Chapter:2

Taylor's POV

I sigh as I plop my butt down on the couch in my apartment. "What's up?" I hear Kelsey say as she plops down next to me.

I shrug and lay my head on the back of the couch. "I'm exhausted." I say as I rub my eyes.

"You want some food. I cooked." She says getting up before I could even answer.

Kelsey has many questionable characteristics but her cooking is absolutely amazing. "Thank you." I say when she hands me the plate.

I dig in and enjoy the different flavors in my mouth. Once I finish, I get up and clean the kitchen before going to my room and stripping off my clothes.

I wrap a towel around my body before walking to the bathroom. I take a quick shower due to the hot water not lasting long. Blowing my hair out, I throw it up into a bun before applying lotion to my body and leaving the foggy bathroom.

I get dressed in pajama shorts and an oversized shirt. Kelsey is playing around with her guitar when I get to the living room with my laptop.

Might as well start job hunting while it's early. Our building may be all kinds of crappy but at least the wifi is good.

"What are you doing?" Kelsey asks and I don't look at her as I respond. "Job hunting." I say and she hums.

"But you already have one." She says and I snort. "Not for long if your friend from last night decides to hold a grudge about how I treated him this morning." I say and set her guitar down.

"What do you mean you won't have a job." She says and I stop typing to look at her. "Your boy toy is going to be my new boss. He bought Mr. Stevenson's company today."

"But you were gone when we came out of my room." She says and I furrow my brows.

"What? He was sitting on the couch in a suit. By the way, good job. He's an upgrade from the bums you always bring around." I say and she rolls her eyes.

"That wasn't who I was with. That was his friend. He was meeting him here because they had some sort of business meeting to get to." She says and I close my eyes.

"Is his name Dimitri? The guy you were with." I ask and she giggles shaking her head 'No'.

"Dimitri is Chris' friend. The one in the suit. He came to pick him up this morning." She says and my mouth forms an 'O'.

"Wait. I called him your boy toy when I got in this morning." I say as it dawns on me. Kelsey laughs and I put my face in my hands and groan. "Oh my goodness." I groan and she keeps laughing.

"It's not that bad. He seems cool enough to let it slide." She says and I give her a deadpan face.

"Yeah. As cool as that stick up his butt." I say and she giggles. "What a way to introduce yourself to the boss." She says and I chuckle.

"Now I really need to look for another job. I embarrassed myself by being rude and half-naked in front of him. Isn't that great?" I say and she puts her hand on my shoulder.

"Hey. He can't fire you for something as small as you being rude to him. You didn't know who he was and knowing you, you probably weren't even rude." She says and I smile.

"You're probably right." I say as I start scrolling through the application forms on my screen.

She helps me look for suitable jobs that my qualifications meet and we talk a little about life and stuff. She's actually a really good listener and very interesting.

The girl just screams YOLO.

Her phone rings and she smiles at the caller ID. "Hey, Chris. Yeah." She says and keeps quiet before looking over to me.

"Yeah. She'll totally agree." She says and I narrow my eyes at her. "Okay cool. An hour." She says before hanging up the phone.

"That was Chris. He wants us to go out with him and his friend. The new boss guy." She says and my eyes widen. "Nooooo. No. I can't do that." I say shaking my head.

"What do you mean no? It's going to be fun. Pwease?" She says giving me puppy dog eyes. "I can't Kelsey. He's my new boss." I say softly as if it was the biggest secret.

"Why are you whispering?" She asks raising her eyebrows and I sit up straight. "I'm not going." I say picking my laptop up and walking to my room. "Come on, Taylor. It'll be fun, I promise. Let's make a deal, if you don't like the vibe, we leave." She says and I bite my lip contemplating.

This will give me a chance to apologize and I'll actually know what having a social life means. Sad, I know.

"I can leave you to come home early when I get tired? I have work tomorrow." I say and she nods making me sigh loudly.

"Okay. Let me get changed." I say and she squeals, jumping up and down like a little kid. "I'll get you something to wear." She says before rushing to her room. I shake my head before entering mine and getting a towel.

What am I doing? I can't possibly 'hang out' with my new boss. That is unprofessional and weird. I mean, he isn't bad-looking, heck the man looks like God took his time crafting every curve and smooth plane on his face. Lips. Those lips, oh my goodness. Red and plump, looking so kissable.

I feel my body heat up at the thought of what his mouth can do and I stop myself from thinking any further.

Gosh, I haven't been touched in so long that I'm so easily excited by thoughts of a man that I know nothing about. A man who is my superior in the workplace.

"I should really find a new job." I mumble to myself and walk into Kelsey's room with a towel wrapped around my body. I lean on the door frame watching her rummage through articles of clothes hanging in her closet.

"Gotcha." She whispers before turning around and jumping in fright. "Jesus, you scared me." She says putting a hand over her chest. I giggle before saying a quick sorry.

"Here are two dresses. These are the only ones that cover a little more but we can keep looking if you want." She says and I nod my head.

Both dresses are a deep red, almost maroon color. The one is a thin strapped, thigh-high dress with lace covering all of it. The breast part doesn't look like it covers much but it looks cute and overall looks comfortable.

