Chapter 5 Fathers Also Need to Reflect
"Hey, Caspian, what the heck are you doing?!" Alaric shouted.
Caspian spun around, his eyes blazing with fury as he faced Alaric.
He raised a shard of glass, pointing it at Alaric, and yelled, "You let her go! I don't want to see her!"
"Caspian, she's your mom!" Alaric tried to calm him down.
"She's not my mom! I don't want her to be my mom!" Caspian was out of control, swinging the shard wildly and smashing everything around him.
"Caspian, calm down!" Alaric tried to approach him but got his arm cut by the shard.
Blood quickly stained his shirt, but Alaric ignored the pain, staring at Caspian with a stern voice, "Caspian, you have to accept that she is your mom!"
"Impossible! I'm not her son!" Caspian screamed, suddenly stabbing the shard into his own arm.
"Caspian!" Alaric cried out, rushing to take the shard away.
"Stay back!" Caspian roared, "If you push me, I'll kill myself!"
Alaric froze, seeing the resolute look in his son's eyes, his heart breaking. "Okay, I won't push you."
Alaric's voice trembled, "Just put the shard down, okay?"
Caspian shook his head, "Not unless you make her leave and never come back!"
Alaric looked at Orion, her face pale, eyes filled with fear and hurt.
"Get out." Alaric said to Orion, his voice cold.
Orion didn't dare to resist, trembling as she stood up and quickly left.
"Is that better?" Alaric asked Caspian, his voice weary.
Caspian still didn't put down the shard, glaring at Alaric with hatred.
"Even if you beat me to death, I will never accept her!"
Caspian said each word with conviction, "Never!"
At that moment, a gentle voice came from the doorway, "Hey Caspian, you're pretty fired up."
Alaric and Caspian turned to see Cormac Nash standing at the door, a warm smile on his face.
"Dr. Nash, you're here." Alaric looked like he had seen a savior, "Please, help me talk to Caspian."
Cormac walked over to Caspian, crouching down to look him in the eyes, and softly asked, "Caspian, can you tell me why you dislike her so much?"
Caspian looked at Cormac, the defensiveness in his eyes easing a bit.
He hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, "Because she's not my mom."
Cormac raised an eyebrow, "Then who do you think is your mom?"
Caspian didn't answer, lowering his head in silence.
Cormac didn't press further, standing up and saying to Alaric, "Mr. Knight, this child has a strong psychological defense. We can't compel him."
Alaric nodded, glancing at his injured arm, and told Joe, "Bandage this for me."
Then, he left the living room, giving space to Cormac and Caspian.
Cormac looked at Caspian and gently asked, "Caspian, do you remember how you felt the first time you saw Orion?"
Caspian's body trembled slightly, looking at Cormac with a confused expression.
"I don't remember," he said.
Cormac's eyes deepened, "Then do you remember how you felt the first time you saw Galatea?"
Caspian's pupils shrank, looking at Cormac in shock.
"How do you know?" he stammered.
Cormac smiled but didn't answer, continuing, "Caspian, have you ever thought that maybe there's something special between you and Galatea?"
Caspian's face turned pale, biting his lip tightly, remaining silent.
Cormac looked at him, understanding in his eyes.
"Mr. Knight, Caspian's situation is more complicated than I thought."
Cormac said to Alaric, "He might have some psychological issues."
"Psychological issues?" Alaric frowned, "What kind of issues?"
"Not sure yet," Cormac shook his head, "We need to observe more."
Alaric looked at Cormac, worry in his eyes, "Dr. Nash, you have to help Caspian."
Cormac nodded, "I'll do my best."
He paused, then added, "Mr. Knight, I suggest you also get some psychological counseling."
"Me?" Alaric was taken aback, "Why?"
"Your family dynamics are clearly problematic."
Cormac was blunt, "With your child in this state, you as a father need to reflect as well, don't you think?"
...
Galatea's glass slipped from her hand, shattering on the floor.
She stood up abruptly, her face pale, her heart aching.
"What's happening?" Galatea clutched her chest, the pain feeling like a punch to the gut.
She knew this feeling too well; something must have happened to those two kids!
She quickly grabbed her phone, about to dial, when there was a frantic knock on the door.
"Dr. Hartley, something terrible has happened!" A nurse rushed in, her face white with fear, "You've been fired!"
"Fired?" Galatea was stunned, "Why?"
"Dr. Archer ordered it himself, saying..." The nurse hesitated, not daring to continue.
"Speak!" Galatea urged.
"Saying Mr. Knight pressured him." The nurse's voice was barely a whisper.
Galatea's face darkened instantly. That bastard was playing dirty!
She clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her palms. Did Alaric have to bully her this much?
Galatea thought, 'Fine, the more he pushed, the more I would resist!'
She took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and told the nurse, "Got it."
With that, she turned and walked out, her back straight.
At the Knight Mansion.
"Get out! All of you, get out!" Caspian screamed, tearing the room apart.
His eyes were bloodshot, like a little madman, biting anyone who came near.
Alaric stood at the door, watching the scene, his heart breaking.
"Caspian, calm down!" He tried to approach, but Caspian shoved him away.
"Don't touch me! You're not my dad anymore!" Caspian screamed, shaking all over.
Alaric's face turned ashen. His son rejected him again.
"Dr. Nash, hurry!" Alaric shouted towards the door.
Cormac rushed in, holding a sedative.
"Hold him down!" Cormac ordered.
Alaric, despite his heartache, grabbed Caspian and held him tightly.
Cormac quickly administered the sedative.
The drug took effect quickly, and Caspian gradually calmed down, falling asleep.
Alaric tenderly carried him to bed, meticulously tucked him in. As Alaric gazed upon his pallid little visage, he felt an overwhelming anguish within his heart.
"Dr. Nash, how is Caspian?" Alaric's voice was hoarse.
Cormac shook his head, his expression serious, "Not good, his split personality is worse than before."
"How did this happen?" Alaric was bewildered, "He was fine before."
"Because he harbors an intense aversion towards Orion," Cormac declared candidly, his gaze fixed upon Alaric.
Alaric fell silent.
He knew his son disliked Orion, but he didn't realize it was this severe.
"Actually," Alaric hesitated, then decided to speak, "Caspian wants Galatea to be his mom."
