Chapter 4

The echo of a fight rang out. Carlie screeched as the crowds Men entered the bar, carrying weapons and dressed all in black. These men belonged to two camps, Jonathan Austin's and the "opponent" the man had mentioned earlier. But despite the dark color of the clothes, it was impossible for Carlie to distinguish them one by one.

And that worried her even more. Not knowing who was who, until bullets were fired at each other.

"Come here,"the pull of someone's hand once again startled her.

"Let go!"snapped Carlie, dismissing the reflex. "Don't touch me, asshole!"

Jonathan Austin faced her, rolling his eyes lazily. "Do you want me to leave you here and die in a matter of seconds?"

Carlie stared at the man in disbelief. In the middle of a fight, in the middle of people shooting at each other, he still looked relaxed. As if he were in a mere movie theater.

"Where are you taking me!?"asked Carlie suspiciously.

"I don't know, to a place where you won't die?"the man asked indifferently. He clucked. "Never mind, come quickly,"he grabbed Carlie's hand, this time forcefully. "My subordinates have prepared a getaway car and you will come with me.

"Because the truth is that i don't care about your life at all, but harming a Heston daughter is troublesome, and i don't want that."

"Can't you slow down your car, damn it?"Carlie's screams have been echoing non-stop since five minutes ago. Now her ass was sitting on the seat of a black car, a car that drove like a motorcycle.

It's a crazy thing that doesn't remember a human being in it.

The gas is pressed relentlessly, even on the bends or speed bumps they encounter. As if brakes weren't an option. And Carlie has never been treated this badly by any driver who has served her.

This was the worst ride she had ever experienced!

"When it's times like these, you look like an ordinary girl instead of a famous celebrity,"Jonathan Austin, or Jona, as he prefers to be called, scoffs.

Carlie growled under her breath,"i don't want to be spoken to like that by a man who so losingly leaves a fight!"

Jona laughed blandly,"you just don't understand what's going on right now."

Carlie hersed,"of course i don't understand! Don't, and i won't understand about you crazy people who spend their lives in violence and murder!"

"Isn't that better? Rather than you carving fake smiles, but putting each other down in a 'holy' trial."

Carlie growled. This man really looked fearless. Even in a precarious situation like this.

"My subordinates are at your bar."

"Then give up, they it must be gone,"Carlie gaped will be shocked. 'Is it that easy? He was talking about someone who had been taken from him!?'

"The explosion was so loud, they probably didn't even have their skulls left."

"You're Austin bastard!"

Carlie screamed again as her head hit the roof of the car after the car's tires jumped over a high-speed bump without pressing the brakes, until the car was momentarily airborne.

She was overwhelmed. Her heart couldn't even stop shaking. The fear Carlie felt was fear and worry for her life. And it's a fear she hasn't felt in years.

Madame Eloise was never frightened.

What filled her with rage, however, was seeing how Jonathan Austin, along with the driver who brought them, looked fine while she did not. They were calm, while Carlie was panicking. It was as if she were the pathetic one alone here.

And she hates this!

Jona turned his head when the watkie talkie that he put it down on the sofa as his car sounded off. "What?"his voice replied to someone trying to reach his on the other side. The voice was faint, but Carlie couldn't hear it.

But even so, both Jona and his driver immediately understood what was being said from the other side.

"They're here, boss,"said the driver, looking in the rearview mirror.

"Late as usual,"Jona grumbled. "On the count of five, ditch the car, you got it?"

"Yes, sir."

Carlie was stunned when suddenly the man's eyes turned to her. "On the count of five, open your door and jump out, got it?"he asked, sounding more like an order than a request.

"Wh-what!?"Carlie asked. "Are you crazy!? You're telling me to get out of the car this fast!?"

"You can't?"

"Of course i can't, don't you have a brain!?"

The man stretched out a smile. His evil, cynical smile. "So, die and rot here, Carlie Eloise."

"W-what?"

