Chapter 007 Rough Treatment
Galatea was completely stunned. Was this really the same cold and domineering Alaric?
Alaric saw Galatea too, and his expression instantly turned icy.
"What are you doing here?" His voice was cold, dripping with disdain.
Galatea snapped back to reality, steadied herself, and said, "I want to talk to you about your medical check-up."
"There's nothing for us to talk about."
Alaric rejected her coldly, "Please leave."
Galatea didn’t back down. "Mr. Knight, I know you hate me, but even if I’ve resigned, I have the right to know why you fired me."
"You don’t need to know!" Alaric’s voice suddenly rose, his eyes blazing with anger.
"Alaric, can you calm down for a second?"
Galatea tried to soothe him, "I know you have misunderstandings about me, but we can talk this out."
"There’s nothing to talk about!" Alaric roared, "Get out!"Alaric’s voice was so loud it felt like it could blow the roof off. Galatea was shaken, her head spinning, and she almost lost her balance.
She looked at Alaric in disbelief. His expression was so contorted that it appeared he wished to rend her asunder.
"Alaric, can you be reasonable? You fired me, and I’m here to get an explanation. Is that wrong?" Galatea held back her anger, but her voice still trembled.
Alaric sneered, his laugh filled with undisguised contempt. "Explanation? Galatea, do you even have the nerve to ask me that? Tell me, why did you approach Caspian? What are you up to?"
He stepped closer, his whole body radiating coldness, as if freezing the air around him.
Galatea found it hard to breathe.
"I wasn’t up to anything! It was just a misunderstanding that day; I mistook someone else for him. Do you have to push me this far?"
Galatea’s voice rose; she couldn’t understand why Alaric hated her so much.
"Save your lies for someone gullible!" Alaric suddenly grabbed Galatea’s wrist, his grip so strong it felt like he was going to crush her bones.
He dragged her out, treating her roughly like a rag doll.
Galatea couldn’t keep her balance, stumbling and nearly falling several times.
"Release me! Alaric, let go of me!" Galatea struggled desperately, yet her strength compared to Alaric's was akin to an ant attempting to topple a mighty oak.
Through the living room, across the yard, Alaric dragged her all the way to the front gate.
Galatea was thrown out harshly, landing on the ground like a discarded sack.
Her elbows and knees burned with pain, but she couldn’t care less. She looked up at Alaric standing at the gate; he stood there like a merciless king.
"Galatea, this is your final warning. Stay away from Caspian, or I’ll make you regret ever coming into this world."
Alaric’s voice was like it came from an ice cellar, each word carrying a chill.
The iron gate closed, separating Galatea and Alaric into two different worlds.
Galatea sat on the cold ground, trembling all over. She felt like a clown, utterly humiliated, engulfed in desperation, and consumed by wrath.
Upstairs in the villa, Caspian was pounding on the door with his little fists. "Let me out! I want to see Mommy! Let me out!"
His voice was hoarse from shouting, his fists red from pounding, but the door didn’t budge.
“Mr. Caspian Knight, please calm down. Mr. Alaric Knight will be back soon. Be good.” Joe’s voice outside the door was fake and impatient.
Caspian didn’t listen, continuing to pound on the door, each sound louder and more urgent.
He heard Mommy’s voice! He had to get out!
Suddenly, the pounding stopped.
Joe thought Caspian had finally quieted down and sighed in relief, but then he heard a faint sound from inside the room.
He pressed his ear to the door, listening carefully, and almost fainted from shock.
Inside the room, Caspian was tearing the bed sheets into strips, tying them together, one end to the window handle, the other thrown outside.
He took a deep breath, grabbed the sheets, and Caspian climbed out of the second-floor window like an agile monkey.
This move was clearly practiced.
Caspian slid down the sheets bit by bit, his small hands burning with pain, but he didn’t make a sound.
Finally, his feet touched the ground.
Caspian ignored the pain, barefoot, running along the path, and shouted, “Mommy! Mommy!”
His voice echoed far in the empty villa area.
Galatea walked in a daze, her mind a mess.
She couldn’t understand how things had turned out this way.
She just wanted to try to find clues about her son; why was it so difficult?
Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her and a familiar voice calling her.
“Mommy! Mommy!”
Galatea turned sharply; a small figure was running towards her.
The child was barefoot, wearing only a thin nightgown, shivering in the wind.
Galatea’s heart felt like it was being squeezed hard; she thought she was seeing things.
“Harry? How did you follow me out here?” She rushed over, scooping up the child, her voice changing pitch.
“Mommy, what’s wrong?” Caspian looked at Galatea’s red eyes, confused.
“Harry, you can’t run out alone! It’s dangerous!”Galatea reminded with concern.
She thought this was her mischievous son Harry.
Caspian hesitated, not understanding why Mommy called him “Harry,” but he didn’t explain, just hugged Galatea’s neck tightly.
“Mommy, let’s go home.”He whispered.
Galatea held Caspian, her heart aching.
She didn’t notice the calmness in Caspian’s eyes, unusual for his age.
She also didn’t notice Joe, not far behind them, running around like a headless chicken.
“Mr. Caspian Knight! Mr. Caspian Knight! Where are you?”
Joe hurried back to the villa and rushed into the living room, shouting at the empty room, “Mr. Alaric Knight! Mr. Alaric Knight! Something terrible has happened! Mr. Caspian Knight is missing!”
Alaric’s heart clenched, more painful than losing a ten-billion-dollar contract.
He rushed into Caspian’s room, the room was empty, only the torn bed sheets hanging from the window like a defeated white flag, fluttering in the wind.
Alaric understood immediately; Caspian had run away again!
His face turned dark, grabbing his phone, his voice cold enough to freeze, “Immediately! Lock down the entire villa area, search every inch, and find Caspian!”
