Chapter 2 - Rejected and Caught

I

Too late, maybe her warning was too late as she saw Karla being jumped into by one of the werewolves. One moment after, she saw the lifeless body of Karla being thrown like a piece of bread onto the ground.

“Karla! No!” she screamed so loud while tears rushed down her eyes. She tried to have her first shift but her wolf seemed to have forsaken her so early or maybe because she was not yet completely inside of her when the attack happened.

Before she could move further, she saw Laura being attacked too by one big brown werewolf. The werewolf digs his claws into the heart of Laura, making her sizzle and die at once. Blood spurted from her body.

Screaming so loud, Gerthel ran toward Tony with the intention to help him when he too was being attacked by another werewolf. However, before she could reach Tony, a black wolf hindered her when it blocked her way and shove her stomach. She flies into the air with a ripped stomach.

Gerthel’s eyes grew big as she felt the pain in her stomach. When she landed on the ground, heaving for breath, while clutching her stomach, she noticed Tony’s lifeless body swimming in his own blood nearby. She screamed so loud.

At that instance, the biggest black wolf shifted into his human form, and there and then, Gerthel’s heart tumbled, as his scent filled her nostrils down to her lungs. Her wolf inside has been awakened. She looked at the man confused. He is her mate but why did his pack attack them and even killed the most important people in her life?

With squinting eyes, the man looked at Gerthel and proclaimed. “I, Alpha Leeno Treeton of the Blue Wave Pack, reject you, Gerthel Maurii, a hybrid, a witch and wolf as my mate! I shall have no connection with you and consider you as of this moment as dead!”

Seeing that the man moved to get hold of her, Gerthel’s reflexes swiftly avoided him and that was the moment she was waiting for. Her wolf suddenly came and she shifted into a big silver wolf. The Alpha blood of his rogue father contributed to her extraordinary size and strength. She growled so loud and from her wolf’s howling, the werewolves who attacked them suddenly stiffens and slowly bow their heads. Even Alpha Leeno stiffened and was unable to move.

They could feel the force, the power that emanates from the voice of the big silver she-wolf.

Seeing everyone’s shocked state, Gerthel’s wolf took the chance to escape. Gerthel’s wolf ran so fast, speeding off like a flash, while her heart ached for the rejection she had from her mate, who was supposed to love, cherish and protect her, instead killed the people she considered her family and wanted to harm her further.

Gerthel knew that she was being followed by the enemies. It is not therefore advisable for her to run into their farm as she might only put the lives of their farmers' families in great danger.

Instead of running back home, Gerthel in her wolf form took the opposite side. She ran faster and unstoppable. She did not even look back. All she did while in her wolf form was to run and run.

Gerthel's wolf stopped running only when she noticed that no one has been following her anymore. She was able to mislead the enemies. “But where am I?” she thought while looking around the place where her wolf is standing now. She was tired of running and was panting.

She noticed that she is still inside a forest but the premises is not familiar to her anymore. She seemed to have exited already the border.

With heightened senses, she let her eyes scan the place and sniffs for a possible human scent around. Sensing that the premises are free from any other human being or other creatures except for birds, squirrels, and most probably snakes, she shifted into her human form again. She yelped upon seeing her body in nudity after shifting. She shifted back to her wolf form and ran further looking for any possible shelter where she can be able to borrow, well actually to steal something to wear.

A few meters away and her eyes caught a glimpse of well-gated premises, inside was a house. Her wolf ran faster and then slowed down while nearing the gated house, which she learned to be a cottage house as her wolf came much nearer. While hiding in a nearby big tree, she shifted back to her human form and then slowly observed around the premises of the cottage house. The cottage house seems to be a vacation or mini farmhouse. Around it are wooden mid-high fences and some fruit-bearing trees. Seeing no one to be around, she sneaked into the wooden gate, which she opened without any difficulty.

She was amazed to see the inside of the fence. The cottage house has a mini garden beside it, with different flowering plants, it has a swing, with its ropes tied around two mango trees. There is a wooden lounge on the cottage’s small porch. The cottage house’s door is closed. She checked if it can be opened and was disappointed to learn that it is well locked. She tried the window and luckily, she saw one window, which was a bit open. She sneaked therein and got inside the cottage house. The inside of the cottage house is neat and clean. It has a small round dining table and three chairs around it and its small living room has a wooden set of sofa, and beside it is a door, which she surmised was the bedroom. She opened the door to the bedroom and saw a wooden dressing cabinet.

Gerthel sighed in disappointment when she noticed that the pieces of clothes inside the cabinet are suited for males. She chose one big white shirt which hang down past her knees when she wore it. She got one striped boxer short that she saw inside the cabinet and then a handkerchief, which she used as her belt. She looked around with the hope to find a slipper or shoes. What she saw was a big rubber slipper. She decided to use it anyway, as she has no other choice. She ran out of the cottage house thereafter.

Gerthel found herself walking along the main street after running away from the cottage house. She knew that she went too far away from their farm and plantation already and she is not familiar with all the things that she is seeing now. She walked slowly while making her eyes keenly observing her surroundings. A few meters away, she already saw a group of many people and vendors of different products. She hastened her phase of walking and mingled with the crowd.

“It seems like I am in a marketplace. Which state is this land, I am standing on now?” she thought wearily and confused.

Still in confusion, when suddenly her arms were grabbed by two men. Gerthel resisted but the two men were stronger compared to her.

“Let me go!” she screamed at them but the two men just laughed at her and dragged her. They forced her to enter a big, expensive-looking building and almost pushed her inside a luxurious room, which she thought to be an office. A middle-aged man was sitting on an executive chair behind a dark-brown painted office-wooden desk.

“What’s up men?” the middle-aged man asked with a raised eyebrow while looking at the two men and then at Gerthel.

“Boss, we found this woman wandering around. Look at her, she can be included in the auction tonight,” the man holding Gerthel’s right arm said aloud and proudly.

A sudden wide grin, crept from the middle-aged man’s lips as he looked at Gerthel again with obvious malice.