"If you want to live, do as i say, if not, stay here and die, it's as simple as that,"Jona said, her expression flat and unchanging. She didn't even seem intent on explaining what was happening to them now. Carlie stared at her in disbelief. 'The more i'm with him, the more i hate this man."

"Five,"he started counting. "Wait a minute, i'm not wasted yet."

"Four, Three,"

"Austin!"

But the worse Carlie's panic was printed on her face, the happier Jona looked.

"Two and one,"he smiled.

"Now, Eloise!"

Jona's words were like a sneer. As if saying to a child,"eat up, you idiot." But even so, Carlie complied. She was following someone's orders! After all these years, her orders had the highest rank among anyone.

Her body reflexively opened the side of the car door on her side and jumped out. Her first hand hit the ground, making a loud sound like the crack of breaking bones. And from the pain that radiated, Carlie instantly knew she had damaged her left shoulder.

But even so, she is lucky to be alive. After bouncing off the car, She was still breathing and within seconds...

Duar!

The car they were previously riding in exploded into pieces. Apparently, Jona's enemies put explosives in the man's car before the fight started. And it wouldn't be Jona and his subordinates if they didn't realize that before their lives were taken.

Carlie grimaced inwardly. 'If i hadn't obeyed, i'd have become debris over there.'

But her surprise didn't end there. It wasn't long before a flock of black cars approached them and Carlie's gut feeling told her that this time it was the enemy.

With a weak body and full of wounded, Carlie got up with difficulty, trying to hide herself in one of the large rocks in the middle of the rocky hill. And there, she realized that there were two groups of cars that had just arrived. One from the front, one from the back. Surrounding them perfectly.

The driver, who had been with her, lay on the ground, his skull pierced by a bullet. The enemy shot him first before he could escape. Meanwhile, Jonathan Austin...

'Shit! What the hell is that guy?'

His hands were held down by his enemy, while a rifle was pointed at his forehead. About 10 people surrounded him, guns clearly pointed at him. He was caught, even. Before he fought back.

Carlie bit her lip. 'Don't tell me i'm the only one who can move freely in here! That jerk! Is he actually that weak!?'

"What a sight,"a man who got out of one of the cars from the crowd was fat and wore a black denim jacket. He wore long jeans and carried a knife in his pocket.

Carlie chuckled. 'The fashion is terrible!'

"What dream did i have last night to see you face down on the floor with my ammunition pointed at your head, Rey de la Oscuridad?"he asked, showing off his two gold-colored teeth.

Jona's eyes narrowed sharply. "Edgar Samos,"he hissed.

And Jona's hateful whisper made the man smile even wider.

"After tracking you all over the world,

Across continents, i finally found you,"Edgar said, smiling broadly. "And this time i won't let you go, not until i've avenged my sister, whom you killed, just because you were worried about that girl chasing you endlessly."

Carlie gaped in disbelief. 'This man killed a woman. Just because he felt uncomfortable being chased?!'

'Wh-what the fuck!?'

Jona laughed. "Oh yeah, that girl. What's her name? Entoinette Samos, isn't it?"the man chuckled hoarsely. "I remember drowning her in the ocean. So that your family couldn't even give her a proper burial."

Edgar gritted his jaw. "Asshole!"he signaled his subordinates to prepare to fire. "Don't expect to see the sun until tomorrow, asshole! And i'll make you regret spending the rest of your life in the hellhole!"

Jona smiled even wider, feeling a handgun press against his temple. Death had never frightened him

But, on the other hand, is behind a giant rock covered her entire body, and a woman was panicking like crazy. 'S-stupid! Can't he do anything!? His mind screamed. Don't tell me he's just going to die! If he dies, what about me!?

Sweat poured down her forehead, even her hands, which had always been beautiful and smooth, were now covered in sweat. She peeked over the side of the table, staring at Jonathan Austin and what a surprise she made, seeing Jona looking back at her through the tail of her eyes.

'That man knows i'm here.'
