Chapter 4 Never Come Back

Riley furrowed her brows, unsure of how to communicate with her.

Harper and the two children also got out of the car at this point.

After seeing the little girl not speak for a while, Landon and Winston exchanged puzzled glances.

She was so cute, but why had she not said a word for so long? Could she be mute?

The same thought flashed through Riley's mind. Could this little girl be mute?

Thinking of this possibility, she spoke softly, "Give your hand to me, okay?"

As she said this, she reached out her hand toward the little girl.

The girl looked at her timidly, and upon hearing her voice, her expression softened slightly.

After hesitating for a long time, she tentatively reached out her hand toward Riley.

The little girl's body was soft and emitted a milky scent. Riley felt a tenderness in her heart and couldn't help but think of the deceased child. If she had grown up well, she would be this age by now! At the thought of this, Riley's eyes couldn't help but reveal a touch of pity and regret.

Although the little girl knew she shouldn't approach strangers, for some reason, she felt a desire to be close to Riley. And she thought this auntie was really beautiful.

Harper couldn't help but exclaim when she saw this scene, "This little girl is so exquisite, her looks are on par with our two precious kids!"

After Riley finished checking, she nodded and said, "I think she must have gotten separated from her family. Let's take her to the police station and see if we can contact her family."

Just as she finished speaking, the little girl suddenly tugged on her. Riley looked at her perplexed.

Obviously, the little girl was resistant to her suggestion. Seeing the pitiful look on the little girl's face, Riley felt her heart shatter.

"We don't have to go to the police station."

She squatted down and negotiated with the little girl, "Do you have your mom and dad's phone number? I can call them to come pick you up."

After listening, the little girl stopped shaking her head and her beautiful eyes dimmed.

After a while of waiting for her response, Riley thought she didn't understand, and was preparing to firmly send her to the police station when the little girl moved again.

Riley watched as she took out a pen and a sticky note from her pocket, and wrote a series of numbers on it, followed by the word "Daddy", before handing the sticky note to her.

Riley reached out and took it, then dialed the little girl's father's number according to the digits on the note.

"She really is a little mute."

Landon and Winston muttered quietly.

Riley paused and glanced at her two sons, warning, "You're not allowed to say that about the girl."

The two children immediately stood up straight, smiling at the little girl with guilt in their hearts.

The little girl glanced at them and instinctively leaned towards Riley, her little hand gripping Riley's skirt.

Riley didn't notice, double-checked the number, and pressed the dial button.

"The Wilder family estate."

Donovan walked into the mansion gate with a serious face and asked, "Has Finley come back?"

The butler greeted him with a worried expression and said, "No, we haven't seen Finley."

Just as he finished speaking, he felt a low pressure emanating from Mr. Wilder.

Donovan's thin lips formed a cold and fierce arc, his brows tightly furrowed.

Could it be that something really happened?

At the thought of this possibility, a surge of anger gathered between Donovan's eyebrows, as if he wanted to destroy everything in the world.

At this moment, a glamorous woman rushed in from outside, sounding very anxious. "Van, I heard that Finley is missing? Is it true? Have you found her?"

It was Hollis who arrived.

The person Donovan once wanted to marry!

However, at this moment, Donovan's expression was not angry but rather imposing. "You arrived just in time. I wanted to ask, did you say something to Finley this afternoon? She was perfectly fine, so why would she run away from home?"

Hollis was taken aback by his questioning, looking surprised. Then she looked at him in shock. "Van, what do you mean by that? Are you suspecting that I did something to Finley?"

She suddenly seemed a little hurt. "Van, I swear I didn't! Others might not know, but don't you understand? These years, I treated Finley like my own. How could I do something that caused her to run away from home?"

As she said these words, her expression showed a hint of grievance. Her eyes were red, giving off an innocent appearance.

In the afternoon, she did indeed tell the mute that once she married Donovan, she would have even cuter children. By then, Donovan would no longer like her!

Since that girl was mute, she wasn't worried about her reporting to Donovan.

However, she never expected that she would actually run away from home!

Good riddance!

It would be best if she died outside!
