4. Aneska's Secret
“Why do you have that? Julie's maid took something she shouldn't, especially equipment like that," said David as soon as Aneska had finished bandaging Edwin's wound.
"That's me…." Aneska didn't know what to say or how.
“You shouldn't have brought that thing,” David stressed.
Aneska looked at the man.
"But, without this, I won't be able to stop the bleeding of Young Master's wound," said Aneska.
"Who are you?" David asked, it seemed like the man couldn't trust Aneska. His gaze was cold, and his expression was always the same, suspicious and full of questions.
"I -"
How does Aneska explain it? The girl became embarrassed,- and looked at David, and Edwin alternately, looking for the courage to explain who she was.
"I -"
"I also want to know," said Edwin, still in a weak voice.
Aneska's gaze was completely focused on Edwin. What should Aneska explain?
“Yeah, okay, I'll be honest with you. However, I have one condition, do not take my medical equipment. If something like this happens again, I can freely use it without having to ask –"
"Just tell me who you are!" David exclaimed impatiently.
Aneska was shocked to hear David's exclamation.
"Oh, okay," said Aneska, but this time the girl dared to look at David sharply. “I am a surgeon. Satisfied?" Aneska rolled her eyes at David and emphasized her answer.
"Surgeon? How? We didn't get any report that it was a doctor who came. What we know is that the girl is still at school," said David.
Aneska's mouth dropped open when she heard David's explanation, who became increasingly disbelieving and even cornered Aneska.
Exhale roughly. The man's way of speaking, sharp gaze, and attitude made Aneska angry too.
“Should I explain my reason for being here to a bodyguard who should only be doing your job, instead of knowing who I am?” Aneska answered sharply.
David was undeterred, still looking at the girl sharply.
“Tsk!” Aneska chuckled irritably at the man's gaze.
Edwin's muffled moans attracted David's attention from Aneska. The man took two steps closer to his young master. But Edwin raised his hand, stopping David. Aneska pulled the corners of her lips into a mocking smile.
"Enough. I want to rest. You can go, David. I'll talk about this tomorrow," said Edwin, panting.
“But Young Master -”
"Enough. It seems impossible for this girl to escape. You, guard this place in case this girl escapes. I will talk to her tomorrow," explained Edwin.
David was silent.
"And don't tell anyone," continued Edwin.
Unable to refuse the young master's orders, David finally obeyed Edwin and bowed for a moment. Aneska stuck out her tongue a little, mocking the man even more. But this time David didn't answer,- and chose to leave there after Edwin told him to.
Aneska breathed a sigh of relief as soon as David left Edwin's workplace. The medical equipment that Aneska kept behind the cover of the book was safe, but it looked like it could be taken away at any time.
“I won't let it!” In her heart, Aneska vowed that she would defend her beloved medical device.
The girl turned her head when Edwin moved slowly.
“You, can you move aside?” said the man in a cold tone.
Aneska complied, got up from sitting, took a step back, and let Edwin put his feet off the sofa.
"You need help?" Aneska offered.
However, Edwin glanced at Aneska sharply.
“That doesn't mean you can do whatever you like. You go too. Leave me alone,” the man said sharply.
Aneska was of course offended. He was helped, but kicked him out instead of thanking him. But the girl didn't say anything else but did what the man said and took all the equipment, even cleaning the table that had traces of the man's blood on it.
Edwin himself leaned his back and head on the sofa. One hand is on the stomach, the other hand at the side of the body. His eyes were closed.
After cleaning everything, Aneska looked at Edwin and decided to clean up the remaining blood on the floor first before leaving the room. Besides, didn't Edwin say that other people wouldn't know about the wound, so Aneska only took the initiative to clean it because Edwin's condition didn't allow it.
"Hopefully it's okay," muttered the girl after everything was finished, and was about to leave Edwin, who still didn't move where he was.
Taking a deep breath, Aneska closed the bedroom door and went downstairs to throw out the trash.
Walking towards the kitchen, Aneska looked at the dining table where there was still food left. Now that she saw the red liquid, Edwin's blood made the girl not interested in drinking it. Once again the girl sighed,- and chose to clear the dining table and throw away the rest.
"But, I have no appetite now, after seeing what happened," said Aneska as she threw the food into the trash.
In the kitchen, there is a special trash can. Used food, plastic, bottles, organic waste, and so on. Aneska washed the plates used from eating and washed her hands which still had Edwin's blood on them.
“Tsk! It sucks. I've treated him, but don't know how to thank you," said the girl, talking to herself. “But, is he okay? A wound that big would cause side effects,- and fever. I should give him painkillers, right?” Aneska thought as she turned off the water tap and wiped her hands.
After ensuring that the kitchen is not messy, and is neat as before. Aneska decided to go to her room, trying not to care about Edwin's condition. After all, the man himself had thrown her out, so Aneska had no right to worry, right?
"Argh!" The girl let out a muffled scream as she turned around. Just reflexively put his hand on his chest, and back off until he hit the sink table.
The figure stood in the darkness, with sharp eyes, and a cold expression.
"You surprised me, sir," said Aneska sarcastically.
But David didn't care at all,- and walked towards the trash can. Aneska watched what the man was doing, and the girl's brow furrowed in surprise as to why David was picking up the trash that Aneska had thrown away.
“Why did you take that?” Aneska asked curiously.
"None of your business," David answered briefly, then just looked away.
He did not accept David's attitude towards him. Aneska followed the man's footsteps out the back door and arrived in the yard. David threw the trash into a trash can that had a fire in it. The man set it on fire.
“Why did you burn it?” Aneska didn't understand.
But David didn't say anything and just watched the burning indifferently.
The night wind blew quite slowly but it still felt cold through the clothes Aneska was wearing. The girl looked up at the moonless starry sky.
"Beautiful," said the girl quietly with a faint smile on her lips.
The girl's gaze was so fixed as if it was her first time seeing the stars scattered in the silent night sky. Aneska didn't know where she was standing, but David watched silently. The man's gaze was hard to decipher.
The girl came to the place on orders. Aneska is indeed a doctor and studied medicine, but she is not very skilled because everything the girl learned about health was kept secret from her adoptive family. Aneska doesn't know why they forbade her from studying medicine,- and forced her to study business. But fortunately, Aneska didn't run out of ideas. From undergraduate to sophomore, the girl studied medicine in secret. There are also advantages to going to another country on a scholarship,- and living far away from host parents.
Now that the girl has returned after completing her studies, unfortunately, Aneska has to face something unexpected. Reality won't be the same as expectations, right? This is where Aneska is, a strange place to marry a young master because it is used as collateral. What will be the future fate of Aneska's life?
Bruk!
A soft but clear thud made the girl turn to David, who noticed it too. They both ran into the house to find out what the sound was.
