8. One is desperate & one is super careless.

Being busy with the thought of who was in the painting, she paced back and forth, restless and non-existent. She lay on the bed with a thud and gazed at the ceiling. "Urggg, I hate my life," she mumbled, gritting her teeth.

Meanwhile, Aaron was busy with his office meetings back to back. But his mind was still occupied with her thoughts. What must she be doing? Restless to get the day to end, he drove to his villa. He checked his watch every passing minute and rubbed his face with his hand, frustrated. As he proceeded to continue with a heavy heart and a frown on his face, he reread the papers, hoping to understand what was written on them. Everything seemed foreign to him. The language printed on the papers seemed to float straight above his head. He clenched his jaw, frustrated by the level of distraction he was experiencing.

"Enough Aaron, focus," he mumbled to himself.

Completing all his work, he finally sighed and let out a breath of relief. He closed his laptop. The thought of meeting her made his lips curl up to a smile. His smile was not for everyone, it was only for her. Only for his Sarah. He stood up on his heels, grabbing his car keys, his cell, and lastly his coat, and marched out of his cabin.

As he walked straight to his private elevator, impatiently waiting to reach his villa. At last, he reached the last floor where his PA was already ready to tell him his schedule for tomorrow. "Cancel all the meetings for tomorrow," he commanded and left directly for the parking area.

On the way back to his mansion, he buys her favorite flowers, white tulips, and some chocolates. He knew all her preferences by heart.

Within a few minutes, he reached his mansion, parking his car at the porch. Without a second thought, he walks inside the mansion. As he enters the lounge, Sophie is found sipping her green tea with her usual smirk. She knows the damage she caused. Aaron eyes her and notices that she is not smiling as usual. His seventh sense kicks in, and he becomes alarmed that she is up to something.

Ignoring her fake smiles, he marches upstairs and knocks on Sarah's room door. She doesn't respond, which irritates him. "Sarah, unlock the damn door," he says, irritated and annoyed.

Meanwhile, Sarah is restless the whole day. Even though she hates him, she can't digest the fact that he had someone in his life before her. She feels betrayed. Sarah's life has never been easy. Her mother left her father when she was barely a year old, which has caused trust and relationship issues in her mind. Adah also ditched her, and now even her father has betrayed her and sold her to the person she hates the most. Being betrayed by everyone, her heart is even more broken. She feels insecure and burdened.

Being curled up in a corner of the room, she stared at a particular spot for hours. She flinched at the banging door, coming back to her senses. Within a blink of an eye, she found Aaron standing in front of her. His intimate personality made her shiver. His eyes focused on her small form curled up in a corner. His eyes scanned her face. He found her simply beautiful with her pouty lips. Her puffy eyes showed she had been crying. But if he asked, she would deny it.

He sighed and kneeled down at her level. Without a single word exchanged.

Scooping her in his strong arms, he lifted her effortlessly. His strong cologne hit her nostrils, causing her senses to go into a daze. She closed her eyes, feeling weak. He gently guided her to the bed, ensuring she was lying properly and covering her with the duvet. He gazed at her face with pure adoration.

Her long hair scattered on the pillow, framing her beautiful face. As he turned to leave, he heard her soft whimper. He quickly turned back to her, cupping her cheek and asking, "What happened, baby? Who made you cry? Are you hurt?" He bombarded her with questions.

She hiccuped loudly, her anxiety reaching its peak and making it difficult for her to breathe. Feeling a strong pain in her chest, she clutched her hand near her heart. Now worried, he comforted her, saying in his gruff voice, "Breathe, Sarah, breathe." He dialed his doctor's number and rubbed her back, holding her close to his chest with his other hand.

Rubbing her back, sometimes her head, he cupped her cheeks, he looked at her with pure determination and worry, "Breathe, Sarah, please breathe for me." He sounded so needy that Sarah couldn't help but stare at his face, which seemed to be blurry to her. Meanwhile, the doctor arrived. Aaron sighed in relief at his quick service, making her lie on the bed. He let the doctor do his examination. His heart beat loudly when the doctor held her hand to check her pulse. He controlled himself, being possessive of her like no one else. He looked away. He knew this was necessary. He couldn't let his possessiveness affect her health, could he?

After the whole check-up was done, the doctor turned to Aaron. "Sir, I need her blood sample." Aaron gave a small nod, but Sarah's eyes widened at his words. She was not completely dozed off, but she could see that the doctor was present, albeit blurry.

"No, please... no, I am fine," she tried to get up as she weakly spoke. Aaron swiftly accompanied her in a very soothing manner, assuring her, "Baby, it's needed," he said in a soft tone. Sarah, scared of needles, shook her head in refusal. "No, please, it's painful," she said with tears in her eyes. "Alright, alright, no one is doing your blood test. Relax, shh, calm down," he softly patted her head, making her nod in relief.

Meanwhile, the doctor said, "She is too stressed and weak. Please try to keep her happy, or this might not end well. About the blood test, we can do it anytime when she is ready. Please ensure her meals are on time," the doctor shared his point of view and left, holding a piece of paper with some prescribed medicines.

He helped her lay back, caressing her hair, and asked, "Did you have your lunch?" to which she shook her head. "Dinner?" he asked in a monotonous tone.

"No," she mumbled, making him clench his jaw. "Sarah! How can you be so careless? Don't you care about your health?" he scolded her, causing her lips to wobble again at his words. "Don't dare to scold me!" she said cutely, glaring at him with teary eyes.

Aaron ordered the maid to get some soup prepared for her. Until he held her in his arms, not having the mood to leave her even once. He inhaled her sweet fragrance that was so calming to him. Soon, the maid knocked on the door with the soup prepared in a bowl. Aaron stood up, took the meal from her, and locked the door. Sarah observed Aaron's clenched jaw and his knuckles turning white due to the force applied on his fists.

He placed the soup on the nightstand, folded his sleeves up to his elbows, and showcased his thick, veiny hands that gave her goosebumps. His grey eyes fixed on her.

"So you skipped meals? Didn't you remember what I told you?" He uttered in his gruffest voice, making her gulp nervously. "You deserve a punishment, babygirl," he said, holding her hands together and pinning them above her head. This made her gasp with fear, and tears were ready to fall from her eyes.
