Chapter 4 Wrong Kid

Griffin stared at Darian for a while before it finally clicked.

He knew this man! He had seen him on the news before. He was with a woman, and they were announcing their engagement.

At that time, Cecily saw it too, and she looked somewhat sad.

Who was the man who could make Cecily sad? Out of curiosity, Griffin looked him up and found out that he was actually Cecily's ex-husband, his long-lost dad!

To learn more about his dad, Griffin went to Blaise and found out how this scumbag treated Cecily before.

"Rowan! Cat got your tongue?" Darian asked coldly as Griffin remained silent, but he didn't blame Griffin for the punch.

Griffin stared at him with wide eyes and thought, 'Rowan? Was he talking to me? He obviously knows me. What's going on?'

Clever as Griffin, he quickly pieced things together when he remembered the little boy who looked just like him earlier.

Cecily had mentioned that he had an elder brother who didn't survive.

But someone who looked exactly like him could only be a twin, meaning the boy in the car with Cecily was his brother!

If his brother was alive, then why would Cecily lie to him? It looked like his bad dad mistook him for his brother. Then, his brother must have been with his bad dad all these years.

In the meantime, Cecily mistook his brother for him.

Griffin quickly sorted it all out.

Seeing Griffin staring at him and remaining silent, Darian gradually lost his patience.

Griffin thought, 'Since they mistook us, and my brother is with Mom, I might as well make use of this situation and stay with Dad. Then, I can not only cover for my brother but also know more about my bad dad.'

Thinking of this, Griffin lunged forward and hugged Darian's thigh. "Dad, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have punched you!"

Darian was a bit puzzled to see Griffin hugging his leg. His son was always distant and quiet. What happened now?

Griffin twisted around, still holding his leg. "I didn't mean to. I mistook you for a bad person. Please don't be mad."

Darian squinted his eyes, carefully studying Griffin's face for a few seconds. He tried to detect anything unusual but failed.

"Get up."

Griffin sneakily glanced at Darian and quickly stood up when he sensed no signs of anger.

Darian still felt something was off. Rowan was wearing different clothes.

"Did that woman change your clothes?"

Griffin nodded twice. "I accidentally got my clothes dirty, so M... She changed them for me and then took me away."

Darian didn't suspect further. "Come back with me. Don't do this again."

Griffin nodded, pretending to be an obedient kid.

"Call those people back," Darian instructed Larkin.

"Yes."

Darian was about to take Griffin to the car when suddenly a car stopped nearby, and a woman got out. She was wearing an elegant dress and carrying a small bag. Her curly hair was chestnut, and her delicate face was carrying a faint smile. In general, she was gentle and charming.

"Darian," she called out to Darian softly.

The coldness on Darian's face faded a bit when he saw Ophelia. "What brings you here?"

"Your mom told me that you were seeing a doctor in Dorde. I was worried about you, so I came over." Ophelia held Darian's arm as if they had been an old couple and observed his expression as she asked, "Darian, you won't blame me for coming over without telling you, right?"

Darian replied calmly, "No. But let me know next time so that I can send someone to pick you up."

Ophelia smiled, revealing dimples on her cheeks, looking sweet and charming. "I know you care about me, but I wanted to give you a surprise. So, any luck? Can the doctors here help?"

Talking about the doctor, Darian darkened his face slightly.

He had severe sleep disorders and had seen many doctors, but the treatments were ineffective.

He heard there was a highly skilled doctor here who might be able to help him, so he came all the way from Silver Frost Capital to Dorde, only to be told that she couldn't help.

Was it that she couldn't help or didn't want to?

Darian felt something was weird.

That doctor resembled an old friend who had passed away.

The more Darian thought about it, the more suspicious he became. Glancing at Larkin beside him, he sternly ordered, "Go to the dean and get the identity information of that doctor."

Larkin immediately nodded. "Yes, I'm on it."

Seeing Darian's grim expression and his sudden interest in a doctor, Ophelia asked with concern, "What's wrong, Darian?"

Darian didn't want to explain much. "Nothing."

Ophelia furrowed her brows, finding it strange. However, since he only wanted to investigate a doctor, she didn't dwell on it. Then, she saw Griffin.

Immediately, she couldn't help but show a hint of disgust in her eyes. She thought, 'When can this annoying kid disappear? I was so close just now, but a bitch ruined my plan!'

Ophelia rolled her eyes unintentionally, but she quickly composed herself, her face adorned with a gentle smile. "Little Rowan."

Griffin avoided her outstretched hand without hesitation.

Ophelia's smile froze, her hand hanging in the air.

Griffin frowned and thought, 'Isn't she the woman who was supposed to be engaged to my bad dad? She doesn't seem nice. The way she looks at me clearly shows that she hates me, but she pretends to like me.'

Feeling wronged, Ophelia turned to look at Darian.

Ophelia had never gotten along with Rowan, and Darian knew that. Seeing how Rowan treated Ophelia, Darian wasn't surprised but just calmly said, "Let's go back."

Ophelia pursed her lips, biting back her anger.

That dead bitch left a child for her to deal with!

If she hadn't been prepared five years ago, Darian would have found out that Rowan was he and Cecily's biological son. Then, Darian would have surely reinvestigated what happened five years ago, and she would have been finished.

Ophelia clenched her fists tightly. It was too dangerous to keep Rowan around Darian. She had to figure out a way to get rid of Rowan!

Handing her car keys to the bodyguard, Ophelia said, "You drive my car back. I want to ride with Darian."

Darian got into the car. Ophelia was about to sit in the passenger seat when a small figure swiftly ran past her and sat down.

Ophelia frowned, watching her seat being taken over. She pursed her lips and said, "Little Rowan, I'm feeling a bit unwell. I'm short of breath and have motion sickness. Can you let me sit in the passenger seat?"

After saying this, Ophelia looked pitifully at Darian.

Griffin glanced at her. "You're so fragile. Don't ride with us. What if you die in our car?"

Ophelia froze.

Darian furrowed his brows, his gaze becoming more serious. He scolded, "Rowan! Mind your words!"

"I'm just telling the truth! If she's unwell, then she should go to the hospital! Sitting in your passenger seat won't cure her! She's just pretending!"

Griffin was not a pushover. Since Ophelia rolled her eyes at him, he was determined to strike back.

"Get out," Darian said sternly.
