Chapter 6 The Annoying Man
Brooklyn finally realized that George wasn't looking for her because of Megan.
"Mr. Clark, what's going on? Why is Sebastian complaining about me?" Brooklyn looked at George, puzzled.
George, clearly not in the mood for a chat, waved his hand irritably and said, "Sebastian says he feels a bit feverish, but you didn't take his temperature."
"He's feverish? No way. I checked him, and he was perfectly fine." Brooklyn muttered to herself, feeling like Sebastian was just messing with her.
George shouted, "Whatever the case, go to Sebastian's room right now and check him thoroughly. Don't make any mistakes! And see if Megan has been talking to him."
He was starting to panic. He wasn't thinking about protecting Brooklyn, the genius doctor, anymore. He just wanted to keep his job.
"Alright, Mr. Clark, I understand. I'll go check on him now." Brooklyn stormed towards Sebastian's hospital room, not believing that he had a fever. The inexplicable scolding she received had left her feeling extremely frustrated and angry.
When Brooklyn entered Sebastian's room, she found him lying in bed, reading a book.
Sebastian raised an eyebrow when he saw her and said coolly, "You're here, Dr. Mitchell. Take my temperature, please."
Brooklyn, with a stern face, picked up the digital thermometer from the table and pointed it at Sebastian's forehead.
The thermometer read 96.8 degrees Fahrenheit.
Brooklyn was now certain that this jerk was deliberately messing with her. She wished the thermometer in her hand could turn into a real gun so she could shoot him.
"What are you trying to do? Do you think it's fun to mess with me?" Brooklyn glared at Sebastian, seething with anger.
Sebastian put down his book and looked at Brooklyn calmly. "I'm thirsty."
Brooklyn was momentarily stunned, then her anger flared up again. She gritted her teeth and said, "I'm a doctor, not your servant. Besides, you have a stomach bleed, not paralysis. Can't you get your own water?"
However, Sebastian lay back on the bed and pointed at the water jug. "I've already spoken to Mr. Clark. For the next few days, you're assigned to me exclusively. Your colleagues will cover your other duties. As your employer, can you get me a glass of water?"
Brooklyn couldn't believe George had agreed to such an absurd request.
"Damn capitalist." She muttered under her breath, then brought Sebastian a glass of water.
After drinking, Sebastian looked at Brooklyn. "Why are you just standing there? Wipe my mouth."
"Sebastian, don't push it. I'm your doctor, not your maid!" Brooklyn finally snapped.
But Sebastian, unfazed by her outburst, calmly picked up his phone and started dialing. "Mr. Clark, Dr. Mitchell, she..."
Brooklyn quickly grabbed the phone from Sebastian and hung up. "Fine, you win. I'll wipe your mouth."
Brooklyn gritted her teeth and wiped the water from around Sebastian's mouth with a tissue.
'If there was sandpaper in this room, I'd use it to scrub your mouth clean.' She cursed silently, then threw the tissue in the trash and looked at Sebastian.
"Mr. Kingsley, is there anything else?" Brooklyn asked coldly.
Sebastian tilted his head, thought for a moment, and then nodded. "Actually, there is. You made me upset earlier. Tell me a joke. If you make me laugh, I won't file a complaint."
Brooklyn wanted to dump the trash can over Sebastian's head. But the thought of losing her job made her hold back.
"A joke? I do have one. Our hospital had a medical conference recently to discuss new surgical techniques. One doctor proposed a new method for removing tonsils. It shocked and impressed everyone, calling it a revolution in medical history."
Brooklyn paused, seeing Sebastian frown.
Sebastian instinctively touched his neck, asking, "Even though I'm not a doctor, I know tonsil removal isn't that difficult. Why would it be revolutionary?"
Brooklyn replied coolly, "Because he started the incision from the rectum."
Sebastian's eye twitched, and his mouth twitched slightly. He looked like he wanted to laugh but was holding it in.
Three minutes later, hetook a deep breath and said calmly, "Sorry, Dr. Mitchell, that joke wasn't funny at all."
Brooklyn clenched her fists. Did he really think she didn't notice him holding back laughter?
"Sorry, that's the only joke I know. I can't think of any other way to make you happy." Brooklyn said flatly. She had laughed for a long time when she first heard that joke.
She thought, 'Should I find more jokes online and make this jerk hold back his laughter until he bursts?'
As Brooklyn pondered, Sebastian suddenly spoke. "I do have a way to make me happy quickly."
Sebastian's lips curled into a mischievous smile as he looked at Brooklyn.
"How?" Brooklyn asked, and the next moment, Sebastian grabbed her hand and pulled her close.
In the next second, Sebastian's lips were on hers.
