Chapter 8 There is a new child in the family

Zach had waited for Sophia for six years, and he couldn't give up now. He knew exactly what kind of person Paul was.

"Uncle Victor, she's different from other girls. I think she must have her reasons for leaving. She's the only girl I've ever loved in my life. Please don't say those things about her," Zach said with determination.

A strange expression appeared in Victor's bright eyes. Under Zach's persistent request, he spoke in a deep voice, "I'll help you, but not because of you. It just so happens that I have a grudge against Paul. Deal with your father on your own."

"Thank you, Uncle Victor," Zach was extremely happy. He had always resented his father for befriending Victor, who was almost the same age as him. It bothered Zach for many years, and with Jessica's influence, he had grown to despise Victor. And now, Victor was actually willing to keep Sophia's secret from him...

Zach was so touched!

He silently vowed to repay Victor in the future. Whoever dared to speak ill of his uncle, he would take care of them!

The phone rang, and Victor glanced at the caller ID on the screen before leaving the hospital room.

"Victor, what's going on with Zach?" It was Zach's father, Stefan Carter, calling.

"He's not seriously injured. You don't need to worry," Victor said.

"That's good," Stefan sounded somewhat displeased. "What's been going on with Zach lately? He's not focusing on his work at the company, and why did he get into a fight with Paul?"

Victor coldly replied, "Zach is young and impulsive. You don't need to pay attention to him."

After hanging up the phone, Victor left the hospital.

David reported his work to Mr. Hastings as usual. "Mr. Hastings, Paul has fled Woerek for safety."

Victor, sitting in the backseat of Bentley, paused in his motion of flipping through the files.

David hurriedly said, "Mr. Hastings, don't worry. Recently, he wouldn't dare to come back, let alone sue Mr. Carter."

Victor nodded but did not speak. The cancellation of the engagement banquet had a great impact on his company, and all major media were monitoring his every move. At this time, if he suppressed Paul too harshly, it would easily arouse suspicion.

Paul ran away, but his subordinate, Sophia, stayed behind. Before Paul returned, Victor would treat his accomplice well.

"Be careful not to kill Sophia," Victor said.

David nodded and asked where Victor wanted to go.

"Let's go home," Victor lazily replied.

The car slowly drove into Lilac Villa. The first person to notice Victor's return was Sam, who ran upstairs in a hurry. "Mrs. Hastings, Mr. Hastings is back."

Carolyn, who was playing with Liam with building blocks, became serious when she heard Victor's name. She turned her back to Sam and said, "What is he back for? Tell him to get lost and not make me angry."

"Mrs. Hastings, don't get angry. Mr. Hastings is your child," Sam said sympathetically.

Liam kept nodding. "Yeah, grandma, even though your son is useless, you shouldn't get too angry. Men can't give birth to children anyway."

Carolyn looked at Liam's agile little mouth and adorable face and liked him a lot. An instant smile appeared on her gloomy face. "Liam is right. You go play in the room. I'll be right back."

Carolyn turned and went downstairs. Victor was sitting on the sofa in the living room, drinking coffee. She walked over and sternly questioned, "How dare you come back? Where is your wife? Where is my grandson? Didn't you hear what I said before?"

"Mom, stop nagging me all the time. If you really like kids, I can open a kindergarten for you. How about that?" Victor didn't even lift his head and continued to read the documents.

Carolyn, seeing that Victor completely disregarded her words, angrily snatched the documents away and threw them on the table. "Open a kindergarten? My friends already have three grandchildren this year. And you? What's the use of making so much money? A capable man should have both sons and daughters!"

Victor acted as if he didn't hear anything.

Carolyn scolded him on the side for half an hour straight, but Victor didn't say a word and even managed to finish reading a thick planning proposal. Carolyn was about to continue when she heard a loud noise from upstairs. Worried, she looked upstairs and asked Sam, "What was that sound upstairs?"

"It should be a vase breaking. I'll go check it out." Sam turned to leave.

Worried that Liam might get hurt, Carolyn hurried upstairs faster than Sam.

Victor raised an eyebrow, watching all of this, and asked, "Did my cousin bring her child over?"

The maid answered, "No. Mrs. Hastings accidentally hit a child on the roadside a few days ago. The child's parents happened to be away on a business trip, so Mrs. Hastings let the child stay here temporarily."

Victor understood immediately. He had been wondering why the engagement had been called off, knowing his mother's character, she would definitely not peacefully stay at home unless there was another child in the house.

'Well, this is actually good. At least this child can attract her attention.'

...

After working for two days at Aadelha Group, Sophia realized she had been deceived and was about to go find Emily when Jessica appeared. Jessica blocked the warehouse door and casually closed it.

Sophia's tired face instantly became alert. "What are you doing here?"

"Shouldn't I be the one asking that? Have you considered leaving Woerek?" Jessica asked.

"Why should I listen to you?" Sophia said.

"Your son is at my house, so you have to listen to me!" Jessica threatened her.

Sophia laughed. "Liam has already left Johnson Villa, you can't threaten me."

Jessica didn't expect Sophia to be so shameless, she was somewhat annoyed. "You ruined my marriage, what else do you want?"

"You're talking nonsense! It was clearly you who ruined my life," Sophia fearlessly looked at Jessica's angry face and smiled. "Woerek doesn't belong to you. Whether I stay or leave, it has nothing to do with you!"

"Sophia, you're so bold now! If it wasn't for my mother bringing you home back then, you would have died a long time ago. You dare to complain? You really have no shame." Jessica was provoked by Sophia.

Sophia sneered. Just because she was taken in, did that mean she had to sacrifice her chastity and future for them?

"I cut off ties with your family six years ago. I don't provoke you, and you'd better not provoke me either. I still remember when you hit Liam. If something like that happens again, don't blame me for not being kind to you!"

"Huh, our family dog that was raised here is starting to bite people. I'd like to see what you're capable of!" After saying that, Jessica walked towards the opposite warehouse and picked up the data report that Sophia had been organizing all night.

Sophia hurriedly ran over. "Give it back to me!"

"Do you want it?" Jessica tore up the data report right in front of her!

Sophia was very angry, her expression cold. "You're going too far!"