The other one is a long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder, thigh-high dress with a small slit in the middle of my chest just under my boobs. It's a diamond shape and gives the dress a little heat. This one looks amazing because it has a little more coverage.

Both the dresses look like they're gonna be skin-tight and that is a concern because I have slightly more curves than Kelsey. She's tall and slim and I'm short and curvy in the hips department.

"I'll take the lace one." I say and she looks at me, shocked. "What? You gotta live a little right." I say before leaving the room with the dress in my hand.

I quickly get changed before combing my hair out and straightening it with the flap iron. It is now pin-straight and I just part it in the middle before swooping both sides behind my ear and holding it in place with some hair pins.

I look good.

I smile at my appearance before I see Kelsey by the door. "Damn, ma. You look sexy." She says and I blush. "Thank you."

"Makeup time." She says holding her box up. I shake my head. "I don't wear heavy makeup. Most of it makes my skin turn red." I tell her remembering the countless times in high school where I would put makeup on just to see the red spots once I wash it off.

"Oh. Okay. Just eyebrows, eyeliner and lip gloss?" She asks and I nod.

I sit down on my bed and she starts on my face. It takes us ten minutes to finish and I step in front of the mirror. "Oh wow." I say as I see my reflection. It's amazing what this little makeup can actually do.

The wing on my eyelid makes my eyes look amazing along with the light lashes she put on me. My eyebrows look a bit neater from her plucking them. My lips. They are shining from the lip gloss.

"You look beautiful." Kelsey says and I look at her in the mirror. "Thank you." I say and she smiles.

"Okay. Now that we're done, I'm gonna go call Chris." She says and I nod.

I walk over to my shoes before picking out my black open-toed platform heels. I love these because they are comfortable and don't make me think that I'm going to faceplant into the ground.

I zip them up and they go surprisingly well with my look. It gives the look a little edge.

I put on some gold dangling earrings and studs on the rest of the holes before walking out. Kelsey hands me a little sling purse and I put my phone, ID, more lipgloss and pepper spray in there before placing it across my body.

"They're here." She says and I can feel my nerves spiking. My heart beats faster in nervousness and my palms are sweating.

We walk out of our apartment, locking it before going down the stairs and out of the building. The cool air touches my bare arms and I take a deep breath.

There is a black Escalade parked in front of our building and the dark guy from earlier gets out. He smiles at Kelsey before pulling her into a passionate make-out. "Hey." She says smiling at him. "Hey."

He turns to me before chuckling. "I know you. You were at the meeting today." He says and I nod my head smiling.

"I'm Chris." He says stretching his hand out. I take it and shake it. "Taylor." I say softly and he nods to the car.

"Shall we?" He says before opening the back door for us. I get in first and Kelsey follows. There is another man in the front seat and my heart starts racing at the fact that I know who it is.

The guy turns around and my heart stops beating for a second. "Hi. I'm Keath." He says smiling at us. I give him a closed-mouth smile and Kelsey says 'hi'.

"I'm Kelsey. This is Taylor." She introduces and he nods. "It's nice to meet you guys. You both look beautiful." He says and I smile a bit wider. "Thank you." I say and he grins.

"She speaks." He jokes and I smile shaking my head.

They keep talking as I wonder why Chris' friend, Dimitri, isn't with us.

I tap Kelsey's thigh and she looks over at me. "Where's the other guy?" I ask and shrugs. "I didn't know that he wasn't gonna come. Sorry." She says looking genuinely regretful.

"It's okay. I was just wondering." I say and she nods.

The car is turned into a fancy neighbourhood and my eyes scan all the houses.

"I thought we were going out." I say softly and Chris turns slightly. "We're having a little get-together at Keath's house. We are celebrating my friend, Dimitri's new buy." Chris explains.

"Oh. What is it that you do?" I ask and he smiles. "I'm a lawyer. Keath owns clubs all around the city." He says and I nod. Impressive.

"That's good." I say and he smiles. "What do you do, Taylor?" He asks and I clear my throat.

"I work for-or used to work for Stevenson's Construction." I say and Kelsey smirks. "Really. That's the company we closed the deal on today. It's why we're celebrating." He says and I nod.

"Really?" I say acting all surprised. "Yeah. You do look familiar. Did I see you at the meeting today?" He asks and I hum. "Yeah. I got your friend coffee." I tell him and he chuckles.

"The world works in mysterious ways. This is great." He says and I nod. "Yes it does. Wouldn't it be unprofessional to party with my boss though?" I ask and both Chris and Keath laugh.

"He was our boss too. We partied all the time. How do you think we got this close." Keath says and I force a chuckle.

They probably didn't have the same first encounter with him that I had.

"We're here." Chris announces and I look up. The huge gate opens and we drive up the most beautiful driveway that I've ever seen. At the end of it is a huge double story house.

"Sick place." Kelsey says and Keath smiles back at us. "Thanks."

They get out and open the doors for us. Keath grabs my hand, helping me out of the car.

I thank him softly and he nods.

"Right this way ladies."
