Chapter 2: Pregnancy

My heart quickened as she posed her question to me.

"I...I don't know," I stammered, my voice trembling with uncertainty.

"I think you should consider taking a pregnancy test," she suggested, her tone filled with concern.

Without wasting any time, we hurriedly left the restaurant and made a quick stop in front of the pharmacy to purchase a pregnancy test.

As soon as we arrived at her house, we headed straight to her room and entered the bathroom. The moment the test confirmed my worst fear, my world came crashing down. I was indeed pregnant.

"How did this happen, Jess? What am I supposed to do?" I asked, panic and tears welling up in my eyes.

"I'm not sure either, Prim. Does your mother have any idea about what happened with that stranger?" she asked, her worry evident.

"No, she has no clue. How can I even tell her that I had a sexual encounter with a stranger? Do you think she'll reject me?" I said, my emotions getting the better of me.

I was at a loss for what to do. I couldn't even consider terminating the pregnancy. This was my child, and I had never imagined myself being a bad mother. But I also didn't want my child to grow up without a father. I needed to find the man, whoever he was.

"I have to find him," I declared, my voice filled with determination.

Jessa was clearly taken aback by my statement. But this seemed like the only way to ensure my mother's acceptance of my pregnancy. I couldn't bear to bring shame upon my family. My mother wanted me to get married, but not under these circumstances.

"Are you absolutely sure about this, Prim?" she asked, disbelief evident in her voice.

"Yes, I'm sure," I replied, my tone serious and resolute.

"But where will you even begin to look for this man?" she inquired once again.

I pondered her question, but I knew deep down that I had to do this. Not for myself, but for the well-being of my mother and my unborn child. I placed my hand on my stomach and let out a heavy sigh. Jessa shook her head, but embraced me tightly.

Later that evening, I bid farewell to Jessa. I contemplated going back to the bar where I had encountered that man. Jessa offered to accompany me, but just then, her boyfriend Aries called her.

Frustrated and exhausted, I finally arrived at the bar after what felt like an eternity. I stepped inside, scanning the room eagerly, but the stranger was nowhere to be found.

I approached the manager and the staff, desperately describing his face, but none of them had any clue about his whereabouts.

Disheartened, I let out a heavy sigh. However, I refused to give up on finding him. I waited for hours until the bar closed, hoping he would show up. But as the night grew darker, I had no choice but to leave.

"Where are you? Where can I possibly find you?" I muttered to myself, growing increasingly frustrated.

It was late, and the thought of going home didn't appeal to me at all. I decided to text my mom,

apologizing for my earlier behavior. Perhaps returning to the hotel would give me another chance to encounter with him. Maybe the staff there knew something.

As I entered the hotel, I rushed to the front desk, eager for any information. Unfortunately, they had a strict policy of not disclosing any details about their guests. Disappointed, I realized I had no other option but to spend the night here, hoping for a miracle.

The following day, I rose from my slumber with an eagerness that couldn't be contained. Determined not to give up, I knew I had to resume my search for him. With unwavering determination, I embarked on my quest, keeping a vigilant eye on every person emerging from their rooms.

Hours passed, yet there was no sign of him. Frustration began to creep in, prompting me to venture outside. I dialed Jessa's number, hoping for some solace, but to no avail. Taking a deep breath, I tried to alleviate the heaviness weighing on my heart.

Lost in my thoughts as I strolled along the road, uncertainty clouded my mind. Would I ever lay eyes on him again? The mere possibility of never seeing him again sent a pang of sadness through my being.

Unbeknownst to me, my absence had turned me into a fool. Startled by the blaring horn of a passing car, I stumbled and narrowly avoided being struck by a sleek, black vehicle. As the car came to a halt, my eyes widened in disbelief as I recognized the man stepping out of it.

"It's you!" I exclaimed, my voice filled with determination.

"What?!" he responded, his tone dripping with arrogance.

"Do you remember the woman you spent the night with at the hotel? Well, surprise! It's me, and you're the father of my child!" I introduced myself, making sure he understood the gravity of the situation.

"Damn it!" he muttered, his face contorting into a frown.

"What?!" I retorted, my annoyance evident.

"You're just wasting my time, you idiot!" he snapped, his words laced with frustration as he retreated back to his car.

I couldn't believe the audacity of this man. He was incredibly rude, and it only fueled my determination. I tried to chase after his car as it sped away, but my efforts were in vain. However, luck was on my side as I caught a glimpse of the logo on the back of his car.

"Alfonzo?!" I exclaimed, my voice echoing in the empty street.

"Wait, I've heard that name before. It's famous, I'm sure of it," I muttered to myself, racking my brain for any recollection.

Without wasting a moment, I hailed a taxi and immediately asked the driver if he knew the exact location of the Alfonzo Company. The driver nodded, and I quickly jumped into the taxi. I prayed fervently that I would catch up with that man. He couldn't just run away and ignore his responsibilities like that.

After what felt like an eternity, we arrived at the grand entrance of the building. And there it was, his car parked in front, confirming that he was indeed inside. I took a deep breath, gathered my courage, and stepped inside. The guard initially hesitated, but I managed to convince him of the urgency of my request.

As I entered the building, I was awestruck by its sheer size and beauty. Every corner exuded elegance and sophistication. My eyes were drawn to a large photo frame, showcasing his handsome face. Perhaps, I thought, it wouldn't be so bad if my son inherited his good looks.

"Mr. Diego Alfonzo?" I uttered, my voice filled with a mix of disbelief and determination.

"He's the CEO of this company?" I whispered to myself, amazed at the unexpected turn of events.
