Chapter 5
He looked at me with a puzzled expression and asked, "What are you doing?!"
I was caught off guard by his question, momentarily at a loss for words. However, I knew I had to come up with a plausible explanation before any doubts crept into Norman's mind.
"I brought him here to rest, why?" I replied.
"I know, but why are you holding a sword?" he inquired.
"I was simply admiring it and decided to pick it up. I've always dreamed of becoming a skilled fighter, but alas, I'm just a lowly omega," I explained, concealing my true motives.
Norman let out a sigh and approached me with a calm expression.
"Don't underestimate yourself, Amelia. You can join the pack training sessions, so you can defend yourself in any situation," Norman reassured me.
"Thank you, Norman, I'll go ahead now". I expressed my gratitude before bidding him farewell.
As I made my way down the corridor, I encountered Elissa. Despite her initial impression of me, I greeted her with a smile. Upon reaching my room, I lay down on my small bed, staring up at the ceiling. The thought of what would have happened if Norman had caught me in that compromising position lingered in my mind.
My carefully laid out plan would have been foiled. I resolved to be more cautious in the future and keep my emotions in check.
I let out a sigh and whispered to myself, "That was a close call."
Taking a moment to compose myself, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Unbeknownst to me, tears began to trickle down my cheeks as I drifted off to sleep.
The following morning, I was awakened by a gentle knock on the door. Hastily, I got out of bed and made my way to answer it. As I swung open the door, I was greeted by the sight of Alpha Damien's incredibly handsome face and a stunning bouquet of flowers in his hands. His smile was as sweet as the flowers he held.
"I wanted to express my gratitude for your assistance last night," he said, his smile never faltering.
"No need for thanks, Alpha. It's my pleasure to help, especially since I live here," I replied, returning his smile.
"Regardless, I appreciate it," he insisted.
Returning his smile, I graciously accepted the flower he offered. The delight in his eyes was unmistakable. He invited me to join him for a morning outing, and I bid him farewell to get ready.
Suddenly, I playfully removed my clothes, causing a look of shock to cross his face. With a sweet smile, I approached him, but he instinctively took a step back, causing me to laugh at his reaction.
"Why do you seem frightened? Didn't you like what you saw?" I teased, our eyes locked in a seductive gaze.
"Get dressed, Amelia, and we'll grab something to eat," Alpha calmly replied.
As I pondered my next move, a smirk played on my lips. I knew deep down that he was only pretending, that he didn't truly desire me. It was unbelievable that he didn't covet my body. But I saw this as an opportunity for revenge, a chance to play with his heart and tame him effortlessly.
With a seductive tone, I suggested, "How about indulging in me?"
He responded with a smile, "Choose me as your mate first, and then we can explore that realm."
"I'll wait for you here."
Without hesitation, I swiftly closed the door and faced myself in the mirror. I reminded myself of my purpose here, which was to avenge my parents' merciless deaths at the hands of Alpha Damien. I straightened my posture, washed my face, and dried it with a towel. My resolve grew stronger, and I refused to let my own emotions deceive me. I wouldn't be swayed by his angelic charm.
Moments later, I emerged from the bathroom, only to find Alpha Damien leaning against the opposite wall outside. Surprised, I met his gaze.
"Shall we go?" he asked, a smile still on his face.
I attempted to smile back, and together, we walked down the corridor. He invited me to the training area while watching the pack training , and I nodded, accompanying him towards our destination.
"I never expected to find my mate, but when you arrived, my life gained a new purpose. Despite the challenges I faced in protecting the Bloody Knight pack, you brought meaning back into my existence. I hope that one day, you'll agree to be my Luna," he confessed.
His words pained me. I didn't know how to respond. I couldn't deny that his words softened my heart, but my anger towards him still prevailed. I constantly reminded myself that the man standing before me now must pay for his sins. I couldn't allow myself to love him, for he was the one who ruthlessly took my parents away from me almost a decade ago.
Norman's eyes widened in shock as he shouted, "The rogues are attacking, Alpha!"
Grabbing my hand, he led me towards a hidden wall. With a swift movement, the wall opened, and we entered. My mind raced with questions. Was he planning to abandon his pack and leave them to fend for themselves?
"Stay here, I'll be back," he instructed firmly.
"Wait, Alpha!" I called out, but he disappeared as the wall closed behind him.
My thoughts were consumed by worry. I never expected him to shield me like that. Despite knowing, I shouldn't, I couldn't help but fear for his safety.
Restlessly, I paced back and forth, waiting for his return. Anxious thoughts clouded my mind. Why was I feeling this way? Frustrated, I pounded my fist against the wall until it bled. The conflicting emotions were overwhelming.
Abruptly, the wall opened, revealing his concerned face.
"What happened to you?!" he exclaimed, noticing my injured hand.
Before I could respond, darkness enveloped me, and I awoke in a dimly lit room. My heart raced as I found myself face to face with Alpha Damien, his demon laugh sending chills down my spine. I couldn't believe my eyes as I witnessed his demonic visage for the second time. Filled with fury, I couldn't contain my outburst.
