Chapter 7

I stepped into my office with a small smile tugging at the corners of my lips. Xander left a few minutes ago after seeing that nobody was supporting him, and the look on his face after realizing that was priceless. He deserves it anyways.

As I moved to my sit, I realized that Xander's things had been cleared, must be while I was in the meeting. I settled down on my chair, and whirred it around to face the glass wall. The view from here is nice. I could see the different buildings, both tall and small.

Just like this beautiful view, I hope my life becomes more beautiful than it is now. Today's meeting gave me hope, I've got support from the shareholders and also Mr Greg who is like family.

I closed my eyes, but I wish I didn't. The scene of how Reed divorced me replayed me in my head, and a tear slipped out of my eyes.

Shit. I shouldn't be doing this. I opened my eyes and wiped the tear away. This would be the last tear I will shed because of Reed, because I will make sure I ruin him, and damn, the one million dollars he gave me.... I will make sure to make him lose that amount in multiple folds.

My phone chimed, and I looked at it to see a message from Karen, asking me to come to 'The Sweetz'. It's a restaurant where we meet up most of the time, and at that moment, I knew I was in for it.

I took my bag and left the office. I went to Mr Greg's office which was right beside mine. I knocked on it.

"Come in." Mr Greg said from inside, and I opened the door before poking my head in.

"Call for a press conference tomorrow to announce my position as the new CEO. I might be right back." I was not sure if I would come back cause it all depends on Karen, and besides, it was noon already.

I closed the door back and walked to the elevator. I got into my car the moment I walked out of the company, and drove out. The drive would take about thirty to forty minutes, so I put on the music to keep me company.

Like I guessed, I was already pulling up in front of the restaurant in thirty minutes. I parked my car well before getting out then I made my way into the restaurant.

"Girl." Karen's voice was the first thing I heard the moment I stepped in. I looked to the right where the voice came from, and there she was, she was sitting at a corner while waving at me.

A small smile appeared on my lips as I walked over to her.

"My baby!" She pulled me into a hug the moment I got to her.

"Hey." I hugged her back.

"You can let me go now." I mumbled when she didn't make any move to stop the hug.

"Brat!" She eyed me as she released me. I chuckled and sat opposite her.

"Waiter." She called and a lady came to us with a smile on her face.

"Welcome to The Sweetz. What you wanna get?" She asked.

"Egg white frittata and orange juice." I replied with my hands on the table.

"I will get the same thing." Karen said.

"Noted." She nodded and walked away.

"So...where did you get laid?" I looked at Karen who was staring at me with teasing eyes.

I shook my head as a chuckle left my lips. "I didn't..."

"You don't have to lie. You are free to do anything you want, so tell me." She leaned closer. I looked at her face which was twinkling with curiousness.

"Fine..at his house."

"Oh my!" She exclaimed loudly, attracting the eyes of the people in the restaurant.

"Bring it low, will you?" I scolded and mouthed a 'sorry' to them before facing her. She was still staring at me with tease in her eyes and a wide smile.

"Come on, it's not a big deal." I groaned and took a glass of juice immediately the waitress came back with our order.

"Of course, it isn't a bit deal. So how was it?" She asked as the waitress left us.

"You don't seriously wanna hear it?" I shook my head as I picked my fork, and began eating.

"I wanna hear it?" I frowned at her bluntness.

"Eat." Placing her fork in her hand, I want back to my food, ignoring her grumbling of wanting to hear 'it'

"Ahh... I'm full." I mumbled as I drank the last of my juice. I was already done eating. I looked up to see Karen staring at me. My brows furrowed. "What?"

"Is he hot?"

"Who?"

"The guy."

"Seriously?" I asked, surprised that she was still on this talk. She replied with a nod.

"I'm done here. Going to the restroom." I shook my head, and stood up, making my way to the restroom.

I eased myself and once I was done washing my hand, I walked out.

"Oh, gosh!" I stumbled back at the sight of James leaning on the wall, but I didn't fall. What is he doing here? Or is he...

"Are you stalking me?" My brows knitted into a frown. I folded my hands as I stared at him.

"Of course not. I am here for a meeting, but I saw you by chance, so I decided to come see you." He replied with a smile.

"In the restroom? And why would you come see me?" I frowned.

"Well..." He lifted himself from the wall and moved closer to me. "A beauty decided to flee after sharing a hot night with me."

My cheeks heated up at his words. I bit my lip as I tried to compose myself. My face is surely red now.

"Flee? I didn't flee." I denied, and he chuckled before nodding. "Right, you didn't....well, you forgot this."

He brought out a necklace from his pocket.

"I don't need it." It was the necklace Reed gave me for our third anniversary but it's useless now.

"What do you mean you don't need it?"

"You can keep it if you want." I shrugged and made to walk past him, but he blocked me. "You can't be leaving right now."

"Why is that?" I raised my brows.

"We had a night." He said.

"So? It was a one night thing, I think we adults enough to know that." I replied, and walked past him, but I stopped when he spoke up.

"It is not a one night thing to me.”
