Chapter 8

As Jun Shang drove the car out of the parking lot, he had already set the navigation to the Sailing Center and, by the way, searched on his phone to get a brief understanding.

The Sailing Center wasn't a company but a financial building in the CBD. The building's design was very artistic, and its positioning had an international flavor. Over the years, many foreign investment banks, funds, and other financial institutions had set up offices here.

He didn't know why Yun Xiao was going to the Sailing Center, but with her status as the CEO of Future Tech Group, if she personally rushed over, it must be an extremely important meeting.

Both Yun Xiao and the clients she was meeting had very precious time, and appointments were scheduled down to the minute.

Jun Shang could distinguish between the important and the trivial. If this was delayed, the consequences could be significant or insignificant.

However, according to the navigation, they had already made a reservation for half an hour. Based on the speed Jun Shang had just returned, he believed he could rush over in less than ten minutes. However, with Yun Xiao and Shi Ni in the back, both working on something on the computer, he had to play it safe.

Twenty minutes later, Jun Shang safely dropped the two of them off at the entrance of the Sailing Center.

Yun Xiao was still immersed in her thoughts and didn't pay attention to Jun Shang. Shi Ni quickly instructed him to wait in the parking lot. Once they finished their business, they would need to send President Yun back to the company immediately.

The meaning was simple. After the call, Jun Shang had to bring the car over from the parking lot during the time it took for them to walk from the elevator to the entrance, ensuring that Yun Xiao didn't have to wait at the door.

Jun Shang was confident he could do it. Of course, he wouldn't just sit in the car waiting. After parking the car, he lit a cigarette and strolled around the Sailing Center.

It must be said that the developer has great boldness. In this prime CBD area, they have left a large amount of green space around the building, making the entire Sailing Center look like a small park. From above, it appears aesthetically pleasing, and it's also a nice place to take a walk during breaks.

The layout of the greenery, along with sculptures, complements the central skyscraper, creating a combination of fashion and artistic and humanistic atmosphere.

Jun Shang didn't believe the developer was generously pursuing aesthetics; after all, there's no such thing as a free lunch. The considerable green space would undoubtedly be factored into the rent for the Sailing Center.

Nevertheless, those who can afford to rent offices here may not mind paying a little extra for a good environment.

After finishing a cigarette, he slowly turned around. Just as he was contemplating whether to take another stroll or sit down to rest, he suddenly realized something was amiss.

Silence!

The green space surrounding the Sailing Center was intended to create a quiet environment in a bustling location, but that was a different concept. Now he noticed that since he had parked, he hadn't seen anyone come out, no cars leaving, and no cars coming in.

No one came out just at the right time, and no one happened to be coming in?

With suspicion in mind, Jun Shang took out his phone, thinking of calling Yun Xiao or Shi Ni. However, considering the time, they should be in an important negotiation. Besides, what would he say if he called? Ask them why no one came out?

Coincidentally, no one came, and coincidentally, no one left?

With doubts, Jun Shang came to the entrance. The automatic doors opened, and there was not a single person inside.

Still silent! The atmosphere now seemed even more strangely eerie.

After a brief observation, he walked towards the elevator. At that moment, an elevator was coming down, which made him breathe a slight sigh of relief.

If someone was coming down in the elevator, it meant it was just a coincidence earlier. Perhaps he was overthinking it, and maybe there weren't as many people and companies around here as he had assumed.

As the elevator doors opened, a familiar smiling face appeared in front of him, and the person invited him to enter the elevator.

Jun Shang felt somewhat helpless; the "familiar" smiling face wasn't that of an acquaintance but was accompanied by a large-headed doll mask. The "invitation" was extended with a gun pointing at him to enter the elevator.

It seemed that the other party had seen him entering from the surveillance and sent someone down to control him.

This situation explained everything. The place was already under control, and people who entered were not allowed to leave. The security guard at the gate might also be one of their people, ensuring that no one could drive in using any method.

"Am I really unlucky? Why did I have to encounter something that doesn't happen even once a year?" Jun Shang sighed as the elevator ascended.

The masked thug, holding a gun, kept it pointed at Jun Shang as the elevator moved.

After a moment of silence, Jun Shang couldn't help but speak, "You're not afraid, very calm. Are you a veteran? A professional bodyguard? I hope you stay calm, don't do anything foolish, and won't harm your employer!"

From Jun Shang's reactions, the thug deduced some information and issued a rational warning.

In turn, Jun Shang also gleaned a lot from this conversation.

The thug spoke Mandarin, and it sounded quite standard, but there were awkward pauses in the words, sounding unnatural; possibly a foreigner. The warning indicated that they had reservations about him, not wanting to complicate matters, and they didn't want any unforeseen troubles caused by him. The last sentence implied that their actions were targeted, and while he didn't know the specific target, most people affected were likely accidental.

"I'm cooperating fully; how about I hand over my phone to you?" Jun Shang gestured towards his phone. Since he had considered calling them just now, he still had the phone in his hand. It wasn't a wise move to reach into his pocket when there was a gun pointed at him.

The thug, however, shook his head. At this moment, the elevator reached its floor.

Jun Shang glanced at the screen, and indeed, they had already blocked the satellite signal for the Sailing Center. There was no need to surrender the phone.

Jun Shang didn't step out of the elevator but chose to launch an attack the moment the elevator doors opened!

The thug, wearing a mask, remained vigilant, maintaining a safe distance. Coming out into a more spacious area would give them an advantage, and there might be other thugs providing support. The elevator turned out to be the best choice for an attack.

Unable to launch a surprise attack while they were unprepared and having to move faster than the gun, it was naturally a difficult task. In Jun Shang's mind, he had already simulated multiple attack scenarios, and at this moment, he chose a more certain one.

As the elevator door made a "ding" sound and opened, he stepped forward, swiftly turning around to hook his phone in an arc, smashing it toward the thug behind him.

This was just a deceptive move to distract the thug. Jun Shang quickly performed a backflip, pressed against the elevator's ceiling, slammed his knee into the thug's head, and simultaneously seized the gun-wielding hand. Just before the thug could pull the trigger, Jun Shang forcibly took the gun away.

The thug's head was first struck heavily by his legs, then slammed into the elevator, immediately losing consciousness. As Jun Shang descended, he casually caught the falling phone.

In other words, within the short time it took for the phone to be arced into the air and land, Jun Shang executed a passive counterattack and managed to eliminate the thug behind him!
