Chapter 6 Isn’t the Kid His?

Sophia's beautiful forehead was covered in fine sweat. Her weak body was as hot as a furnace, and she repeated while tightly biting her beautiful red lips, "Don't touch me!"

Before she could finish speaking, the girl fainted.

When she woke up again, she was already in the hospital, and sitting by her bedside was her former boyfriend, Zach.

He sat on the chair with a resentful look, his eyes filled with indescribable sadness.

"You're awake?" he asked leisurely as Sophia opened her eyes.

Sophia supported her forehead and sat up slightly. Her pretty face regained its normal color. Leaning against the headboard, she glanced at her clothes, perfectly intact...

Zach watched her subtle movements and said in a deep voice, "I went to your house."

"We broke up." Before Zach could finish speaking, Sophia lifted her head and met his shocked eyes. "We should never see each other again."

Zach chuckled self-deprecatingly. "So, you treated me like a fool all these years?"

"I didn't," Sophia shook her head.

Zach angrily stood up. "Then why did you hide for six years without coming back? What did I do wrong for you to break up with me? Did you ever love me?"

Sophia tightly held the blanket and remained silent for a long time before slowly speaking. "I loved you before, but everything has changed now. You can also feel that I no longer need you, so let's break up."

"Is it because of him?" Zach suppressed his jealousy and questioned.

"Him?" Sophia was taken aback.

Zach knew Sophia's character and without saying a word, he took out a large box and opened it. The box was filled with money.

"What do you mean by this?" Sophia frowned.

"Leave him, return the child, and come with me," Zach said seriously.

Sophia was confused by his sudden words. She thought, 'Didn't I already make it clear just now? Can't he understand?'

"Sophia, Mr. Anderson is a married man with a family now. You shouldn't waste the rest of your life on him. If you can't bear to part with his child, I..." Zach's voice trailed off. Undoubtedly, he couldn't accept a stranger's child.

Complicated and painful thoughts swirled in Zach's mind as he stared at the face he had missed for over two thousand nights. It took him a long time to make up his mind. "If you can't bear to part with the child, I can help you raise him. But you, can't leave me anymore."

"Who told you that Liam is Mr. Anderson's child?" Sophia asked, puzzled.

"Isn't he? Weren't you with him..." Zach hesitated.

Sophia pushed aside the blanket, got out of bed, and didn't even glance at the money on the table. She immediately closed her suitcase. "I'll raise my child myself. We're already done. Don't come looking for me anymore. Thank you for saving me last night."

Sophia turned and left.

This relationship had ended.

She didn't need anyone's pity, and no one had the right to take Liam away from her.

Sophia walked quickly, unable to hear what Zach said to her from behind. As soon as she left the hospital, she went straight to Johnson Villa to find Liam.

Jessica wasn't home, and Taylor was also absent. The servants at Johnson Villa were busy dealing with the warehouse Liam had burned. When Sophia came looking for him, few of them paid her any attention. They all thought she was a curious resident from the neighborhood.

Relieved to find out that Liam had run away, Sophia let out a sigh of relief, but then became anxious. Liam was so young and unfamiliar with the area. Where could he have escaped to?

Sophia borrowed a passerby's phone and dialed Liam's number. It didn't take long for it to connect. A very gentle female voice came through. Sophia couldn't help but glance at the phone number to confirm that it was indeed Liam.

"Hello, mommy?" a cute voice suddenly sounded from the phone.

Sophia's heart filled with joy. "Liam, where are you?"

"I am at a nice old lady's house," Liam's voice was lively and cheerful.

Sophia said, "What old lady? Tell me the exact location, I'll come and pick you up."

"I'm in the Viscton district. Mommy, don't worry. The old lady is very nice to me. She's not home right now, she'd be very sad if you take me away," Liam explained in a soft voice, his voice sounding adorable.

Relieved to know that the person was a good person, Sophia let out a sigh of relief. "Alright then, you stay there for a few days. I'll come pick you up once I find a job."

"Okay!" Liam obediently nodded.

Sophia returned the phone to the passerby, said thank you, and left. Her luggage and phone were left at the hotel, but fortunately, Jessica's people had left after she ran away. Sophia smoothly retrieved her belongings and checked out.

"Have you heard? Mr. Hastings was attacked last night."

"Oh my, who did it? Such audacity!"

"The surveillance was deleted by Mr. Hastings. I'm not sure who it was, but he left very angry. I suspect the assailant is dangerous!"

Sophia's hands trembled as she held the returned deposit. The front desk staff smiled and said, "Miss, you almost dropped your money." "Oh," Sophia responded, grabbed her luggage, and hurriedly left.

She had two purposes for coming to Woerek this time: one was to find out the identity of the man from six years ago, and the other was to interview for the planner position at Aadelha Group, which she had applied for half a month ago.

She rented a house near Aadelha Group. In the afternoon, Sophia changed her clothes and went for the interview. Everything went smoothly, but Sophia didn't notice that someone had already set their sights on her.

In the CEO's office, David had been holding back his laughter all morning. Looking at Victor, who was practically crumpling Sophia's resume into a ball, he almost couldn't contain himself.

This woman named Sophia was really something! It would have been one thing if she had beaten up Victor and escaped, but now she dared to come to their company to apply for a job!

Was she trying to embarrass Victor because he couldn't publicly disclose what happened last night?

"Mr. Hastings, should I handle her?" David asked.

Victor's eyes darkened. He coldly threw the resume into the trash can and replied, "No need."

"Then..." David was puzzled.

Victor said, "Since she's here, we have no reason to let her go. However, the planner position is indeed not suitable for her. Tell the HR department to have her start from the grassroots level in the warehouse, and then..."

Victor chuckled.

Sophia, who had been waiting for news, was feeling very depressed when she found out that she was hired as a warehouse worker.

The manager was afraid that Sophia would refuse the job, so he specifically comforted her. "The upper management in our company all started from the grassroots level. Ms. Johnson, with your qualifications, once you're in our company, you'll quickly become a regular employee with a raise and promotion. And our salary is high, double that of other companies. Stay with us. We need talent like you!"
