Chapter 6 Works As His Secretary

It didn't take Seraphina three days to decide. The second day, she called Atticus and told him she had decided to move to Orchid Garden. She wanted to be Finnegan's woman.

She made the call only after Ophelia had gone to work.

Within an hour, Atticus arrived in the car with several bodyguards to pick her up.

"Ms. Kingsley, please get in," Atticus said with utmost respect. After all, Seraphina was the only woman who was allowed to move into Orchid Garden, and she might be Finnegan's wife someday.

Seraphina glanced at Atticus and the few bodyguards behind him, then at the limo. Her vanity was greatly gratified.

She had lived in poverty and been ridiculed for more than twenty years. For the first time in her life, she got to sit in a limo worth hundreds of thousands of dollars car and was treated with great respect.

She straightened her back and walked toward the limo.

Meanwhile, her neighbor came back from grocery shopping and called out, "Seraphina, are you moving? Is this your boyfriend?"

Driven by vanity, Seraphina replied haughtily, "He's just my boyfriend's assistant. I'm living with my boyfriend."

Hearing the words "my boyfriend", Atticus glanced at Seraphina. He was still puzzled as to why Finnegan would be interested in such a vain woman.

The neighbor said with envy, "It's such a fancy car. And your boyfriend has a personal assistant? Is he a CEO or what? You really hit the jackpot, Seraphina. You've managed to find such a rich boyfriend though you look so ordinary."

She had always been straightforward, blurting out whatever came to her mind.

Seraphina pulled a long face upon hearing her words. She said nothing, got into the car, and shut the door.

An hour later, the car slowly entered the affluent neighborhood, Orchid Garden.

Finnegan didn't live in the Abbott's Mansion, and the villa was his private residence. In the vast villa, a dozen servants attended to him alone.

The second Seraphina stepped into the villa, there was obvious excitement and greed on her face. The place was so big, and from now on, she would be the hostess.

A dozen servants lined up and greeted in unison, "Good day, Ms. Kingsley."

Seraphina was thrilled beyond words. Finally, she got to enjoy the treatment she had only seen on TV before.

"Ms. Kingsley, this way, please," Atticus led the way, saying. "Your room is on the second floor. You may choose any room on that floor. And the third floor belongs to Mr. Abbott alone, so you shouldn't go up there without his permission..."

As Atticus briefed her on the rules, she looked around greedily, her vulgarity on full display.

At Abbott's Corporation, Ophelia didn't know Seraphina had already moved out. She had just finished sorting out some files when Linda Holder, the secretary-general walked over. "Ophelia, take this file to Mr. Abbott's office."

The thought of meeting Finnegan made Ophelia terrified. "Linda, my stomach hurts..."

"Mr. Abbott won't bite you. What are you afraid of?" Linda saw through Ophelia and said sternly. "This is your job. Don't make any excuses. Go."

Linda was as decisive and efficient as Finnegan. She was his subordinate inside out.

In other companies, secretaries would vie for the CEO's attention, but such a thing would never happen at Abbott's Corporation, as any woman who had tried to seduce Finnegan was promptly fired.

Ophelia had no choice but to bite the bullet and go to the CEO's office with the file.

When she entered the office, Finnegan was on the phone. She bowed her head, planning to leave the file and go. However, Finnegan called out to her just as she was about to turn around.

"Make me a cup of coffee."

Finnegan didn't even glance at her. He went back to the phone after saying so.

The CEO's office was equipped with a coffee machine, a sofa, a computer, and all sorts of high-end office equipment.

Making coffee was a must for a competent secretary.

Ophelia went to the coffee machine to start brewing. The large office was quiet, as they were the only ones, which made Finnegan's voice especially clear.

His voice was mellow, deep, and magnetic, pleasing to the ear.

Unable to help herself, Ophelia sneaked a glance. Finnegan was dressed in blue trousers and a shirt, exuding an innate aura of authority. Despite being properly dressed, he was undeniably attractive. His broad shoulders and a lean waist were full of allure.

As she looked at him, the memory of their night together emerged in her mind.

This was the closest Ophelia had been to Finnegan. She thought, 'He's indeed handsome. If he gets into showbiz, he's gonna crush other idols.

'I can't believe I slept with such a perfect man. It's such a sin as well as a blessing. Whenever I think about it, I always wonder if it's just a dream,' she thought.

At some point, Finnegan had already walked to her as she was absent-minded. "Am I looking nice?"

She said instinctively, "Yeah."

The second she realized what she had said, she had only one thought in her mind.

She was doomed for sure!
