Chapter 14 Parents Strategy Plan
Alaric froze for a moment, taken aback by Harry's request. This kid was more perceptive than he had realized.
He looked at his son's eager face, and his heart ached.
His son genuinely disliked Orion, even to the point of loathing.
However, granting his son's request was beyond his reach, at least for the time being."Caspian, I need to think about this, okay?" Alaric's voice was hoarse as he avoided Harry's gaze, unable to meet those hopeful eyes.
The light in Harry's eyes dimmed instantly, like a bucket of cold water had been poured over him. He lowered his head and whispered, "I understand."
His voice was filled with obvious disappointment and sadness.
Seeing his son's dejected expression made Alaric feel even worse, like a heavy stone was pressing down on his chest, making it hard to breathe.
He knew he was being cruel. Refusing a child's request, especially such a small one, was something he shouldn't do. But for now, he had no choice.
Harry sat silently on the bed, head down, his long eyelashes hiding the emotions in his eyes, making it hard to tell what he was thinking.
But he was already plotting. It seemed he couldn't rely on himself alone; he needed to discuss things with the real Caspian and come up with a long-term plan.
He had to get Dad and Mom together as soon as possible! That was the most important thing right now!
Meanwhile, the real Caspian noticed that Galatea hadn't been to the hospital for several days.
He felt uneasy, sensing that something was about to happen. He was worried that Galatea might have lost her job due to pressure from Alaric or encountered some trouble.
Caspian decided to find out.
Caspian picked up the watch Elisa had given him from the nightstand and dialed Harry's number.
The phone rang a few times before it was answered, and Harry's excited voice came through, "What, finally believe I'm real? Calling me so soon?"
"It's me, Caspian Knight," Caspian said directly, not in the mood for small talk.
"I knew it was you!" Harry chuckled, lowering his voice with excitement and pride, "I figured it out. Our identities have swapped! I'm Caspian Knight, and you're Harry Storm! Do you think we're twins or something? How else could we look so alike?"
Caspian paused, then realized he had suspected this possibility for a while, but hadn't expected it to be confirmed so quickly.
"That woman Orion, you've met her, right? She's not our mom. She's a fake!" Harry continued, his voice filled with anger and disgust, "She's got an agenda! She's definitely up to something!"
Caspian was silent for a moment before asking, "Are you safe at the Knight Mansion? Will Orion do anything to you?"
"Don't worry; I'm fine."
Harry said confidently, "I'm a cryptography prodigy. This is nothing. Plus, I can analyze micro-expressions. Orion can't hide anything from me! She can't pull any tricks in front of me!"
"But now's not the time to talk about that," Harry's voice suddenly turned serious, "We need to figure out how to get your dad and my mom together. That's the priority!"
Caspian frowned. Although he wanted his parents to be together, he thought Harry's idea was a bit rash.
Harry asked, "Do you like Galatea?"
"Of course."
"I really like your dad too. If they were together, he'd definitely protect Mom. Caspian, let's work together!" Harry's words were surprising, filled with excitement and anticipation.
"What do you have in mind?" Caspian was taken aback by the sudden request for cooperation.
"We need to make sure Dad and Mom sleep together!" Harry's voice was mischievous, like a little devil plotting a grand scheme.
Caspian was shocked by Harry's bold idea, almost dropping the watch.
Harry's idea was certainly forward-thinking! But it seemed like it might actually work.
"We'll discuss the details online. I'll send you an encrypted link. We'll plan it out slowly."
Harry instructed, lowering his voice further, "Remember, don't let Elisa know. She blabs about everything and might accidentally spill the beans."
"Okay." Caspian agreed, feeling a bit amused. Harry was quite the little schemer.
He knew that from this moment on, he and Harry, these two swapped-identity "brothers," would be working together.
A plan to bring their parents together was officially underway, masterminded by these two little guys.
After hanging up, Caspian tossed the watch back onto the nightstand and walked to the window.
The night was pressing down heavily, but the city lights were dazzling, like scattered stars, sparsely spread across the world.
He gazed pensively through the window, his countenance inscrutable, rendering his innermost contemplations an enigma to discern.
"Sleep together," he repeated softly, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
Harry was pretty smart. This plan might actually be feasible.
Caspian walked to his desk, opened his computer, and clicked on the encrypted link Harry had sent.
The screen lit up, the chat box flashing repeatedly. Harry was already waiting on the other end.
Harry: [So, have you thought it over?]
Harry's message popped up immediately, filled with impatience.
[Yes.] Caspian typed back, concise and clear.
Harry: [Then let's get to work!]
Harry replied instantly, his words brimming with excitement.
Harry: [Step one, create opportunities for Dad and Mom to be alone together!]
Caspian: [That's easy; leave it to me.]
Caspian replied quickly, with confidence.
Harry: [Great, then step two...]
The two little guys, separated by the virtual world, exchanged messages back and forth, enthusiastically planning their "operation."
Their conversation was filled with childlike innocence, yet the words carried a maturity and cunning beyond their years.
The night grew deeper.
And their secret plotting continued.
A carefully crafted "conspiracy" was quietly unfolding.
The next day, at the Knight Mansion.
"Dad, my head hurts." Harry's face scrunched up and clutched his head, looking pitifully at Alaric.
