Chapter 2
Gianna's expression was cool as she quirked an eyebrow, her eyes betraying no emotion, "If I rang you up, it means I've made up my mind."
Faith Walton chuckled as she started the engine. "I've been waiting for you to leave Felix. You spent all that time and effort fixing his leg, and he's still fooling around with your sister overseas. The guy's a complete jerk! Forget about men. You're much better off playing with money."
Seeing Faith's growing outrage and speeding along with it, Gianna couldn't help but crack a smile.
"Calm down. I'm not looking to trade a graveyard of marriage for an actual one."
Faith sighed with relief, her rant cooling. Tentatively, she asked, "What's next on the agenda for you?"
Truth be told if Gianna didn't reach out, Faith herself would've sought her out before long.
"Just taking a break to start. How's my company faring?"
In recent years, Gianna had dedicated all her energy to Felix, neglecting her brainchild clothing company, which she had left to the shareholders. Apart from cashing out dividends, she hadn't intervened in its affairs for three years.
She hadn't checked her account balance, but as long as they were following the business plan, it wouldn’t be too bad.
Faith's expression shifted. "Let's discuss it after you have some rest..."
Gianna glanced at her, realizing the news couldn't be good.
But managing the company was the last thing on her mind right now. She agreed. "All right, just get me to the airport."
"Got any destination in mind?"
"Not really. I'll just pick a place when I get there."
Gianna knocked on the door. Her eyes were indifferent, but she could not hide her exhaustion.
Faith sighed silently in her heart, it seems that no matter how excellent people encounter feelings, they will lose their reason.
Upon reaching the airport, Gianna looked at Faith after getting out of the car and said, "Take my luggage to the villa in the North Town, Town Elm Bay."
"Sure thing. How soon will you be back?"
"A month or so," Gianna replied with no actual plan ahead.
"All right, I'll wait for you."
Gianna gave a casual wave and walked into the airport.
...
A month later.
At the Seattle branch of Sirius Trading Syndicate, in a conference room.
Felix was discussing with the Department Manager about the development direction of the branch for the next quarter when his phone suddenly started ringing.
Seeing Ximena's name shown on the phone, Felix frowns and says, "Take a five-minute break."
He walked out of the conference room, and as soon as he got on the phone, Ximena's
"Felix, I've been to the Villa several times looking for Gianna, but she hasn't been at home. Did you two argue, so she gave me an attitude."
Ximena's tone was full of discontent and anger, and she didn't like Gianna, and now this made her impression even worse.
Felix frowned. He had been occupied in Seattle for several days, anticipating Gianna's call to apologize. However, amidst his busy schedule, he eventually forgot about it.
When Ximena called Felix, he realized that Gianna had not contacted him for an entire month, something that was previously unthinkable.
"I'll call Gianna later. Why do you want to talk to her?"
Ximena snarled, "Your grandma's birthday is approaching, and I'm going to ask her to choose a gift. Who would have imagined you being turned down repeatedly? If the person you married back then were Bella,...."
Felix interrupted Ximena, "I see. I'll give her a call and get back to you."
After hanging up, Felix found Gianna's phone number and dialed it. However, each call ended up being redirected. Felix's expression suddenly darkened. It was evident that Gianna had blocked him!
Suppressing his anger, he turned to Sophia Mars and said, "Call Gianna!"
"Right away."
Sophia's call went through but remained unanswered.
Felix's expression grew increasingly stern. After a few attempts, Sophia braced herself and said, “Mr. Clinton, she didn't pick up."
With an icy demeanor, he responded, "I see. I'll continue with the meeting. Check with the Villa's property management."
An hour later, as soon as Felix left the meeting room, Sophia stepped forward with tepidity.
"Mr. Clinton, the villa manager said that Miss Redstone left with her suitcase on the second day of your business trip."
As Felix and Gianna were secretly married, Sophia always referred to Gianna as Miss Redstone. Felix hadn't thought much about it before, but now he subconsciously frowned, forcing down the discomfort in his heart.
Felix coldly said, "Go and find out where Gianna is now and book the fastest flight home."
Suppressing the discomfort brewing inside, he stated coldly, "Find out where she is now. Book me on the next flight back home."
"All right, then, will Miss Bella come back with us?"
