.
Leaning in, she rested her hand on his chest.
"No need for explanations, darling. I just can't get what happened that night out of my head."
She whispered in his ear before glancing at me.
I couldn't bear to stay any longer. Pushing through the crowd, I stormed out.
“Excuse me.”
I left them and headed over to my brother.
“Lend me the Jeep, where are the keys?”
“On the table by the door, be careful. Callie, if you need help, call me or Anthony, we'll be there.”
I kissed him on the cheeks and smiled.
“Don't I always call you?”
I walked back into the house and up to my room. I got changed, grabbed my handbag, and left. The minute I stepped out the front door, I stopped; someone was standing there.
“God damnit, Anthony, you scared me.”
He walked over to me and pushed a few stray hairs away from my face. The simple touch had me leaning into his hands, and he just smiled at me.
“Hey babe, Where are you going?”
“Just out for a drive.”
“Please talk to me, okay?”
I noticed that Rachel was heading toward us.
I walked down the driveway, got into the Jeep, and headed into town. A nice drive was what I needed. I drove past the high school to dinner. I stopped and got a burger and a shake. This place has the best burgers. I got back into the Jeep and drove to my old hangout. It was an old bridge. There's always someone out here. I parked the Jeep and saw a couple other people that I knew. I waved at them and just sat there, eating. Jace and Anthony's party was never good. It always got rowdy.
Anthony
The party was going through in full swing. I've spent the last three hours trying to avoid Rachel, and it wasn't working. Jace was halfway to tipsy, and I saw him looking at me.
“What's going on, Anth?”
“What do you mean?”
"Anth, we're best friends. I've known you for a long time, and I know you don't ever refuse women. And the entire night, you're avoiding Rachel.”
"I think I'm starting to have feelings for someone."
"Whoa... You're joking, right? I can't believe you're saying this, man. So who's the lucky girl?"
"Uhh...She's..."
