Chapter 1
MADDIE
My friends throw me a late bachelorette party for me tonight despite my wedding happening tomorrow. They've been so busy with things that they couldn't do it for me sooner. I told them it's fine, but they insist. I felt bad saying no to them, especially when they really took some time to organize the party.
However, I suffered a terrible migraine this afternoon, so I decided to ditch my party. I called them to inform them that I'm not feeling well and I wanted to have a good night sleep before my wedding. They completely understand it and say it fine. After I made the call, I went home to take some rest. I didn't even manage to wash up and change my clothes. I let my body fall on the bed and went to sleep.
When I opened my eyes, I noticed it's already dark outside. Thank God the medicine I took worked fast. I took a glance at the clock and noticed it's just ten in the evening. Maybe I can still make it to my party and show up even just for an hour. I feel bad for ditching the party they prepared for me, so I decided to show up.
I dialled Lizzie's number to inform her of my plan. I frowned when she didn't answer my call. Assuming she was already at the party, I tried to call my other friend to ask her.
After a few calls, Diane answered. "Hey, Maddie! What's up?" she greeted.
"Hey, Diane! Where are you?" I asked.
"At your party, duh! Do you realize how stupid it sounds to have a bachelorette party without the bride-to-be?" she complained.
I chuckled, "I know. I'm sorry. I had a terrible migraine this afternoon. But good news, I think I'd be able to make it," I informed her.
"OMG! That's great! It's a good thing we still decided to push through with this party without you," she said excitedly.
"Thank you for preparing this for me," I said.
"It's Lizzie who managed to pull off everything," she replied.
Lizzie is my best friend who was like a sister to me. "Speaking of Lizzie, is she there? I've been trying to call her."
"I haven't seen her since this morning. Maybe she's on her way here since I haven't told her that you aren't coming, which is a good thing since you're coming anyway," she said.
"Oh, that's odd," I commented.
"Don't worry, she'll be here. You should go and get ready. I'll see you soon. Love ya!" Diane said before she bids goodbye.
Once the call ended, I went to my closet to pick out clothes that I'd be wearing for tonight's party. As I was trying to decide what to wear to my bachelorette party, I heard an unusual noise coming from the door. I wasn't expecting any visitors in my pad tonight. So, I wonder who it might be.
I suddenly get an idea that it might be Wyatt, my fiancé. We're not supposed to meet tonight since they said it's bad luck. But he probably heard about me not feeling well so he decided to pay me a visit. He's so sweet.
I wanted to surprise him as well, so I hid inside the closet and waited for him to get inside my room. My heart was pounding in excitement when I heard my front door open.
"Lizzie, what were you thinking. Are you out of your mind?" I heard Wyatt voice outside my room. I frowned when I heard him saying Lizzie's name.
"Oh, come on, Wyatt. This will be our last night together. This is the least you could do for me." My heart started racing when I heard Lizzie's voice.
What are they talking about? Are they here to check up on me? I'm not surprise that they were together because they've been so close even since. They probably worried about me, that's why they came.
I was about to get out of the closet to greet them when they suddenly walked into my room. I was dumbfounded upon seeing them upon seeing them so close together. Their hands were all over their body.
Wyatt chuckled, "You're crazy. What if Maddie came?" he commented in between their kisses.
I covered my mouth to stop myself from making any more sound. I don't know why I choose to stay silent. I have every right to be mad at them, to shout at them. But at that moment, I was completely frozen. I couldn't move my body that I had no choice but to watch the two of them lay on my bed as they slowly strip of each other's clothes.
"She won't be back for at least an hour, or maybe up until midnight. I organized a bacholerette party for her so I can have you all for myself tonight," Lizzie answered.
I can't believe what's happening. My fiancé and my best friend are cheating on me on the night before my wedding. How long has this been happening? Have I've been that blind to not see what they're doing behind my back?
"You're such a naughty, naughty girl. You know we can still see each other even after Maddie and I get married," Wyatt, which completely took me by surprise.
"I don't want to be your mistress," Lizzie answered, pouting her lips and trying to look cute.
"Only for a year, honey. You heard what my father said, I can only get the position in our company after I get married."
"Then, why don't you just marry me?"
"My family loved Maddie. Do you really think they will still give me the CEO position after they find out that I cheated on Maddie and that I'm going to marry her best friend? Think, Lizzie. We have to think this through carefully."
"You're their family, not Maddie. I'm sure they'll understand," Lizzie insisted.
"You have no idea how Maddie manipulated my family. They wouldn't bat an eye and take her side the moment I call off the wedding. So, please, just bear with me for a little more, sweetheart," Wyatt assured him.
It disgusts me how he uses the same endearment on Lizzie. I never manipulated his family. All I did was show them genuine kindness, and they love me for that. I have no idea that Wyatt thought I had been manipulating his family.
I'm not sure why am I staying hidden when I have all the right to show myself and confront them. Instead, I let myself suffer from watching the two people I love the most betrayed me on my bed. The truth is, I was scared to confront them. I don't think I'm ready to hear the truth. I fished out my phone in my pocket and started recording their betrayal. I may not be able to confront them now, but I need to have some proof the moment I reveal the truth to everyone.
I stayed hidden inside the closet until they left. I'm not sure how long I stayed in there until I finally had the courage to come out. As soon as I stepped out of the closet, my heart was full of rage. All I wanted was to get revenge. I will not let them get away with this.
