The Devil Whispers
A strong wind blew the dry leaves. Edelweiss touched her neck, she felt something was missings. The green scarf she wore that day was her favorite scarf, now she is forced to give it up because of her own stupidity.
"Ah what did I do? Even though at that time, I almost died. But, why did I change my mind? Why am I so scared?" She thought. She has been feeling uneasy since the suicide attempt she made that day.
What scared her? Edelweiss didn't understand at all, she was very tired and that's why she came to this place. She thought of Ryan who would have felt very guilty, if something bad happened to her, because her family had asked Ryan to take care of her.
"No, not because of that! Those eyes? The pair of eyes I saw at that time, were they real? Or were they just part of my hallucination?"
Dring ... dring ... dring ...
Her cell phone rang, breaking the daydream that had been going on for 10 minutes. Edelweiss s picked up her phone, seeing the name that appeared on the screen made her smile. It made her think that this person would never leave her alone.
"Yes, Ryan?"
"Where are you? What time are you home?"
"I went with my friends, now I'm at the station waiting for the train!"
"You took the train? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Ryan, I don't have to report everything I do to you, right?"
"But at that time, you went out to sea alone and made me worry. What's more, you got wet like that!"
"I already explained to you that I fell, but I'm fine, Ryan! So, stop treating me like a kid!"
"Okay, I understand! You're going to get off at Everdeen Station, right? I'll pick you up at the station!"
"Thanks, Ryan."
"Wait a minute!"
"What's wrong, Ryan?"
"You've only been a student a week, but you already have friends. How great are you?"
"You just found out who I am? Ah, never mind! the train is coming. See you later?"
"See you later! when you're on the road, send a message to me, let me pick you up at the station!"
"Very well, you nag!" She said, ending the call.
Edelweiss took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Even though Ryan always bothered her, somehow she couldn't get mad at him. Edelweiss smiled, thinking how talkative Ryan was much more concerned with her than her brother, Mark who always asked her to argue.
"Are all the men in this world always like that?" She thought.
The train that would take her from Portlethen Station to Aberdeen Station began to sound. All passengers began to approach the entrance adjacent to the railroad tracks.
Edelweiss stood, waiting for the train to come and her daydreaming habit resurfaced and it was hard for her to endure it. Her eyes were on the tracks, she realized that in less than three minutes the train would come and stop in front of her.
There was a strange desire arising in her mind, making her shadow something fatal. Who knows since when the suicide syndrome began to haunt her soul, making her often want to eliminate herself.
"Soon, the train will come! If I jump, will I die right away? But, what if I'm still alive and dying? It must be so painful! I want to die right away, so I don't feel the pain!" She thought. Her inner voice kept pushing her, while her eyes could not be separated from the hot iron that was ready to crush anything that was on it.
Her hands were trembling, her heart was racing very fast. Edelweiss was unable to control her thoughts, only three steps to make her end it all.
Teeettt ... teeettt ...
The sound of the train sounded closer. She was afraid, but she wanted to die.
"Ho- how is this? What should I do? Should I jump?"
"Jump! What are you waiting for?" Whispered someone who was right behind her.
Edelweiss realized at the whisper, her body froze. This was the first time she could feel her conscience speak so clearly.
"T-the voice of my heart? Re- really? This real?"
"Hey Miss! The train is about to arrive, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and die right now!"
"B-but,"
"You don't need to hesitate? It won't hurt, trust me!"
"This smell?" Edelweiss turned around when she smelled the ocean right around her, even though she was nowhere near the ocean.
Hallucination or not, a tall man with white skin and black hair was standing right behind her. Looking at her with his shining blue eyes, the man was wearing black clothes and robes. Around his neck was a green scarf that was exactly the same as her scarf that was lost in the sea.
"Why are you surprised? You can see me, huh?" The man grinned, he looked very handsome. Too handsome to seem so surreal.
"W-who are you? Are you the one who has been whispering in my ear?"
"Hey Miss, the train has come! Don't you wanna die?"
"Y-you crazy! Leave me alone!" She shouted. Everyone around her looked at her in confusion. Meanwhile, she immediately ran away from the crowd of people who were preparing to get into the train.
Edelweis tried to calm herself down, it all felt strange. How could that man know what was on her mind? Namely her desire to jump onto the rails, when she thought only of it herself.
"H-how come? How could she know what I was thinking?"
"Of course, which demon can't read human minds?" He said who once again appeared suddenly behind the unwary Edelweiss.
"Aaagh ..." She shouted loudly.
"Hei, why are you screaming?"
"Who doesn't scream when followed by a stalker freak like you?"
"Stalker freak? Tch, are you kidding me, Miss? I can make you bend your knees in front of me if I want!"
"Hiy...goosebumps! Turns out a street magician, huh?"
"Damn you! Who's a street magician?"
"If you're not a street magician? So, who are you, drug dealer?"
"Tch, insolent girl! Hey, have a good look at your eyes! do I look like a street magician or a drug dealer?" He said while pulling on his black robe which made him look even more like a street magician.
Edelweis tried to observe him, this man actually looked even more strange to her eyes. The black robe he wore made it look like he was imitating the clothes of one of the characters in the film.
"That scarf!"
"Why? You finally realized my charm?" He said with a grin.
"The scarf looks like mine that was missing, can I check it?"
"What?" Edelweiss tried to examine the scarf that her mother had knitted and had her name on it. Edelweiss was stunned, realizing that this scarf was her lost at sea.
"This scarf, where did you find it?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"Be- because this scarf is mine which was lost a few days ago,"
"Is that so? Because I found it, this thing is already mine!"
"But, it's mine. There is my name sewn with white thread, so can you return it, Mister- "
"Leviathan!"
"L-Leviathan?"
"Yes, I finally found you, Edelweiss!"
