EIGHT
It is been two days since that moment happened. Every day boys will come over to the cafe to meet and talk with me. Mrs. Matilda was overjoyed when she finally saw me having a lot of friends aside from Chel and Leandro since she knew that I was always an introverted one. I dislike being with people as I always try to observe them first before befriending them.
"Charlotte!" Chel shouted my name which made me look at her running towards me ding her bag. "Are you free today?" she asks.
I put my things in my bag first before responding. "I do not, why?" Chel smiled at me and locked her hands in my arms.
"How about coming with me? Let us eat unli chicken wings! Today is our payday! reward yourself at least!" she said. I knew it, she would invite me to eat with her. Well, there was nothing I could do for today so I accepted her invitation.
Wayang also called me earlier in the morning when I did not show up to her. I received a scolding from her and even shouted at me she wouldn't help me anymore. She is always like that when she always gets mad at me but after a couple of days, she will eventually send me a message and give me the information I need.
We were now on our way to go to the restaurant me and Chel used to go to. As usual, their food here is delicious and also budget friendly. Most of their customers here are students. As we enjoy our food, one group of friends head inside the restaurant with their loud voices laughing and talking about something which some of us turn our heads to look at.
When they notice that we are now looking at them, they shut their mouth and bow their heads as they feel ashamed of themselves.
"High schoolers these days, keep on yapping and screaming their crush's name. I guess those kids came from a cheap school," a lady beside us said, which made me look at her while eating fries in front of her. "I told you we should look for a better restaurant, not here. It is very noisy and ew," she added and looked at the place around.
Because of what the lady had said, it enraged me. How could she judge the place when it was so neat and clean? If she did not like it here, she should not have come! I wanted to scold her for her behavior, but I chose to remain silent. I do not want to start a fight here.
"Chill, Kal. The food here is so good, so I like it here, and it is very affordable," her friend says as she eats her food and looks at her. The lady named Kal simply rolled her eyes.
"Why?" Chel asks when I stop eating to listen in on their conversation. I shook my head, smiling at her.
"Just look around Daisy! People here are gross," Kal said in a disgusted tone, indicating how much she dislikes it here. "Especially the woman beside me, urgh, I want to go home! Can you eat faster!?" she yelled at her friend, making her pout.
Both Chel and I heard what she said, but I chose to remain silent because I was so used to it. But Chel stood up and dashed towards Kal, slapping her in the cheeks. "You disgusting piece of shit, how dare you call my friend gross, huh!?" she yelled, drawing everyone's attention to us.
I was surprised by what she did and quickly grabbed her hand, telling her to stop because everyone was looking at us, but she did not listen. Everyone heard the slap Kal received, so they gossiped about it, and some of them even laughed at Kal, which enraged her.
Kal stood up and slapped Chel's cheeks, which shocked everyone in the restaurant. Chel's face turned away from her when Kal slapped her. Chel was taken aback and smirked before looking at Kal's face. "How dare you!" Chel yelled, pulling Kal's hair, and Kal followed suit.
I quickly stood up to stop Chel, and Kal's friend also attempted to stop her. We finally separated the two and Kal glared at Chel in anger. Chel had finished fixing her hair and was about to run towards Kal when I stopped her. "Chel! Stop it already!" I yelled, which caused her to look at me.
"I am sorry," she replied calmly, looking at me before turning her head to look at Kal. "I just can't bear what that woman said to you! How can she be like that when she's not beautiful either? Calling you gross!? How absurd!" She yelled, pointing at Kal, causing everyone to look at her.
Three restaurant employees and their manager arrived at the scene and casually asked us what had happened. "Those two are causing a commotion here in your restaurant! How dare she slap me when she can't even give proof that I am calling her friend gross? What a disgrace!" Kal was yelling and pointing her hands at us.
She is correct, we do not have proof that she said that. Chel was at fault here, as she slapped Kal abruptly.
I quickly approach the manager and apologize. "I am sorry for causing a fight here. We will leave in an instant after we finish eating our food here," I said with a smile. The manager nods, taps my shoulder, and smiles.
"It is fine, young lady; please don't do it again; both of you are our regular customers, so I was surprised when I saw you in the scene," the old man, who is the manager, responded to what I said. I didn't know how to respond, so I simply smiled bitterly.
"Tsk," Kal clicked her tongue before quickly taking her bag. "Daisy, let us go. This cheap restaurant is making my blood boil!" she yelled, quickly exiting the restaurant. Daisy, her friend, held my hand and apologized for what had happened before moving towards Chel. Chel simply smiled and nodded her head in response.
"Daisy! Quick! I need to meet Karsen, and you are fucking slow!" Kal yelled, prompting Daisy to dash outside.
My eyes widened slightly, and I was perplexed by what I heard. Karsen? Does she know Karsen? Who is she to him?
