Chapter 4 Ms. Jones, Welcome Home

Aaron's eyes flashed with surprise but quickly returned to normal. "Are you done talking?"

Susanna turned her head away, unwilling to argue any further.

Erica, seeing the tension between Susanna and Aaron, knew things were getting bad. She quickly interjected, "Susanna, are you in such a hurry to leave because you've found a new place to go?"

Aaron's face turned cold, his eyes scrutinizing Susanna. But Susanna had made up her mind and refused to say another word, which Aaron took as a silent admission.

"Susanna, you live in my house, eat my food, and you're with another man?"

Susanna's anger hit a new peak. She threw her pocket onto the ground, scattering its contents everywhere. "Take it back."

Aaron didn't even glance at the clothes on the ground. His eyes stayed on her. "And the clothes you're wearing, I bought those too."

Susanna gritted her teeth. "Aaron! You're shameless. I've served your family for three years, that's enough to pay for these clothes!"

She stood there, unbuttoning her shirt without a care, revealing her delicate collarbone and a hint of a curve.

Aaron's eyes grew colder as he stared at her. Finally, with a serious expression, he said, "Susanna, I never want to see you again!"

After those harsh words, he turned his back on her, his silhouette as cold as ever.

Susanna's hand stopped, a look of mockery flashing in her eyes. With a slightly sorrowful tone, she said, "From now on, I hope we never meet again!"

Erica, pretending to be regretful, said, "Come on, can't you just say something nice? Aaron isn't that petty. If you say something sweet, we can let you stay until tomorrow morning."

"No need, Ms. Jones," Susanna said with great dignity. "Save your fake concern for Aaron! I don't need it!"

She gathered the clothes from the floor, folded them, and stuffed them back into the plastic bag. Despite the summer heat, a deep chill settled inside her. Sometimes, she envied those who seemed to have all the luck. Whenever she was mistreated, she imagined her family swooping in to defend her. But every time she woke from that dream, the loneliness only grew.

As she opened the door and stepped outside, she was stunned to see a row of luxury cars parked at the gate. Among them, a long silver-gray Lincoln stood out, gleaming under the streetlights. As Susanna walked out, a dozen men in black suits lined up in a neat formation to greet her.

The leader approached Susanna and said respectfully, "Miss, we're here to take you away."

For a moment, Susanna was stunned by the scene, wondering if they had mistaken her for someone else. She couldn't believe she was the "Miss" they were referring to.

Erica, seeing this, sneered, "Susanna, what is this? The money Aaron gave you was for a stable life after the divorce, not to save face. Where did you find these extras? You're too vain, and it won't end well for you!"

Before Susanna could respond, a bodyguard stepped forward and slapped Erica, knocking her to the ground.

Erica clutched her face and screamed, "Susanna, how dare you let someone hit me! Do you know who I am? Do you know who my brother is? I'll make sure your whole family pays!"

Susanna looked at Erica's disheveled appearance and let out a smirk. "So, is your brother going to take a beating for you?"

With that, Susanna turned and followed the men in black, slipping into the long Lincoln. As the car pulled away, Aaron's furious voice rang out behind her. "Susanna, stop right there!"

Aaron watched the convoy get farther away, his pace quickening into a run. Beside him, Erica clung to his arm, looking pitiful. "Aaron, you saw that, right? Susanna actually dared to have me hit!"

Aaron ignored her completely, his eyes fixed on the disappearing cars, muttering with a complex expression, "Susanna really left."

Erica gritted her teeth in anger. "Aaron, Susanna must have found her next target. How else could she have a rich man send a limo to pick her up right after the divorce?"

"Shut up!" Aaron roared.

Erica flinched at Aaron's outburst, remaining silent, but in her mind, she thought, 'Susanna, just you wait.'

In the car, Susanna watched the streets pass by, a bitter smile on her lips. "Is this my escape?" she murmured.

Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a luxurious hotel.

Susanna stepped out, flanked by tall bodyguards in black suits. In unison, they said, "Ms. Jones, welcome home!"

The grand reception left Susanna stunned. If she hadn't seen Madison standing at the hotel entrance, she might have turned around and left immediately.

At the end of the line stood two people, one of whom was Madison.

Madison rushed up and hugged her. "Susanna, you're finally back. You must have suffered with the Abbott family! It's good that you're divorced. Your family has found you, and we can start over."

Susanna nodded, her eyes red-rimmed. "Okay," she whispered.

Madison pointed to a stern-looking man in a black suit standing nearby. "Susanna, let me introduce you. This is your oldest brother, Edward Jones."

Susanna looked at the approaching handsome man, who exuded a kingly aura that even surpassed Aaron's.

Edward Jones looked at the petite, frail girl in front of him, who seemed malnourished. His heart ached. "Susanna, you've been through a lot."

Susanna was at a loss for words. After a moment, she said awkwardly, "Hello."

Hearing her hesitant greeting made Edward feel even worse. He cautiously asked, "Is there anything you need me to do for you?"

Susanna looked confused. "Do for me?"

Edward said, "Yes, is there anything you want right now? Tell me, and I'll help you!"

Susanna lowered her eyes. "I want to go home."

Edward's hand clenched slowly. He thought, 'Home? She must mean that old house she used to live in. If we hadn't lost Susanna back then, she wouldn't have gone through so much hardship.'

At that moment, Madison grabbed Susanna's hand. "No rush. Your other brothers will be here soon. Meet them first, and then you can go back. From now on, wherever they are, that's your home."

Edward gave Madison a grateful look and respectfully said, "That's right. The private room is ready. Let's have dinner first."

Thinking about Susanna going back to that old house made Edward's heart ache, almost to the point of suffocation. He said, "Susanna, would you consider staying somewhere else?"
