Chapter 3
Selina slid out of the dimly lit house, her steps slow and cautious, her pulse thumping with every step. She slipped through the darkness, breathing in short breaths because she was afraid to speak, as the heavy stillness of the night closed in on her.
With a mix of terror and resolve, her heart pounded as she went quickly, each step bringing her one step closer to freedom and away from Felix’'s crushing grip. Even though she was aware that one mistake could mean disaster, she couldn't let that stop her. Not when her life was on the line.
Selina approached the front door and turned the handle cautiously, hoping it wouldn't creak and give her away. Her heart pounded in her breast the whole time. She was relieved as the door quietly opened, and she cautiously stepped into the cool night air, keeping a watchful eye out for any potential threats.
Felix was waiting for her to make her escape, watching her every move with his surveillance cameras on his laptop without her knowledge.
Breathing in frantic gasps, Selina sprinted through the gloomy alleyways, the stinging cold of the winter night biting into her skin. She had nearly succeeded, nearly left the home altogether, but her heart fell like a stone as she looked over her shoulder. She noticed Felix's recognizable silhouette in the distance, his footsteps reverberating menacingly against the empty streets.
Selina felt a wave of panic take hold of her chest and she forced herself to run faster, her legs pumping frantically as she ran away from the man who had been haunting her every waking moment. But despite her best efforts, the sense of impending disaster that hung over her like an eerie cloud lingered.
Selina's foot caught on a loose cobblestone as she rounded a bend, causing her to slump to the ground while letting out a painful scream. Felix's hard hold on the back of her neck felt like claws, his fingers burrowing into her skin before she ever realized what had happened.
She cried out, thrashing violently, "No!" as she attempted to escape his hold. But Felix dragged her back to her feet with an unwavering grip and overwhelming strength.
"Let me go!" With a voice hoarse with desperation, Selina sobbed. "I don't want to be with you!"
Felix's face stayed neutral, his steely determination to stare into her green eyes sending a chill down her spine. "You don't mean that, Selina," he stated in a cool, collected tone. "You belong with me, and I won't let you run away again."
Selina's mind was racing with fear and confusion as she battled against Felix's hard grip, her pulse pounding in her chest. She was aware that she would never be able to get away from him. Nevertheless, this did not deter her from battling with all of her might and from holding onto the hopeless dream that she would manage to escape his oppressive grip.
As Felix knelt beside her, his grip loosening slightly, Selina's mind raced with conflicting emotions. Part of her wanted to believe his promises of a future where they wouldn't hurt each other, where she would grow to like him. But another part, a small voice buried deep within her soul, whispered words of warning, reminding her of the darkness that lurked within Felix's heart.
"I don't want to hurt you, Selina," Felix said softly, his voice tinged with sadness. "I just want us to be together, to have a future where we can both be happy."
Selina's heart ached at his words, torn between the desire to believe him and the fear of what he might do if she let her guard down. But before she could respond, Felix's lips pressed against her forehead in a gentle kiss, sending a shiver of revulsion down her spine.
Selina recoiled from his touch, her eyes blazing with fury as she pushed herself away from him. "You don't get to decide what's best for me," she spat, her voice trembling with anger. "I will never be happy with you, Felix. Not after everything you've done."
Felix's gaze hardened, his patience wearing thin as he reached out to grasp her arm. "You're being irrational, Selina," he said, his voice taking on a dangerous edge. "You know that we belong together. You know that we can make this work if you just give me a chance."
But Selina shook her head, tears streaming down her face as she struggled against his grip. "I'll never give you a chance," she cried, her voice breaking with emotion. "I'll fight you every step of the way, Felix. I'll never let you break me.”
Felix's eyes narrowed, a flicker of anger crossing his features as he tightened his hold on her arm. "You're making a mistake, Selina," he warned, his voice low and threatening. "But if you won't come willingly, then I'll have to make you."
“Please, Felix," she whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Let me go. I don't want this. I don't want you."
But Felix's expression remained impassive, his eyes fixed on her with an intensity that sent a chill down her spine. "I'm sorry, Selina," he said quietly, his voice tinged with sadness. "But I can't let you leave. Not now, not ever.”
With a swift movement, Felix scooped Selina into his arms, ignoring her protests as he carried her out of the room. As they moved through the dimly lit streets back to the mansion, memories flooded back to him, memories of the snowy night they first met.
"I promise you, Selina," he whispered, his breath warm against her skin. "I'll take care of you. We'll be happy together, just like we were on that snowy night when we first met."
Memories of that night flooded Selina's mind, the bitter cold of the winter air and the warmth of Felix's touch intertwining in a tangled web of longing and regret. But as she looked into his eyes, she saw something different, something darker lurking beneath the surface.
With a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach, Selina realized that she couldn't trust Felix, not now, not ever. And as he lifted her into his arms and carried her out of the alleyway, she knew that she was facing a future far darker than anything she had ever imagined and that alone made her release a heart breaking cry.
