Chapter 2 Who Was the Woman Last Night?

Last night, a woman had made love with him all night. Although he couldn't remember her face, her soft moans echoed in his ears.

The voice sounded a lot like Pearl's.

Pearl was stunned, her breathing becoming rapid.

'Did he recognize her?'

Pearl was at a loss when Oscar grabbed her chin, forcing her to look into his eyes.

"Pearl, don't forget our agreement," Oscar reminded her.

Pearl chuckled softly. How could she forget? For years, she had been suppressing her feelings for Oscar, reminding herself to keep her distance.

"Mr. Brown, of course, I remember." Pearl clenched her fists, enduring the pain in her heart. "I know I'll only be your secretary. Rest assured, I know what I should do."

"Well." Oscar nodded slightly, his expression softened. "Are you sure you were working last night? You weren't with me."

Pearl bit her lip. For a moment, she had the urge to tell him the truth! Perhaps, Oscar would take responsibility for her?

But she quickly dismissed the absurd idea. He never liked getting too close to her. If he found out they had a sexual relationship, he probably wouldn't let her off easily!

"Mr. Brown, I was indeed working. The company has surveillance cameras; you can have someone check," Pearl suppressed her inner pain and calmly replied.

"Understood," Oscar responded indifferently. "I suppose you wouldn't dare to break our agreement."

Pearl said nothing more, just sniffed. Inexplicably, she felt like crying again.

Their marriage was held together by a mere agreement, fragile and precarious.

Initially, Oscar had married her to fulfill his grandfather David Brown's wish.

Now, their agreement was about to expire in a few days.

Suddenly, Pearl remembered something, she clicked the news on her phone and said to Oscar, "Mr. Brown, there's one more thing."

"Haley has returned."

Upon hearing that name, Oscar's expression changed slightly.

Pearl forced a bitter smile. He did care about her after all.

"Mr. Brown, our agreement is about to expire in a few days," Pearl's voice trembled slightly as she continued. "Coincidentally, Haley is back too."

"Shouldn't we get a divorce?"

At the mention of the word "divorce", Oscar's brows furrowed deeply. He impatiently asked her to leave. "Let's discuss this later. You go to the office and prepare for the meeting."

"Alright, Mr. Brown," Pearl responded and left the room calmly.

No matter what, she would always maintain her composure and show a professional attitude.

As Pearl left the room, all her emotions collapsed in an instant. Leaning against the cold wall, tears streamed down her face.

‘Oscar, is this how it ends between us?’

At the office, Pearl realized she had left a document at home and hurried back to retrieve it.

She didn't usually make such careless mistakes, and if Oscar found out, he might get angry again.

In fact, there was a divorce agreement she had prepared three years ago at home. Perhaps, this divorce agreement would soon come into play.

At CEO's office of the Brown Group, the assistant Harold Lewis was reporting every detail of the work to Oscar.

Oscar nodded lightly and suddenly asked, "Have you checked the surveillance footage?"

"It's all checked," Harold reported promptly. "Last night, Pearl was working overtime at the office."

"Then who went to the hotel room? Did you find out?" Oscar inquired.

"We found out that Haley went to that hotel. According to the hotel staff, she was looking for you," Harold replied.

Oscar paused, his expression gradually deepening.
