Chapter 5

Zamyr’s POV

Safe to say that I was shocked when the door opened and my Rose came in. She stood in front of the bookshelf after she recovered from the shock seeing that the room was occupied. I initially put a book about the supernatural on the shelf. I was surprised when she chose that exact book. She was struggling to reach a blanket from the top shelf. I stood behind her and gently tugged the blanket forward so she could reach it. Even if she was surprised that she could reach it, she didn’t show it. To my surprise she didn’t go back to her room, but she climbed into the bed, right next to me. Of course she didn’t know that I was inches away from her.

When Maddie came in the next morning with breakfast she was shocked that my Rose was lying next to me. I was afraid for a moment when my mate questioned her about the male items. When Maddie told her everything in the room belongs to a family friend and used my name I was feeling strangely content. My Rose finally got to know that I exist, but still not in the sense I’d like her to believe. It was better than nothing. When they left the room I followed them.

“Maddie, push her a bit about the supernatural world. Ask her anything that has some connection from your history. It doesn’t matter what that is.”

And she did just what I asked her to do. I was shocked about my mate’s answers. She explained everything with science and religion. No matter what Maddie told her, she always refuted those ideas. I realized that she was very passionate about the topic and that surprised Maddie too. Her question about connection to the event made me frown. Why would she think something like that? I needed to ask her later about this. Being passionate about something is not a bad thing. When they started talking about summoning spirits my frown deepened. They shouldn’t play with something like this, it’s not safe. Maddie desperately wanted to prove that the supernatural world exists. I was about to question her when she ran out of the house. As soon as she was alone after she came back I didn’t waste another second and confronted her.

“What are you doing? Summoning spirits, are you out of your mind? I know you know how dangerous that is.”

“Calm down. I won’t do it, at least not in the way it’s supposed to be done. I’m doing this for you. You’ll be the spirit we summon.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Sav can’t see you and she won’t suspect anything. For her this will be real and you need her to believe in the supernatural so she’ll see you eventually. All you have to do is answer the questions with the help of the letters on the board.”

“Okay, that’s brilliant actually, but won’t she freak out too much?”

“We need to push her. You saw how she reacted earlier. No matter what I told her she said it’s science and mental illness, not reality.”

“Yes, I saw. Why were you so shocked when she reacted so fiercely?”

“I’ve never seen her like this. She’s never cared about anything related to the supernatural.”

“What’s the history behind the witch trials?”

“In short, in the medieval times, centuries ago, people in Salem were accused of being witches. Most of them were killed. Can it be true that they were witches?”

“I don’t know about witch history. I need to look into this. It might take a while, but I’ll get to the bottom of this. Why did you ask her if she’s connected to this personally?”

“She was furious about the topic. Fire was almost literally burning in her eyes. My family has a book that mentions something similar. There were other races who came to Earth. After some time the magic in their blood got so diluted that they couldn’t even see the pure blood supernatural beings. They became human over the centuries. There’s a story about this girl who had werewolf origins, but she was human. After her mate came looking for her she started being passionate then obsessed with historical facts related to werewolves. It’s described exactly the same in the book as what happened today with Sav.”

“You think she might have witch ancestors?”

“I don’t know, but it’s possible. I mean, I haven’t seen her acting like this.”

“I’ll look into this. I’m going now, but I’ll be back today for your session.”

What Maddie told me got me thinking. I need to discover this as soon as possible. We need to find a witch who’s mated to a fae. The problem is that there are not many witch-fae mates. Within minutes I was standing in the castle, looking for Cedric.

“Cedric, I need your help.”

“What’s wrong?”

“I need to find a witch as soon as possible.”

“What for? We don’t need their magic, we have our own.”

“It’s not for magic, it’s for history.”

“Look for Sandra Moss. She’s a witch.”

“Thank you Cedric.”

As soon as I had the information I needed, I teleported to her house. I quickly knocked on the door and a woman with fiery red hair opened the door.

