Chapter 2 A Wonderful Fate

A few seconds later, Brooklyn's legs moved mechanically toward the crowd.

'Sebastian in an ambulance? What happened? Is he sick or hurt? Is it serious?' she pondered.

Brooklyn was in a daze, but she suddenly stopped when she reached the stairwell.

"Damn it, why do I care if he's sick? We've been apart for so long, I don't love him like I used to. It'd be better if he just died." Brooklyn muttered under her breath as she walked toward her office.

But she hadn't gone far before she stopped again and turned back toward the stairs.

"Whatever, he's still my husband. I'll just take a look." Brooklyn mumbled as she walked downstairs.

Outside the emergency room, Brooklyn pushed through the crowd to peer through the glass.

A very handsome man was half-lying on the hospital bed, being examined by George Clark. Sebastian's face was stern, with a slight sheen of sweat on his forehead, and his eye twitched occasionally, clearly enduring intense pain.

"Mr. Clark, is he okay yet? What's wrong with him? Hurry up, I'm so worried."

A very beautiful girl was leaning over Sebastian's bed, crying and looking at George with a voice full of concern.

This girl was Megan, who used to be Brooklyn's best friend. But after finding out Brooklyn married Sebastian, Megan had stolen her husband!

"Can you shut your mouth and stop bothering Mr. Clark?" Sebastian glared coldly at Megan, who quickly fell silent.

Brooklyn saw this scene from outside the room and a cold smile appeared on her lips.

"Slut, you call yourself an actor? You've been crying for half an hour without shedding a single tear. Your acting skills are really terrible." she muttered a complaint and turned to leave.

Just as she turned, Sebastian's gaze shifted to the window.

"That back looks like Brooklyn's. Could it be her?" he pondered.

After leaving the emergency room, Brooklyn returned to her office. George was highly skilled in medicine, and with him there, no matter what illness Sebastian had, there was a good chance they could save him.

Her colleagues were surprised to see Brooklyn return.

A doctor asked curiously, "Dr. Mitchell, I heard that big star Megan is here at the hospital. Didn't you go see her?"

Brooklyn kept her head down, looking at a medical record, and replied indifferently, "I'm not interested in celebrities."

The doctor fell silent, and a nurse jumped in with a smile, "Dr. Mitchell, do you think Sebastian is as handsome as he looks in the magazines?"

"I'm not interested in handsome men either." Brooklyn answered flatly.

The nurse's smile faltered, and she asked reluctantly, "Then Dr. Mitchell, what are you interested in?"

Brooklyn's lips curled into a smile. She looked up at the nurse and said, "If Sebastian let me operate on him, I'd be very interested. After all, it's not every day you get a chance to stab him."

Though Brooklyn was joking, none of her colleagues laughed. Instead, they felt a strange chill. It seemed like Brooklyn wasn't joking; she really wanted to stab Sebastian.

Suddenly, Brooklyn's phone rang. It was George. "Brooklyn, get to the emergency room right away. We need you to treat Mr. Kingsley."

George's urgent voice came through the phone.

Brooklyn's heart skipped a beat. Even George couldn't handle it?

She quickly asked, "George, what's wrong with Sebastian? Lung cancer? Liver cancer? Pancreatic cancer? Brain cancer? Could it be testicular cancer? Do you need me to remove it?"

Her colleagues shivered at Brooklyn's questions.

George was silent for two seconds before suddenly roaring, "Mr. Kingsley is the most respected patient in our hospital. How could you curse him with cancer? He merely has a simple stomach bleed!"

Brooklyn's eyes flashed with disappointment upon hearing it was just a stomach bleed. "Such a minor issue needs my help? Rich people are really hard to understand."

Brooklyn pouted and headed to the emergency room. Her treatment fees weren't cheap, but for someone like Sebastian, it was nothing.

When Brooklyn arrived outside the room, George had already cleared out the doctors and nurses, but some reporters remained.

Megan stood in front of the reporters, looking very sad. "It's all my fault for being so busy with filming that I neglected Sebastian's diet, causing his stomach bleed and hospitalization. I'm a sinner, I've let everyone down."

Megan cried pitifully, but Brooklyn watched from a distance, a look of disgust in her eyes.

"Move aside, I'm here to treat Sebastian." Brooklyn coldly pushed past the reporters and walked straight into the room, ignoring Megan.

Megan's face turned pale, and a flash of resentment appeared in her eyes, but she didn't dare show it in front of the reporters.

"Sorry, folks, today's interview ends here. Please don't interfere with Sebastian's treatment."

Megan signaled her assistant to clear the reporters out of the hospital.

Once the reporters were gone, Megan dropped her act. "Brooklyn, what are you doing here? Are you trying to get close to Sebastian under the guise of treating him?"

Brooklyn ignored Megan's accusations, her eyes fixed on Sebastian.

While Sebastian, clutching his stomach, looked at Brooklyn with a stern gaze, creating a tense atmosphere in the room.

George, unaware of their relationship, introduced them, "Mr. Kingsley, this is our best doctor, Dr. Mitchell. She will be in charge of your treatment."

As soon as George finished speaking, three different voices simultaneously said the same thing. "I don't agree."

Brooklyn, Sebastian, and Megan were all stunned.

George looked awkwardly at Sebastian. "If Mr. Kingsley doesn't want Dr. Mitchell to treat you, I can find someone else..."

Before George could finish, Sebastian's brow furrowed as Brooklyn's hand had already touched his stomach.
