CHAPTER FOUR

Flashback…

The snow fell softly outside the grand mansion, creating a serene blanket over the landscape. The dining hall was filled with merriment and conversation, with the sound of glasses clinking occasionally. Among the guests stood Selina Nash, her sharp eyes observing the intricate jewelry adorning the necks and wrists of the high society ladies.

Her friend Simon Shen walked over, a charming smile on his lips as he stifled a yawn. "Selina, Darling, you seem genuinely bored. Come on, before you become any more bored, let me introduce you to a few of the other guests.

As Selina laughed and offered a grateful smile, she found herself drawn into the lively group of people Simon had introduced her to.

"Selina, darling, have you met Lady Margaret yet?" Simon asked, gesturing to an elegant woman adorned in diamonds and pearls.

Lady Margaret extended her hand with a gracious smile. "A pleasure to meet you, my dear. I must say, your dress is simply divine. Who is the designer?"

Selina was wearing a midnight blue velvet dress that hugged her curves in all the right places, the rich fabric accentuating her slender frame. The off-the-shoulder neckline added a touch of elegance, while the intricate lace detailing along the bodice added a hint of allure. The dress flowed gracefully to the floor, the hem brushing against the snowy ground with each step she took.

As she moved, the soft glow of the moonlight caught the subtle sheen of the velvet, casting a mesmerizing shimmer over the fabric. The deep hue of the dress complemented her olive skin tone, while the emerald green of her eyes seemed to sparkle with a newfound intensity, as if illuminated by the night sky itself.

Combined with her cascading brown curls, swept up in an elegant yet effortless updo, Selina exuded an aura of timeless beauty and sophistication, something even Simon noticed and couldn't take his eyes off her.

Selina returned the compliment with a polite nod. "Thank you, Lady Margaret. It's a piece from my own collection."

The conversation drifted to the latest fashion trends, but Selina's attention began to divert as the topic turned to trivial matters of gossip and wealth. She excused herself under the pretext of needing some fresh air, slipping out into the snowy night.

Once outside, Selina took a moment to gather her thoughts, the cold air clearing her mind. Yet, as she wandered further away from the warmth of the mansion, she couldn't shake the feeling of restlessness that gnawed at her.

Outside, the cold air hit her like a wave, awakening her senses. With a mischievous glint in her eye, Selina set to work crafting a snowman, her nimble fingers shaping the frosty figure with expert precision. Laughing quietly at herself, she began to gather snow to build her childhood toy.

Meanwhile, hidden in the shadows of the mansion, Felix Yeats observed the scene with keen interest. His sharp blue eyes caught sight of Selina through the window, her figure illuminated by the soft glow of the moon. Felix felt his curiosity piqued by her attractiveness and her seeming lack of interest in the celebrations inside.

"He whispered to himself, "Fascinating," his eyes never taking off from Selina's figure. Felix turned to face his assistant, John, who was standing silently next to him, and gave a command. "John, I want you to research that woman as much as possible. Her background, her name, everything you can find. Leave nothing out."

John gave Felix a subtle nod before disappearing into the night, leaving Felix to mull over his thoughts.

Meanwhile, inside the banquet hall, Simon's senses tingled with the unmistakable feeling of being watched. Glancing around discreetly, his eyes settled on the darkened room where Felix lurked, his presence like a shadow in the night.

Everyone knew who Felix was. The king of the underground. A self-made billionaire. His ruthlessness screamed more and everyone feared him. His reputation preceded him, but little Selina knew nothing of that. She didn't even know who's dinner night she would be coming to.

Though he was aware of Felix's reputation and his ties to the underworld, Simon chose not to alarm Selina with this knowledge. Instead, he approached her with a charming grin, offering her his arm.

"Selina, my dear, it's time to return to the warmth and comfort of the banquet hall," he said smoothly, his voice masking any hint of concern.

Simon led Selina back inside when she nodded. However, she couldn't get rid of the feeling that she was being watched as they walked, sending a shudder down her spine as she turned to face the dimly lit room..

She had no idea that Felix was staring at her retreated body with a growing yearning.

Felix Yeats, the king of the underworld, couldnt believe he would wver fawn over a lady. He pondered his next move as he watched Selina disappear into the snowy night. His mind raced with possibilities, his curiosity about the enigmatic woman driving him to formulate a plan.

First, he would dispatch his most trusted assistant to gather information about Selina Nash. That was already in action. Next, he would ensure that Selina found herself in his presence once again. Whether it be through a carefully planned encounter at a social event or a chance meeting on the streets of the city, Felix would make sure that their paths crossed once more.

Once he had her within his grasp, Felix would employ every tactic at his disposal to win her trust. He would shower her with gifts and compliments, all the while subtly probing for information that could be used to his advantage.

But Felix knew that Selina was no ordinary woman. There was a fire in her eyes, a strength in her demeanor that intrigued him more than anything else. And as he made his plans, he couldn't shake the feeling that their meeting on that snowy night was just the beginning of a dangerous game, one where the stakes were higher than he could have ever imagined

Selina felt herself lured back into the flurry of laughter and discussion once she was inside the dining hall. But even with the room's warmth, her mind kept returning to the mystery figure in the shadows..

She had no idea that their chance meeting that cold evening would be the start of a mysterious and intriguing story in which allies would be formed in the most unlikely of places and secrets would be found around every corner.