“My King! What can I do for you? Please come in.”

“Thank you Sandra. I have a few questions about your race’s history.”

“What kind of questions?”

“Is it possible that witches left your realm and went to Earth?”

“Yes, some of them left centuries ago and never came back. Is something wrong?”

“It’s about my mate. We were concerned with her best friend about her having witch ancestors. We were wondering if that’s possible at all.”

“It’s pretty much possible, but if she doesn’t see you, the magic in her blood got too diluted over time.”

“I see. Her friend is a fae and she said that there’s a story written in one of the books her family owns about a girl with werewolf ancestors. After that girl was mated she started acting passionately and then obsessed about historical events related to werewolves.”

“I heard of something like this. It’s totally possible, but we can’t let this turn into insanity. You need to make her believe in you as fast as possible. The longer it takes the more obsessed she’ll become if she’s really a descendant of a witch. She’ll never be a hundred percent human. No matter what, witch blood with magic will always course through her veins. The mate bond triggers that gene. If she doesn’t understand what’s happening to her this ignorance will eventually tip her sanity into insanity.”

“How much time do I have?”

“One or two months depending on how much she believes in the supernatural world. If she believes in its existence you have two months, if she doesn’t, you’re lucky to have a month.”

“Oh, God! She doesn't believe in it at all. She explains everything with science and medicine.”

“You can’t give up. One month is not a short period of time. You need to push her hard. When she’s at her breaking point she’ll finally see the truth. Make her think that she’s never alone. Make her believe that her shadow is not her shadow at all, but it’s you.”

“I will push her as hard as I can. I won’t let her fall into insanity. We have a plan for tonight to push her limits.”

“That’s great. It might help if she gets in contact with a witch, who’s truly a witch and his or her blood isn’t diluted.”

“Do you know where we can find a witch on Earth?”

“Sadly most of them were hunted down, but there are still survivors.”

“So the Salem witch trials were really about witches?”

“You know about that?”

“Just briefly.”

“It was true, they were witches. They asked the coven for help, but they refused to help those who left behind their families and cut ties with them. The coven eventually sent spies to Earth who were mated to humans, but they said that barely anybody was alive. You have to look for witches in Salem or nearby. Once a witch senses the magic in her blood she’ll come to find her. No matter how diluted the magic in the blood is, a pure blooded witch can feel it. It’s the same with you. You can sense fae on Earth.”

“Thank you so much Sandra. You have no idea how much you’ve helped me.”

“Don’t thank me. She’s the future Queen and I’d like to meet her. Also the coven made a sacred vow that they’ll never abandon the witches on Earth after what happened to them. They haven’t asked for our help ever since, but this is a perfect opportunity to help them and show how much we regret not helping them when they needed us the most.”

“That’s admirable, Sandra. I have to go now.”

“Of course. If you need anything else you know where to find me.”

What Sandra said made me worried. Really worried. I had a month to make my Rose believe in my existence. I couldn’t believe that she’s a witch or at least she has the genes. When I arrived I instantly went to Maddies room.

“We need to talk.”

“What’s wrong?”

“I found out everything. She has the genes of a witch. Centuries ago some of them left their coven and came to Earth. Everything about the Salem witch trials is true. The people they murdered were really witches. We have a month to make Savannah believe in my existence and the supernatural world. Our bond activated the genes and it’s making her slowly mad. The only way to stop it is to make her believe. There are still witches on Earth who didn’t die and Sandra, the witch I contacted, suggested finding one in Salem or nearby.”

“Oh, my God! This cannot be true. My only best friend cannot become insane.”

“She won’t. We’ll make sure of it together. We have to do everything. No matter how strange, crazy and frightening it is, we have to push her hard.”

“Okay. This weekend we should make a trip to Salem. The sooner we find a witch the better.”

“I agree with you Maddie.”

“I’ll tell Sav to come so we can start. Today we’ll see how well she takes being pushed.”
