Chapter 2 The Gambler

Desire, how stimulating and profound it was.

Desire, how mysterious and captivating it was.

Jackson was exhausted, allowing Lillian to sit on top of him.

Lillian lightly bit her lip, moving up and down on Jackson's body, a scene that left Jackson in a daze.

"She is like a beautiful flower. At this moment, it is blooming on my body." Jackson said

Just as the pleasure of lovemaking was about to reach its peak, Lillian's mind wandered. She recalled the night before the blizzard fourteen years ago, when she first met Jackson.

Fourteen years ago, on that day, the sky was grim and cold, with an austere grey-and-white palette enveloping the outdoors. Even the typically striking orange-red duplex houses in the community had lost their luster. The impending blizzard transformed the entire world into the still frames of a black-and-white film.

It was on this day when the north wind howled.

Bob Young was a gambler who had lost everything.

No, he wasn't completely empty-handed. Bob still had a home to shelter in, with his wife, Mary Garcia, and two children. At this moment, Mary was lying on the sofa, knitting. The old television in the house could no longer play any programs, the screen flickering with white snowflakes, making a crackling sound. The pitiful TV had completely lost its function, now used as a lamp.

Mary was engrossed in listening to the sound coming from an even older radio. Her favorite content was the weather forecast, as it determined whether she needed to go out early tomorrow for groceries or avoid a certain period of bad weather.

"Tonight, there will be a blizzard in various regions across the country. Citizens are advised to travel safely." The weather forecast on the radio rang on time.

Ten-year-old Lillian was making pancakes for Bob. Unfortunately, she searched the entire kitchen but couldn't find the honey needed for the final step of making pancakes. She was prepared to go to the convenience store two blocks away to buy it.

"Mom, can I borrow the umbrella? I'm going to the convenience store to buy some honey," Lillian asked softly. In this house, her status was very low because she was not a "native" of this house.

"No, Lillian. Did you hear the voice on the radio clearly? It's snow, not rain."

Lillian opened the door, looking at the grayish-white sky. She realizied that the blizzard was coming and gave up the idea of going out.

"Alright," Lillian said helplessly.

Mary didn't care about Lillian's disappointment. She joyfully looked at the knitted sweater in her hands, the one she was making for her eldest son, Max Young.

At that moment, Bob staggered into the house.

He had drunk himself into a stupor at the casino with expensive red wine, as if he could escape reality that way.

Bob played Texas Hold'em at the casino, a card game based on the size of the points. He was fortunate today, and with his pockets full of cash on payday, he was very confident. After doubling his existing assets at the gambling table, he decided to call it a day and return home.

Just as Bob was about to leave the casino, a enchanting blonde dealer caught his eye, making him feel that leaving would mark him as a coward and a failure.

Of course, that wasn't the main reason that made Bob decide to return to the gambling table; it was a glass of Romanée-Conti, a fine wine that he had never tasted.

The sexy female dealer pushed the wine glass in front of Bob with her delicate hands. Just as he was about to raise the glass, the blonde lady leaned over, using her ample bosom to block the rim of the glass.
