Chapter 6

Freshia Ava’s POV

At that time, I was just about to leave the main hall to change my wine-soaked clothes when I bumped into Evelyn, accompanied by the maid who had been assigned by Mrs. Winston. But suddenly Evelyn grabbed my hand, making me stop in my tracks.

“Madam, this woman is not from our circle. So, he shouldn't be at this event. I'm just trying to help you in selecting the guests who come." Evelyn said to Mrs. Winston who was just about to walk towards the stage to continue the diamond exhibition that evening.

Hearing that, Mrs. Winston immediately stopped in her tracks and then turned to Evelyn. “Miss Turner, has William Turner never taught you basic manners?” Mrs. Winston said. I saw Evelyn's eyes widen, she was surprised when the name William Turner, which I guessed was her father's name, was mentioned by Mrs. Winston.

“If you claim to belong to high society, you should know the basic etiquette that teaches you not to make a scene at other people's parties.” Mrs. Winston said again.

"But Madam, don't you care about people who might be uncomfortable with the presence of someone like him at this event?" Evelyn said while looking at me.

“This is my show. There is no one who can organize this event other than me. Miss Turner, I am very disappointed with your far-from-honorable behavior. Seeing your out-of-bounds attitude seems to make me doubt your father's credibility. The fact that he didn't educate his daughter well, makes me doubt whether he can manage anything else properly. It seems that I will reconsider the offer of cooperation submitted by your family.”

I saw Evelyn's eyes widen after hearing what Mrs. Winston had just said. “Madam, it is unfair for Madam to treat my family like that. Know that it was him who was wrong from the start. He's the one who caused this, ma'am." Said Evelyn who then threw away my hand which she had been holding to stop me and pointed at me with her index finger.

“Evelyn, enough. Please don't embarrass yourself any further.” Simon said suddenly and at the same time, Mrs. Winston immediately ordered her men to take Evelyn out of her house.

Evelyn looked rebellious, but Mrs. Winston's two large men did not seem to be deterred in the slightest. However, before being forcefully dragged away from the room, Evelyn said to me, "This is all because of you, Freshia! I'll tell you what happened today! I promise I'll make you regret having anything to do with me!”

I couldn't do anything, just remained silent, and then took a deep breath. I really don't want to be dragged into a drama-filled problem like this. A split second later regret surged through me. If I had known that Simon already had a fiancee, I definitely wouldn't have wanted to come with him to attend tonight's event.

Now I am in one of the rooms, which is specially reserved for guests, which is on the second floor of Mrs. Winston's house accompanied by a female servant and Simon. After giving me a towel and a blue dress for my change of clothes, the maid immediately excused herself and left the room, leaving me and Simon alone in the room. "Simon, you shouldn't have treated me like that in front of Evelyn and you should have followed her when she was forcibly taken out of Mrs. Winston's house."

Simon seemed to take a deep breath before finally responding to my words. “I'm sorry for what happened today, Freshia.”

I felt like the man in front of me was deliberately changing the conversation. “It's not your fault, Simon. It's clear that this was my negligence. But I didn't expect that Evelyn would treat me like that. But at least I can understand his feelings. I know that he definitely hates me."

I paused my words and looked at Simon who was also looking at me. "Which woman is not jealous when she finds her fiancé with another woman and she sees it with her own eyes.”

Simon closed his eyes and then took a deep breath. “Freshia, we were forced into an arranged marriage. I oppose and never agree to this matchmaking. I have absolutely no feelings for Evelyn. But I couldn't do anything when my family said that we wouldn't have achieved success like this if my family hadn't collaborated with Evelyn's family. This matchmaking is only for business purposes. No more."

"Still, none of that will erase the fact that Evelyn is already your fiancé, Simon," I said. "Even though you don't like him, that doesn't mean you can hurt him and act cruelly towards him, Simon. Remember that he also has feelings." I said back.

Simon just listened to me silently. He did not make any defense. "But of all this, what makes me disappointed is that you never told me anything about this. Even though I've considered you my close friend all this time, Simon.

But it turns out I don't know anything about something as important as this. "And besides, if you really intended to use me to avoid and make Evelyn jealous, you should have told me first."

Simon denied what I just said. “No, Freshia. That's really not what I meant." He looked so frustrated. As if he wanted to convey something to me, but he looked hesitant. Then, in the end, I just saw him sigh.

I, who was already tired at that time, just let him be and didn't force him to explain further. I don't want to make this problem drag on any further. Then Simon excused himself and went out of the room after receiving a call from a colleague who was in the main hall, and also to make room for me to change my clothes.

Not long after Simon left me alone, when I rushed to close and lock the door to the room, suddenly the lights in the room went out. Now the room, which has an area of approximately 8x8 square meters, only gets light from outside coming in through the large window, making the room dim. Suddenly my mind remembered a room that I had seen from the garden, where in it was Eros Robinson who was looking at me.

At the same time, I felt the presence of someone else in the room and after that, I immediately turned my body towards the bedroom door and found someone already in front of the door which was now closed. In the dim light that was slightly illuminating the room, by squinting both eyes to see the object in my vision clearly, I knew that the person now in front of me was a man.

I felt fear start to spread throughout my body which made me just freeze in place. Then without warning, he immediately walked quickly towards me and covered my mouth with his hand, ordering me to remain silent and not scream.
