Wounded
It's been a week since the incident that took place.
And a week since Sam and her mom went missing.
A week in the house with Logan.
Emily is starting to lose hope of her family ever being found.
But then she had a figure beside her who made her forget about her family.
They have been closed this week.
Trying to sort out clues, looking for evidence, trying to keep away from the ghouls, and most importantly him trying to console her had done the trick.
“ Where are you headed?", Emily asked.
“ Never knew I had to report everything to you now", Logan said rhetorically.
“ Why being harsh?", Emily asked.
Logan ran his hand through his hair.
“ You don't want me to reply that, right?", He furrowed his brows.
He pulled the fridge door open and pulled out a bottle of water.
Emily let out a deep sigh.
She’d been wanting to tell him about her feelings for days now, but here he goes again with his cold behavior.
Logan dropped the bottle on the kitchen table, his ear suddenly caught something.
Immediately his eyes snapped toward the window.
His eyes growled. “ Get down!", He screamed.
Emily's eyes widened. “ What's.."
He angrily yanked her toward himself, both falling to the floor with a thud with Logan beneath.
Almost immediately, a rocket launcher broke through the window and into the room, finding its mark right where Emily stood.
And then it exploded.
Emily covered up her ears.
“ They are here..", She mumbled.
A bullet followed suit.
Logan caught it right before it cut through Emily's back.
" Get off me!”, He yelled at Emily who was staring at his handsome face dazzling.
" I said get off me! “, Immediately Emily jerked off.
Another rocket launcher broke through the window, and before it could find its mark, Logan suddenly pulled Emily.
Both ran up the stairs.
Logan opened the door to the room he had been living in.
He walked downward, his hand found a cover which lay on the floor.
He snapped it open angrily.
“ Follow me closely", He ordered.
Emily stared down at the passage they were passing through.
“ When did he create this and how did he know the ghouls were coming over anytime soon?
The tunnel rang down for a while and then they came out right by the river near the house.
" Run!! “, Logan yelled at Emily.
" Why should I?.. We are going together “.
" Just get out of here already”, Logan yelled at her.
" I'm more stubborn than you”, Logan yelled.
" No… ", A bullet was suddenly shot there and was slightly cut through Emily's ear.
“ Shit!", Logan growled grabbing onto Emily's hand. Both got to their heels running off.
Logan suddenly tripped falling straight to the floor.
“ Get up quickly!", Emily urged.
“ Just get going!... Forget about me!", Logan yelled.
“ No!", Emily yelled back.
Logan's ear suddenly caught the sound of something approaching.
She turned backward and caught the bullet right in time.
“ Get goin… .”, A bullet suddenly pierced through his hand.
He shut his eyes growling in pain.
" Logan!.. “, Emily whimpered.
“ I told you to get going!", His eyes suddenly turned golden yellow.
Emily's steps slowly restricted and then she ran off.
Logan growled slowly getting on his four, he couldn't shift shape, his wolf was partially wounded.
He was sure the bullet contained silver.
He could have been knocked down by it if not for the training he got on how to counter the effect for a while.
He slowly got on his feet breathing hard.
He was already surrounded by the ghouls. And then there stood Finn, grinning at him.
“ We meet again", He said.
" Of course “, Logan smirked, his breath heavy.
He knew he couldn't take on all these ghouls with his current situation and he had to find a way to run off.
Before they could apprehend anything, he did his trick.
One minute he stood right in front of them, completely weak.
The next moment all the ghouls were down grunting and him running off.
As Logan's breaths came in ragged gasps, he could feel the weight of the night pressing down on him.
The ghouls, relentless in their pursuit, were shadows that flickered at the edge of his vision, their presence a constant threat.
He knew he couldn't fight them all—not head-on. So he ran, his feet pounding against the cold earth, weaving through the dense forest that lay like a dark maze before him.
He had to save them to advantage.
The ghouls were fast, but they were also reckless.
Logan led them on a winding path, ducking behind trees and leaping over gnarled roots.
He could hear them crashing through the underbrush, always just a step behind.
In a desperate bid for safety, Logan veered towards an old, abandoned cabin he remembered from his childhood.
The door was hanging off its hinges, and as he slipped inside, he hoped the dilapidated structure would offer some respite.
He held his breath, listening as the ghouls searched outside, their guttural snarls sending shivers down his spine.
Minutes passed, or maybe it was hours—time seemed to stretch and warp in the darkness.
Logan dared to hope that he might have evaded them when a sudden, sharp scream pierced the silence.
It was a sound that Logan knew all too well—the voice of Emily's mother filled with terror. And there was another, younger, more frantic—Sam, Emily's brother.
Both had been missing for a week, their absence a gaping hole in Emily's life.
Logan's heart clenched. He couldn't leave them—not when they might be in danger.
Ignoring the throbbing pain in his hand, he stepped out of the cabin and followed the sound of the screams.
They led him to a clearing where the moonlight streamed through the canopy, illuminating a scene that made his blood run cold.
Emily's mother and Sam were cornered by a group of ghouls, their backs against a large oak tree.
The creatures were closing in, their eyes glowing with a malevolent hunger. Without a second thought, Logan sprang into action.
He grabbed a fallen branch, swinging it with all his might. The first ghoul went down with a thud, and Logan used the momentum to spin and strike another.
