Chapter 5 Prank
Brooklyn climbed the stairs to her office, determined to avoid any more run-ins with Megan.
Megan was undeniably attractive and had a knack for using her tears to manipulate men.
But Brooklyn was different. No one, not even Sebastian, would ever see her cry.
When Brooklyn returned to the office, she found that all the doctors and nurses had gathered around her, and every face was filled with curiosity and excitement.
"Dr. Mitchell, we heard you're now Sebastian's personal physician. Did you finish his check-up?"
"Did he wear cologne? What did it smell like?"
"Does he have a six-pack? How did it feel? Was it firm?"
"Dr. Mitchell, did you happen to check his prostate too?"
Brooklyn's mouth twitched as she listened to her colleagues' increasingly inappropriate questions.
The questions became more and more explicit, with someone even asking how long Sebastian could last in bed.
As the wealthiest and most powerful man in Aucester, Sebastian wasn't a celebrity, but his private life still intrigued many.
Brooklyn knew the answers to all these questions, but why should she reveal them? She definitely wouldn't say anything. Some things were meant to rot forever in the abyss, like weeds.
She replied. "Alright, guys. Curb your curiosity. I just did a routine check-up. I didn't touch his abs or his crotch."
Her colleagues' faces fell with disappointment.
"What a shame. Mr. Clark should have sent me. It's not every day you get such an opportunity. Even in a nightclub, you wouldn't get to touch a guy like that." One of the female doctors sighed wistfully.
Brooklyn rolled her eyes, ignoring the gossiping colleagues. She opened a patient file on her desk, but her phone rang before she could start reading.
It was George calling. Brooklyn assumed he wanted to discuss Sebastian's treatment, but instead, George was yelling at her to get to his office immediately.
Brooklyn hung up, puzzled. She suspected it had something to do with Sebastian, but she couldn't think of any mistakes she had made.
"Dr. Mitchell, what's going on? Why does Mr. Clark want to see you?" Her colleagues looked at her with concern.
"No idea. I'll go find out. But it looks like I'm in for a scolding." Brooklyn shrugged; she didn't mind being scolded. After all, her medical expertise was well-recognized, and George wouldn't fire her over a minor mistake. Besides, she still didn't know what mistake she had supposedly made.
"Mr. Clark, what's the matter?" Brooklyn asked as she entered George's office.
George's face was stern as he reprimanded her. "Dr. Mitchell, I can tell you know Sebastian and Megan. I don't care about your personal relationships, but you need to uphold basic professional conduct."
Brooklyn was even more confused. What did this have to do with professional conduct?
Seeing her confusion, George continued, "You've been reported. Mr. Kingsley said you disrespected the patient."
Brooklyn's eyes widened in disbelief. "I just said his abs felt nice. Did he really have to file a complaint? Can't he take a joke?"
George's eye twitched with irritation. "That's not what I'm talking about."
Brooklyn was even more perplexed. "Then what are you talking about? Is it because I slapped Megan in the stairwell? How did he find out? It must have been that bitch Megan who told him."
George's eyes nearly popped out of his head. He pointed a trembling finger at Brooklyn. "You slapped Megan?"
Brooklyn shrugged. "Yeah, she insulted me and tried to steal my ring."
George rushed to the door, checked the hallway to make sure no one was listening, and then closed the door. "How could you hit someone? You're a doctor! You can't do that!"
George felt like he was about to explode.
Brooklyn looked at him, feeling wronged. "It was self-defense! You know how jealous she is. It's normal for a doctor to have physical contact with a patient, but she wanted to hit me over it."
George covered his face in frustration. If Megan reported this to Sebastian, he didn't know how he would protect Brooklyn or his own position as the hospital director.
