Chapter 2
Daisy was Kayla's elder sister, she was married to a man named Coman, and he didn't like Daisy.
He always acted as though her presence disgusted him, she married him five years ago when she got pregnant with him after one night together, they didn't want criticism from their both families so they got married.
She lost the child she had for him but he never acted like he cared that was how much he hated her.
He always claimed that Daisy was a witch and she had no better choice than to tie him down with a pregnancy.
He always said he loved someone else, someone he claimed to be his childhood lover.
And maybe he was secretly seeing her.
He was fed up with seeing Daisy's face so he wanted a divorce so she could be out of his life forever.
That morning when he went to get the papers he asked her to pack her things before he returned.
Daisy had already packed her things in her room and was waiting for him to return when she heard her phone ring from the living room. She decided to run down to get it.
She was talking with her sister Kayla when her husband came in and asked why she wasn't ready yet.
She had to pause the call to avoid problems.
All she could remember doing in that marriage with Coman was begging him to love her.
"I have already packed my bags, I was just answering my……"
"Don't give me that bullshit," he cuts her "What does that have to do with me? Bring down your stuff I've ordered an Uber you're leaving my house this minute,"
She shook out of fear, she rushed to her room to get her things he gave her an envelope and she left.
She entered the Uber and immediately tears fell down her eyes without her realizing.
"Ma'am, are you alright?" The Uber driver asked, looking at the rear mirror.
"Oh, yeah, I'm fine," Daisy quickly cleaned her tears and forced a smile.
She was still grieving her Mom and Coman doesn't even give a fuck about her feelings, that was how he behaved when she lost her four-year-old son, " why do I even expect him to behave differently?" She scoffed.
He never cared about her. How could someone hate a woman who has never harmed him before this much? All because you love some other woman from your childhood days, he never mentioned her when they met, and all of a sudden she just emerged out of the blue.
She felt a sharp pain in her heart.
Her phone rang and she looked at it, it was her sister and she picked it up.
"Big sis, are you alright?"
"Yeah, I am, what were you saying earlier?"
"It's about Dad, I don't know what to say, just come to the hospital"
"Alright I'm coming to the hospital, is it the one I know?"
"Yeah"
Kayla's phone started ringing. She pulled it out of her pocket to see who it was, it was her boyfriend, Tristan.
She picked it up immediately.
"Hey, Tristan I'm happy you called already, there's so much going on with me and I need a shoulder to lean on…."
"Can you let me talk please, I called to know where you are" Tristan interrupts her sentence.
"I'm at the hospital"
"I'm coming there to meet you now"
Tristan drops the call, Kayla stares at her phone wondering why he sounded like that.
She breathes in and out, she turns to the room where her father is being treated and her heart begins pounding.
What if the doctor comes out and says Dad is Dead?
She went deep into thinking.
Suddenly someone sits close to her, she turns to see who it is, it's Tristan.
Because of the way he sounded on the phone, she was afraid of starting the conversation.
"I didn't come here to waste my time, I just want to tell you a few things"
Kayla couldn't say anything, she just nodded. She didn't know what it was he wanted to say.
"You know I'm from a rich family, I can't afford to bring myself low or bring shame to my family, so it would be good that everyone knew their levels"
"I don't understand, what are you saying, Tristan?"
"What I'm saying is that I can't marry you because we are not of the same class anymore since your mom died everyone knows your Dad is a commoner, I can't marry a commoner's daughter, I'm royalty,"
"Is this what this is about?" Tears were already rolling down Kayla's eyes.
"It's about everything thing and if I don't break up with you now my mother will not forgive me for defiling her house, so I'd appreciate it if you return my engagement ring,"
His words landed on Kayla like cuts of knives she couldn't believe her ears she was shocked, she didn't believe her ears, if there was someone who should tell her this it shouldn't be Tristan after all the sacrifice and help she gave him he threw everything away like it meant nothing.
She stood in for him many times and gifted him more than the way he gifted her, she thought they loved each other equally.
She looked at him in the eyes for seconds and there was no sign of remorse or feelings, he meant everything he just said.
Out of anger she pulled out the ring from her finger and gave it to him.
"Thank you," he said, shoving the ring into his pocket, he got up and left.
At this point Kayla felt like the world was against her, her tears were meaningless because no one cared.
This was a time when she needed Tristan the most after all she did for him.
She gets up to look through the window and see if she can spot Tristan. She saw him enter a car, his driver was waiting for him.
Her heart was broken into a thousand pieces.
She turned and saw the doctor walking in and out of the emergency room, that minute she felt her heart sink.
"I hope Dad is alright?"
