Chapter 7
She had already picked up her pencil and pointed towards the door, dismissing him.
The room was spacious, but the soundproofing was excellent. Silence prevailed when no one spoke, creating a somewhat oppressive tranquility.
This time, instead of leaving promptly, Jun Shang stared at her.
"What are you doing?" After a few seconds of confrontation, Yun Xiao furrowed her brows, questioning coldly.
Over the years, she had established an imposing presence, and no one dared to stare at her like this, making her feel uneasy.
"What do you want?" After a few more seconds of deadlock, she asked with a cold tone.
With a lingering gaze, Jun Shang finally spoke.
"You said I'm your private driver, so there's no need to follow Future Group's procedures..."
Before he could finish, Yun Xiao impatiently interrupted, "No need! The secretary will handle everything."
"Do I not need to follow the financial procedures for my salary then? Let me tell you directly. I didn't plan to stay, and I didn't bring much cash with me..."
Yun Xiao lightly frowned. Her previous suspicions were completely dispelled.
In simpler terms, it was just about money. Furthermore, judging from his lack of ambition, it seemed he didn't have any big plans.
She said coldly, "Get out! I will instruct the secretary to advance your salary."
"Alright!" Jun Shang's cheerful agreement brightened his mood. "Actually, I don't really need to get paid. It's just that your car will surely consume fuel, and I might need to cover tolls, fuel costs, and such..."
"Get out!" This time, Yun Xiao used her finger, pointing directly at the door.
Jun Shang nodded and didn't continue. "My phone number..."
"Yes!" Yun Xiao interrupted again.
Jun Shang shrugged and muttered quietly, "So unsociable, no wonder you can't get married..."
The voice was not loud, but in this quiet environment, Yun Xiao still heard it clearly. After he closed the door, she even broke the pencil in her hand.
She took a deep breath, without affecting her emotions, made a call to her secretary, giving some instructions. Then, hesitating for a moment, she dialed her father's number.
Since her father arranged it this way, even if she asked again, she wouldn't get a reasonable answer. She could only slowly understand it herself. She just informed him, letting him rest assured.
The secretary, Shi Ni, who had received Jun Shang earlier, was highly influenced by Yun Xiao's style and was very efficient. Without going through the usual procedures of the group's personnel administration, she quickly handled everything for Jun Shang.
Holding the car keys, Jun Shang, as instructed by Shi Ni, found Yun Xiao's parking space in the underground garage.
"What are you doing?"
As he approached the car, a security guard around thirty years old hurried over, sternly questioning, with his hand resting on the rubber baton at his waist.
"Don't be agitated. I'm the new private driver hired by CEO Ye." Jun Shang showed him the work card he had just obtained.
The security guard carefully compared and stared at him with a suspicious look.
"Check with your department leader, Secretary Shi should have informed them." Jun Shang smiled gently. Even if it was sucking up to a leader, taking care of the CEO's car was a good thing.
The security guard immediately used the intercom to contact the security department and, after confirmation, awkwardly apologized to Jun Shang before leaving. A driver might not be a big deal, but a driver for the CEO was a different story.
A driver's job required him to be available at the company's beck and call, but at this moment, Jun Shang simply drove out. The security guards at the parking lot exit had already received instructions and didn't check him specifically.
Driving the boss's luxury car for a leisurely ride during working hours could be considered quite pleasant.
Unfortunately, a driver was still just a driver. In less than an hour, Jun Shang received a call. Instead of the secretary calling to arrange work, it was Yun Xiao directly calling on her personal phone.
"Where are you?"
Listening to the stern words, Jun Shang casually smiled, "I'm at the company. Are you planning to go out, boss?"
"Come back! If you're not here in ten minutes... I'll deduct your salary!"
After saying this, Yun Xiao hung up the phone. She originally wanted to fire him for being late, but since it hadn't been half a day and her father couldn't explain things clearly, and considering his profit-seeking appearance, she decided to deduct his salary instead.
Jun Shang was a bit sweaty. Yun Xiao handled numerous affairs every day, and she wouldn't call the security department to check his and the car's whereabouts. Yet, she guessed that he wasn't in the company with just one phone call!
He wasn't really planning on being a driver for long, so he wasn't afraid of having his salary deducted for being late. However, on the first day like this, it would make Yun Xiao lose face in front of her subordinates, so he had to try to get back as soon as possible.
The car was a powerful luxury car, and Jun Shang's driving skills were impeccable. He could navigate through unfamiliar routes using map navigation, but he couldn't control traffic lights.
Rushing all the way to the nearest intersection of Future Tech, he was stopped by a red light. The red light was counting down, and the ten-minute countdown he set had less than a minute left!
He was calculating the time difference, estimating if he could return to the parking lot within a few tens of seconds after the green light. He didn't notice a car waiting at the red light, with someone in the back seat staring at him through the dark tinted windows.
As soon as the light turned green, Jun Shang drove straight through. The driver of the car next to him only realized when the light turned green, and before he could catch up, Jun Shang had already gone far away.
Jun Shang had just rushed back to the parking lot and saw two people standing in front of Yun Xiao's parking space.
"Ten minutes, just in time." Jun Shang smiled and showed Yun Xiao the countdown timer on his phone.
Yun Xiao, who didn't know how long she had been waiting, didn't look at his phone or say anything. She just walked past him.
The secretary, Shi Ni, who came with her, had already tacitly opened the car door a bit ahead and then got into the back seat from the other side.
"Drive immediately, go to the Sailing Center, we must arrive within thirty minutes!" After getting into the car, Shi Ni gave the address and then opened her laptop, showing something to Yun Xiao.
Shi Ni was a secretary, but often helped Yun Xiao with driving.
She didn't complain about it at all; instead, she felt honored. It wasn't exploitation but trust from the boss. Not anyone could drive for the boss, especially since Yun Xiao didn't have a designated driver. Today, a sudden private driver, who had an unclear relationship, made her feel a bit neglected.
However, she had earned Yun Xiao's trust, and she wouldn't show Jun Shang any displeasure until she figured out what was going on. Before understanding everything, she would not give Jun Shang a hard time and would instead quickly prove her value in other ways. Normally, when she drove, if Yun Xiao had any problems, she would directly ask her. Now, being able to assist the CEO directly, it might be another way to strengthen their relationship.
